I knew that the Ton Den in Yayoi Street in Obihiro would be finished once they run out of Butadon, and they close at 6 pm, so I was nervous when I arrived at 5 pm, but luckily they were still open. I sat at the counter and saw various celebrities' autographs lined up on the wall, which was impressive. The takeout customers seemed to pick up their orders from the counter next to the shop. I ordered an original Butadon with a mix of loin and belly, miso soup, pickles, and a bottle of Asahi Super Dry beer. The Butadon with a mix of loin and belly was delicious, with generous portions of meat. All the meat is from Tokachi, and the rice is locally sourced. The sauce, made by hand for over half a century, was rich and paired perfectly with the juicy meat. I love strong flavors, so being able to add more of this delicious sauce was a bonus. I couldn't resist buying a bottle of the Butadon sauce on my way out. They only accept cash payment.

It was very crowded, but I was fourth in line so I didn't feel stressed entering the restaurant. I ordered a large serving of the roast and skirt steak combination, and it was so delicious! The garlic seasoning added a nice touch for flavor variation. I thought about getting a large serving of rice too, but I managed to control my appetite, which was a relief. I will definitely visit again in a few years!

I had a business trip to Obihiro and decided to have lunch with a client at the popular restaurant called "Ton Den" known for its pork bowl. Despite being a weekday, there was a 20-group wait. We were guided to a spacious parking lot behind the store, and even though it took some time to find a spot, the guidance was very polite and we didn't feel annoyed. We wrote our names on the waiting list and decided on our menu while waiting. We were soon seated and our pork bowls arrived. This time, I chose a combination of belly and loin. The belly slices were slightly smaller in size, balancing well with the amount of loin. It was delicious. Sprinkling the "garlic spice" on top made it even more tasty. I will definitely come back for more.

Despite being crowded on a regular day with a full parking lot, the staff were waiting and guided us which was very helpful. The meat was tender and I was drawn to the assortment of loin and belly. The sauce was a bit too strong but made it easy to eat, so I was satisfied.

I visited Ton Den in Obihiro, Hokkaido for lunch during a business trip. Despite it being a weekday, the popular restaurant had quite a line. Surprisingly, the turnover was quick and I was able to get in without waiting for more than 30 minutes. For my first visit, I ordered the Roast and Belly Pork Assortment (990 yen) with extra rice and meat (for an additional 340 yen). The presentation of the meat was amazing - so much meat! It was tender and the fat melted in my mouth. The sweet sauce and fat paired well with the rice, and the garlic spice added a nice touch. The extra fat didn't bother me as it enhanced the flavor. While both the roast and belly were good, I personally preferred the fat from the belly. It was great to taste authentic pork bowl in its birthplace. It was delicious!

When you come to Hokkaido, you definitely want to try pork bowl, right? On the way from Rausu to Sapporo, we managed to find some time and stopped by. It was just past 1 PM on a weekday, and there was still a line with a wait of about 20 minutes. I have tried pork bowls at various places, and they were all delicious, but this place is a must-try benchmark. This time, I had a mix of belly and loin, but next time, I might just go with the loin.

This restaurant is located along the Sarunai River, a little away from the city center of Obihiro. It may not be the most popular pork bowl restaurant in Obihiro, but it always has long lines. I had been avoiding it because I didn't think it was worth waiting in line for a pork bowl, but on this day, after enjoying a sauna at Tokachigawa Onsen in the morning, I happened to pass by and there was no line! It had been a long time since my last visit. When it comes to Obihiro's pork bowl, loin is the main ingredient, but here they offer an overwhelmingly popular original pork bowl that includes both loin and belly. The meat is tender and easy to eat. The rice is also delicious. The sauce is on the sweeter side, which seems to be popular with children. Perhaps due to its location, there are many families dining here. Personally, I find the sauce a bit too sweet. When you think of Obihiro's pork bowl, you may imagine savoring pork grilled over charcoal, but here it's more like a tender chashu or braised pork. It's definitely a unique take compared to other restaurants. It's not the typical Obihiro pork bowl you might expect, so preferences may vary.

Visited around 17:00 on a Saturday. Heard it was a popular restaurant in Obihiro and decided to visit. Managed to get a seat without waiting as closing time was approaching. Ordered the assorted pork belly plate. The sweet sauce was similar to the one used for eel dishes and was very delicious. It had a nice crispy texture as well. It was a great experience to visit this famous restaurant in Obihiro.

Two days ago, I just had the pork bowl here, but the deliciousness was unforgettable so I came back again. I arrived around lunchtime today and waited for about 30 minutes, but no problem at all. The pork melts in your mouth, even if you're not a fan of meat, you'll keep eating. The combination with rice is excellent. Sometimes you can enjoy the rice itself with sansho pepper or extra sauce. It's the best pork bowl!

I went to the eastern part after a long time. For lunch, I had pork bowl, of course. I tried several places in Obihiro city, but this place is the best. I arrived around 1:30 pm on a weekday, and there was a line from the parking lot. However, it surprisingly moved quickly, and I didn't have to wait for more than an hour from arrival to getting my bowl. The order was for a pork loin bowl. There were some parts with a little fat, and some parts were firm, but the balance was just right. Eating it with the hot and fluffy rice, mixed with the sauce, was the best meal. The sansho pepper also added a nice touch. It was a very satisfying lunch.

I had never been there before because it's always crowded, but I went for the first time this time! Even after Obon, there was still a 40-minute wait, and the cars in the parking lot were all from outside Obihiro. Inside the restaurant, there were various autographs from famous people!

All the meat is from Tokachi, aged, and using fresh meat. Each piece is hand-cut, removing excess oil and sinew. The meat was surprisingly tender! I was surprised because I had eaten at a different pork bowl restaurant the day before, making the difference even more noticeable.
I started by eating it as it is, then halfway through, I sprinkled sansho pepper on the roast and garlic on the belly meat for a change in flavor. It was nice to be able to change the flavor.
The rice was from Hokkaido-grown oborodzuki rice and was delicious! The sauce was sweet, and there was additional sauce on the table, which was nice to add according to your preference. Personally, I prefer the sauce to be not too sweet, and I prefer pork bowls with a charcoal flavor, but even so, I thought it was at the level of one of the top pork bowl restaurants in Obihiro.

It's a well-known local favorite. Even on weekdays at lunchtime, there's always a line. The pork bowl with sweet sauce and pork is addictive. Even the regular size is filling, so you'll be satisfied. The parking lot is spacious, but it fills up quickly, so be prepared to wait.

On the 4th day of the Bon vacation. From Kiyosato Town to Shiretoko Pass, then along the coast to Nemuro, Hamanaka, and finally arrived in Obihiro at 5:20 PM. After that, I received a phone call for takeout, but it seems that they had already stopped taking orders and sold out. Even after they had taken down the sign, several groups of people still came. A waiting area was set up, so we could wait comfortably in front of the shop. However, there seemed to be various rules when the parking lot was crowded. Since there was no parking attendant, I'm not sure about the details, but basically you need to park according to the parking attendant's instructions and sign your name on the waiting board. We entered the restaurant at 6:10 PM. Since our order had been taken before, the food came out quite quickly. I had the pork belly bowl with onions on top. Only this menu has the option of adding onions, so I have been ordering this menu every time. The pork belly and sauce were delicious, and it was even better with a sprinkle of sansho pepper. I gobbled it all up. Thank you for the meal. We are heading to Niikappu Town.

Huh? What's so Michelin about this place? I miss the old Tonda... It was super crowded during Obon, but the staff guiding us were polite. Since we were there, we decided to wait in line and try the food. I had the fillet and loin. The meat was tender! The service was quick after we sat down! But it wasn't grilled over charcoal, more like boiled or steamed pork bowl. That's why it was served so fast. The sauce was delicious with plenty of it! Was the rice freshly cooked? It was incredibly tasty!

I visited Ton-ya for Buta-don. After waiting for about 40 minutes, I was seated. They confirmed my order while I was waiting, so the food was served within 3 minutes of being seated. I ordered the Roast Buta-don. The sweet sauce and tender pork loin went well together and it was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This was my second visit since they relocated, and it was still extremely crowded. I waited for over 30 minutes and finally got seated after 2 PM. I had the pork fillet bowl, which was consistently delicious. The perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness in the soy sauce-based sauce enhanced the flavor of the pork. I am grateful for this delicious and affordable pork bowl.

I went during the usual opening time. It was already congested. About 2 staff members were guiding and directing cars in the parking lot. Everyone left their cars in line and went to write their names. It took over 30 minutes to find a parking spot. After checking the order of names, it was still a long wait. The staff members came to take orders from those who seemed next in line, so it's best to prepare in advance. My friend and I ordered a large mixed plate and harami. We opted for extra meat on the mixed plate. Most men around us ordered both rice and meat, with extra meat. There were about 3 different types of meat, and it was a substantial amount. The flavor was well-seasoned and not too salty, so even visitors from afar would enjoy it. The meat was delicious, just like the rice. If you don't like fatty meat, go for the harami.

◆Report: Enjoying the "Roast Pork Belly Assortment" at "Ton Den"◆Menu: Roast Pork Belly Assortment ¥990◆Review: Today's gourmet adventure takes us to "Ton Den" in Obihiro, Hokkaido. When asked for the best pork bowl in Obihiro, I recommend this place. The original dish here is the roast pork bowl, but personally, I recommend the Roast Pork Belly Assortment where you can enjoy both the belly and the loin. The fatty belly and the juicy flavor of the loin complement each other perfectly, making it a truly delicious experience. It's hard to express how good it is in words. It's really delicious! Another great thing is that you can add more sauce for free. So, if you feel like you need more sauce, you can pour as much as you want! It's a nice bonus that allows you to enjoy the meat with plenty of sauce and rice. If you ever find yourself in Obihiro, make sure to try it out! ✨

This business trip was to Obihiro. I rented a car this time, so I went to a pork bowl restaurant a little far from the station, which seems to have been selected as a Bib Gourmand. There was already a line forming before the opening at 11 am. I ordered the classic pork bowl with roast pork. It was delicious just as I had imagined, and the taste was really good.

I went on a 2-night, 3-day trip to Tokachi Obihiro! Upon arriving at Obihiro Airport, I visited the abandoned stations of Kofuku and Aikoku, which were featured on an NHK program. For lunch, I stopped by Tonkoda, famous for their pork rice bowl. It's a popular spot in Obihiro, and despite arriving 15 minutes before opening, there were already 19 groups on the waiting board. We couldn't get in on the first round, but we were seated after about 15 minutes. I ordered the pork loin and belly assortment for 990 yen, while my wife had the belly with onions for 910 yen. Both cuts of pork were very tender, and the special sauce they used was sweet and flavorful. The rice, sourced locally in Hokkaido, was also deliciously fluffy. It was my first time trying Obihiro's famous pork rice bowl, and it did not disappoint. Thank you for the meal!

"I was told by a local that while you can make Butadon at home, Ton Den is worth a visit. I decided to check it out and ordered the Roast and Belly combo. You get to taste two different types of meat, both thick and tender, with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy in the sauce. It's a generous portion, but adding some Sansho pepper or garlic spice can change up the flavors. I would love to visit again when I'm in Obihiro."
