Dosanko. A yakitori chain that is particularly familiar to Sapporo residents. While their main presence is in Sapporo, they also have branches in nearby areas like Ebetsu, Chitose, and even Asahikawa. But wait, I just found out that they also have a branch in Kichijoji! Anyway, I happened to pass by their branch near my office and found out that they offer lunch as well, so one day when my lunch was a bit late, I decided to sneak in and try it out. The lunch menu includes several limited options, which you can purchase from a ticket machine. They offer yakitori bowls, as well as sets with curry or ramen. I was aiming for the minced chicken bowl, but it was sold out that day, so I settled for the yakitori bowl (regular size). The counter and table seating layout is spacious, with partitions separating each pair of seats. Despite the reduced capacity due to COVID-19, the restaurant still takes preventive measures. The bowl I received contained three types of yakitori, chicken soup (which is usually served as a complimentary dish at night), simmered hijiki, pickles, and miso soup. The yakitori included chicken breast with wasabi, pork skewers, and chicken skewers, along with a piece of rolled omelette and shishito pepper. The portion was quite satisfying, and the quality of the skewers was consistent and delicious. I noticed other customers ordering curry or ramen, so it seems like a versatile place. Overall, it was a good find for a new lunch spot, and I enjoyed my meal.
