Located on the 7th floor of the Second Green Building in Minami 5-jo Nishi 4-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. This eel restaurant is situated in a mixed-use building right near the Susukino intersection. I initially went to a different eel restaurant thinking I could enjoy a drink there due to the relaxation of COVID-19 measures, but I was seated at the counter as a solo customer without any consideration for my coat, and I felt cold by the window. Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to change restaurants. When I thought about heading home, I remembered this place and found myself drawn to it. It turns out that this restaurant is located in the same building as my favorite snack bar. The owner of this restaurant is also the mama-san of the snack bar. Despite not having a reservation, I managed to get a seat. The restaurant is small, with an L-shaped counter in front of the kitchen space and a raised seating area in the back. I was seated at the counter right in front of the charcoal grill, which turned out to be quite enjoyable. I was surprised to learn from the chef that he had worked at various eel restaurants in Sapporo and even at a renowned restaurant in Tokyo. This restaurant offers both Kanto-style and Kansai-style eel dishes. Personally, I prefer Kanto-style, so I ordered the Shirayaki and Unaju in Kanto-style, but the chef recommended trying Kansai-style as well. For drinks, I had bottled beer and hot sake. The Tamagoyaki with half an eel fillet inside was simple yet delicious, with the egg not overly sweet, allowing the flavor of the eel to shine. The Shirayaki had a crispy and fragrant surface, with a delightful chewy texture from the collagen-rich skin. The Unaju, although I mistakenly ordered it in Kanto-style, was still delicious with a light and flavorful sauce complementing the tender and moist eel. I regret not trying both Kanto and Kansai styles for the Unaju. Overall, I unexpectedly found a great eel restaurant.

On April 10, 2023, I went from New Chitose Airport Station to Susukino and had my first Hokkaido meal, which was eel! I was curious about this eel restaurant because they offer Kanto-style and Kansai-style grilling options. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building and is quite hard to find. When I asked where the eel was from, the response was "It is definitely domestic." I asked them to confirm with the owner because I was specifically curious about which part of Japan it was from. The eel is grilled over charcoal after you place your order. They use bamboo skewers for Kanto-style and metal skewers for Kansai-style, which was a nice touch. I ordered the half broiled eel set for around 5500 yen. The first dish that came out was the broiled eel, but it was undercooked, almost like rare in yakiniku. The fat was not fully rendered and the cuts were too thin, making it difficult to eat. The eel itself was not bad, with no unpleasant smell. However, the eel set was a disappointment. It was rubbery and tough, difficult to chew. The rice was too soft and not tasty. The sauce was thin and slightly sweet. The eel liver dish had a strong taste of green onions, overpowering the soup flavor. Despite being freshly grilled, the disappointing grilling technique of the eel was a letdown. Thank you for the meal.

After eating Genghis Khan, I felt like having eel and was led to this restaurant. It is located on the upper floors of a building in a bustling area. You can choose between Kanto-style and Kansai-style eel. I enjoyed both shioyaki (grilled with salt) and kabayaki (grilled with sweet soy sauce) as appetizers with drinks. It seems to be open late into the night, so I would like to visit this restaurant frequently if it is close by.

Shizuoka eel prepared in Kansai style is recommended at Matsumi 4800 for comparison. Today, I had Kansai-style grilled eel and beer. It may take some time, but the simmered dish served as an appetizer is worth waiting for about 30 minutes. The chewy grilled eel was excellent. It might be the only place in Sapporo where you can find such quality. The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of a building, making it a hidden gem. The charcoal-grilled eel was also delicious. The interior of the restaurant is clean and they have proper COVID-19 measures in place. They are open until late at night, so it's a great place to treat yourself after a long day. I will definitely visit again.

I had eel grilled right in front of me for the first time. This restaurant offers a choice between Kanto-style and Kansai-style grilling. I chose the tender Kanto-style. It was nice to see it being grilled right in front of me. The sauce was delicious and the rice went well with it. Thank you for the meal.

I was interested in this restaurant that opened last year, but due to COVID and other reasons, I couldn't go until now. I went to Unagi Yamashita in Susukino, Sapporo. When I entered the kitchen, the chef asked me if I wanted to see the eel. I realized that the owner was a craftsman I had met two years ago in Kyuta. He remembered me well. The eel was prepared in an open kitchen, and I ordered Hitsumabushi and Unaju while sipping on green tea highball. The eel was a size 4 portion. The Hitsumabushi had a fluffy texture with crispy skin, no need for any additional seasoning. The Unaju had a refreshing sauce with a unique flavor from the grilling process. The fat content was light and easy to eat. Both my eel-loving friend and I were very satisfied. The restaurant operates from 6 pm to 1:30 am in the Second G Building location, and I hope it can overcome the challenges of COVID.

I didn't have high expectations since it was a restaurant inside a building, but it was fairly delicious. The charcoal was charcoal, but the grilling was excellent. It's nice that you can choose between Kansai-style and Kanto-style depending on the day. I wish the grilled eel was a bit more cooked for the white-grilled one. The Kansai-style broiled eel was plump and I liked it. The rice was pretty good quality. It was a bit late when I went, so the freshness of the rice was not the best, but considering the price, it was delicious enough. I will go again ^_^ Next time, I'll try the Kanto-style grilled eel rice bowl in a large serving.

I suddenly felt like eating eel, but I wanted something a little different from the usual kabayaki. So, I ordered grilled eel and tempura here. Both were lightly seasoned, offering a different taste from kabayaki. However, I think I prefer kabayaki when it comes to eel... But at that time, I had drunk quite a bit of alcohol, so I impulsively ordered this high-end menu and ended up eating it while being too drunk to fully appreciate the taste... It was my own fault, but I felt like I had wasted money. Well, I do remember enjoying the meal, but...
