On the second night of a business trip to Hokkaido in July 2023, the evening meal started at an Italian wine specialty shop. The main course had all-you-can-drink, but the amount of food was a bit elegant. So, it seemed like a good idea to finish with ramen, but all the places were crowded on a Friday night. Therefore, we ended up at a yakiniku (grilled meat) place that seemed welcoming. It was the third stop of the night, and even though it was past 11 pm, we were craving yakiniku. We had tongue, kalbi, harami, lamb, and tripe, and they were all delicious. The tripe, which I'm not particularly fond of, was also good. With a 120-minute all-you-can-drink option for 1,780 yen, we naturally continued to drink fresh beer and also tried makgeolli, a Korean rice wine. Phew, staying up late is tough for someone like me who usually goes to bed early and wakes up early. Still, it was a rare opportunity to enjoy drinking with customers. Overall, the place was really good. It might have been considered late for a yakiniku place in the heart of Susukino, but it was a great experience.

I had been curious about this yakiniku restaurant since my first visit to Sapporo. It has been in business for 38 years. While it's common to try Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) in Sapporo, I never had the chance to try regular yakiniku. This time, I went in for dinner alone, eager to seize the opportunity. The restaurant had a spacious interior that felt like it was built during the bubble era. I ordered a Sapporo Black Label draft beer and the following dishes: - Beef tongue with salt - Genghis Khan - Kalbi (short ribs) - Miso-flavored hormone (organ meat) I didn't order any expensive cuts of meat, but overall, the dishes were just okay. I frequently visit high-quality yakiniku restaurants in Tokyo, so I tend to be quite critical. The miso-flavored hormone lacked miso flavor, the beef tongue was not properly thawed, the Kalbi was average at best, and the Genghis Khan was thinly sliced. When it comes to yakiniku, it seems that established restaurants are a tough crowd for me.

I wanted to eat yakiniku, so I made a reservation for the all-you-can-eat and drink course at Nanko-en. The restaurant was crowded, but it was lively being in the city! We ordered beer, namul, and yukhoe for starters and made a toast. Then we ordered kalbi, sagari, and other meats. Everything was delicious! Especially the kalbi stood out as being really good compared to other yakiniku chains. Thank you for the meal!

The meat that comes out is really good and makes you think "Is it really all-you-can-eat?" (≧∀≦) It's great that they also have all-you-can-drink and smoking is allowed. The restaurant, Nanko-en Oakura branch, offers a bright and casual atmosphere with counter seats, private rooms, and spacious tatami seating, serving yakiniku and side dishes. They also serve black wagyu beef and thickly sliced tongue. All-you-can-drink is available.

I decided to try a yakiniku restaurant that I don't usually go to, and this time I chose Nanko-en, known for their frozen hormone meat. Despite my initial hesitation about the appearance of the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. We ordered kalbi, salted garlic sagari, premium salted tongue, and giara. The budget on Tabelog was listed as 2,000 yen and above, so I was a bit careless, but the prices were actually on the higher side, so those who refer to the Tabelog budget should be cautious. As for the taste, everything was delicious overall. The tongue had a good thickness and a crispy texture, with just the right amount of seasoning. The kalbi had a moderate amount of fat, but you could still taste the sweetness of the fat. The salted garlic sagari had just the right amount of garlic flavor without being overwhelming, and it was very tender. As for the giara, it was not overly tough like some places, but had the perfect level of firmness, not too soft or too hard. It's recommended to use scissors for cutting it since it's a bit large. A minor detail, but the yakiniku sauce also did a great job. Sometimes the sauce can overpower the taste of the meat, but this sauce was made lighter, adding a good flavor without interfering with the meat's taste. Overall, it was very delicious and satisfying. I will definitely come back again. Personal note: They offer all-you-can-drink option. 120 minutes for 1,780 yen.

During my stay in Susukino, I decided to try out a yakiniku restaurant that was open at night. The restaurant was quite spacious and had a relaxed seating arrangement. Although there were a fair number of customers, I was able to enjoy my meal comfortably. They offered a time-limited all-you-can-eat option, but I prefer to order individual items. I tried the tongue, salted tongue, and top loin. The meat was served on one plate, which was a bit unusual as the tongue was also included. They didn't have lemon, but they would provide it if requested. I found the sauce to be unique and tasty when tried on its own, but it seemed to dilute the flavor of the meat when combined. Overall, I felt that the meat lacked depth of flavor. It seemed more like a place to enjoy a lively atmosphere rather than focusing on high-quality meat. I have a blog called "Yakiniku Encyclopedia" where I document my experiences at yakiniku restaurants across Japan. Check it out for more information on other yakiniku restaurants.

The Yakiniku Susukino restaurant that I visited before is no longer open. This place seems like an after-hours spot. I had: Senmai sashimi, beef tongue, harami, kalbi, and upper mino. Nanko-en, Sapporo. They specialize in sushi too.

It's been a while since I had a beer outside, and it was great. The state of emergency has ended and some restaurants are open for business again, although most close after 8pm. The places that are open are very crowded, but the beer at the popular spots tastes really good. The rice is delicious, but the meat is frozen and the portions are small. The tongue is round and tastes artificial. Well, in these casual restaurants, price seems to be more important than taste.

This restaurant is great because it's open until morning, so you can go even after work! All the meat dishes were delicious, and I wish I had saved more room in my stomach to try more. I definitely want to go back to this place! The spacious interior was well-ventilated, so I didn't have to worry about smoke at all!

Today's closing was at ~, and I visited after a long time. Despite the late-night visit, they serve delicious yakiniku, so it's relatively one of my favorites. I had tan shio, kalbi, and pork belly on this day, and they were all delicious. I ate modestly this time because I was full, so next time I plan to eat heartily.‪w ===========

When I'm tired, I always go for meat! Meat! Niku~! There's no way you can go wrong with Nanko-en! Today I ordered the Kalbi, beef tongue, pork trotter, and vegetable soup rice. It was my first time trying the pork trotter at Nanko-en, and it was delicious with the vinegar miso. The Kalbi had just the right amount of fat, was sweet, juicy, and tasty. Surprisingly, the vegetable soup was great too! It had a good amount of veggies, and the broth was perfectly seasoned, very delicious. I wish it was a bit cheaper, but I left satisfied (^^).

The atmosphere was calm as it was late at night. I went with my friends, but I wasn't in the mood for meat, so I ordered a half portion of cold noodles for 480 yen and a highball for 380 yen. The cold noodles arrived about 12 minutes after ordering. The half portion was quite generous in size. The ingredients included apple (good), kimchi daikon (so-so), chicken chashu (good), cucumber pickles (weird taste), white leeks (good), boiled egg (good). The kimchi was better than the kimchi daikon. The chicken broth was light and quite tasty, but the sesame oil was too strong and greasy! It's a shame because the noodles were cooked perfectly. I wish they would make the sesame oil optional. It was delicious when I added vinegar. I'm sorry I didn't eat the barbecue. I want to go eat barbecue next time. Thank you for the meal.

Nanko-en... A restaurant I have known since I lived in Sapporo. I wonder why I never visited before? I decided to visit based on the recommendation that if you want to eat yakiniku, you should go to Nanko-en. We ordered the all-you-can-eat course for 4400 yen. The kalbi, sagari, and loin available for all-you-can-eat were of high quality. The sauce is a traditional light flavor, which I really like as there are many places with heavier sauces nowadays. And they have yukhoe (Korean beef tartare)!! Even though it's all-you-can-eat, they have yukhoe!! It is really delicious. It might be because I haven't had yukhoe in a while, but it's really tasty! If you order the soup, the portion is quite large so it's recommended to share one between two people. I should have come here sooner! I will definitely come back! Thank you for the meal!

I visited this popular yakiniku buffet restaurant for the first time, feeling a bit unsure about the meat quality. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The price was reasonable and the meat had a good aroma, thickness, cut, and flavor. The freshness of the horumon and chicken was perfect, and both the salt and sauce had a nice original taste. The drink selection was wide and affordable, and I enjoyed the freshly squeezed lemon and grapefruit makgeolli. The restaurant was well-ventilated and clean, with a surprising 12-hour opening time from 5 pm to 5 am. I might go back next time to try their "shime yakiniku" (finishing off with grilled meat). Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I want to eat a lot of yakiniku!! So, after working overtime at the end of the month, I went to Susukino by myself! On the way back, I visited Nanko-en, which is located along the way. Today, the Halloween-themed shop was quite empty. I was seated at a table near the entrance as soon as I entered. The place was clean and comfortable, with no stickiness. Now, my favorite kalbi (short ribs)✨ 2 servings! Sagari (skirt steak) 1 serving! Gyutan (beef tongue) 1 serving! Half portion of cold noodles! So, I ordered the above items! The gyutan came with plenty of green onion and had a nice chewy texture and was thicker than it looked, very delicious ❤️ The kalbi had a good amount of fat and was so tasty! The sagari was also delicious. But, as a kalbi lover, I may not have needed the sagari. I topped the cold noodles with plenty of vinegar and enjoyed the smooth texture! Everything was delicious! The prices are not cheap, but I was satisfied when I returned home. It seems they also have all-you-can-eat options, so I want to come back with my daughter next time. Thank you for the meal!

Tonight, I went to Minakoen with my usual dinner buddies and had yakiniku! It's about a 2-minute walk from Susukino Station in Sapporo, and you can easily spot it with its red and yellow sign. This restaurant is open year-round, and they stay open until 4:30 in the morning, so it's quite convenient. <Food> - Salted hormone - Thick-sliced upper salted tongue - Marinated Genghis Khan - Beef yukhoe - Daikon salad - Namul assortment - Kimchi <Drinks> - Draft beer - Highball - Makgeolli First up, the salted hormone! As a hormone-loving girl, this is a must-order menu item. From the moment it's brought to the table, it looks sparkling and fresh. The freshness and seasoning are top-notch! The strong salt seasoning goes perfectly with beer. I can't stop gulping it down. Next, let's try the tongue! Since we're here, I ordered the thick-sliced upper salted tongue today. It's so good, with just the right amount of fat! Enjoy the thick slices by cooking them slowly. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The crispy texture and the flavor of the tongue are delightful! The saltiness is quite strong, so a squeeze of lemon makes it refreshing. I was in the mood for lamb meat, so I also ordered the marinated Genghis Khan! It comes to the table already marinated in a pot. The sweet and fruity sauce makes the alcohol go down smoothly. I found beef yukhoe! Yay! The sauce is the classic sweet and spicy flavor. Mix in the egg yolk on top, and a light squeeze of lemon. It's so nice to be able to eat beef yukhoe! Of course, we have to eat some vegetables too, right? So we got the kimchi, namul assortment, and also the daikon and dried fish Japanese-style salad! The kimchi is the typical napa cabbage kimchi. The namul assortment includes fern, spinach, daikon, and bean sprouts, a common lineup. The daikon salad has a mountain of shredded daikon, quite a generous portion. We dressed it and enjoyed it. The dried fish on top adds a nice flavor. It's refreshing in the mouth and goes well with the yakiniku. The staff's service is nice, and with this taste at this price, it's pretty good. They also have all-you-can-eat and drink options, so next time, let's aim to conquer all the menu items with everyone! (laughs)

It has been many years since I last visited Nankoen. I often eat frozen packs at home, but I think it's been about 20 years since I last dined in. Visiting again after such a long time, I don't remember anything about the place... Was it always like this inside? Or did they renovate? However, my taste buds seem to remember the flavors of dishes like hormone miso garlic and mino. They are delicious! I may have had a bit too much to drink...

At around 11pm, two of us visited the restaurant. Despite the late hour, there were many customers inside. We ordered a platter of meat and vegetables. We thought it might be small, but each piece of meat was surprisingly large and there were even four different kinds, so we were very satisfied! The tongue, in particular, was incredibly delicious. The cost performance is very good, and I feel like I had delicious meat after a long time! They also seem to offer bento boxes, which caught my attention, so I definitely want to try them.
