The omelet was incredibly delicious! It had two eggs, was rich, and really suited my taste! The drink selection was a fun self-service style! The fried chicken was large and crunchy, definitely a recommendation! Also, the toro-taku roll was seriously good; it was packed with so much toro that it was about to spill out! Haha! The staff were friendly and it was an enjoyable experience overall!

The food was visually stunning and very delicious. The chicken confit is highly recommended. There is also a variety of wines to enjoy. The master or chef with the afro is very friendly and fun to talk to. It's a place that makes you want to visit again.

I visited @on_the_pond_ikenoue and enjoyed a lovely experience. The drinks are self-serve, allowing you to select from the fridge stocked with wine and beer. The snacks all looked delicious, making it hard to choose, but I settled on:
- White liver confit
- First bonito with shiranui citrus and watercress ceviche
- Cheese panini
- Chicken thigh confit
- Toro-taku
I started with a glass of sparkling wine, and then the server generously poured a bottle of white and a bottle of red for me while engaging in pleasant conversation. This was probably the most enjoyable time I've spent after getting off at Ikebukuro station.
The convenience of the restaurant's proximity to the station is wonderful (especially since it was raining that day ☂️). I noticed many other tempting eateries along the way to the station, and I'm eager to explore Ikebukuro further. Thank you for the lovely experience! I’ll definitely come back! #Ikebukuro #OnThePond #onthepondikenoue #Confit

According to the manager, the interior of the restaurant features a stylish concrete finish done by an interior designer. The drink service is self-serve, offering a wide variety of wines and beers that change every month, making you want to visit again and again. Everything on the menu pairs well with the drinks, and the fried chicken, when eaten with mint, creates a perfect balance of juicy flavor and refreshing aroma.

I was taken to a dinner gathering at this spot! It’s about an 8-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station and a 3-minute walk from Ikeno-ue Station. I guess the name comes from Ikeno-ue (laughs). It’s located on the 3rd floor of a stylish building, so I was a bit nervous going up the stairs. But once I reached the top, I found an amazing space! I instantly thought, “Oh, I love it here.” There’s a counter and tables, making it a welcoming atmosphere for solo diners too.
The system here is interesting: all drinks are self-service! They have a lineup of craft beers and natural wines displayed in a showcase, and you can pick your favorite drink. If you order a bottle of wine and plan to drink at least three glasses, they will open it for you, so it's perfect for groups wanting to try different wines. Since we went as a group of five, we got to sample various types.
Here’s what we ordered:
- Navel orange and carrot rapé ¥550
- Chicken white liver confit ¥650
- Melt-in-your-mouth salmon confit with plum sauce ¥1100
- Fresh bonito, sweet citrus, and watercress ceviche ¥1400
- Miyagi prefecture chicken karaage ¥800
- Free-range egg bottarga omelet ¥1100
- Snack cheese panini ¥1400
- Miyagi prefecture chicken thigh confit ¥2300
- Afro's fried udon ¥1200
- Onpon! Toro-taku ¥1300
- Salmon confit and salmon roe ¥1100
- Shrimp tempura with red hot chili pepper ¥1200
- Tuna avocado with Kujo green onion sauce ¥1200
Since there were five of us, we could tackle many dishes! All of them paired wonderfully with the natural wine and were absolutely delicious. The omelet, chicken thigh confit, and hand rolls are must-tries. The hand roll series is also perfect for a meal-end and looks adorable too! Personally, I really liked the cheese panini! It was packed with cheese, very satisfying, and paired well with wine. I was so captivated by the atmosphere and menu that I definitely want to come back. Thank you for the meal!

This is a genius restaurant. It's stylish and delicious, and even if you go alone, you'll be welcomed warmly. Since it operates with one person, drinks are self-serve, but the setup makes that enjoyable. The main focus of the drinks is natural wine, featuring a lineup full of unique options. Personally, I also loved the glasses. However, the best part is definitely the food! The presentation is beautiful! The owner has an afro! It's a fun place with lots of intriguing details. If I had to point out a downside, it would be that it's hard to find on your first visit!

Nestled between Shimokitazawa and Ikenoue, this hidden bistro specializes in hand-rolled sushi and confit. With high ceilings and a sophisticated ambiance, it serves as an adult secret hideaway. The unique owner, Afro Fujita, provides a warm and enjoyable experience, making it a delightful place to be. Drinks are self-served from the fridge, featuring a wide selection of craft beers and natural wines.
The dishes are bursting with originality, offering a thrilling culinary experience. The hand rolls are not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. The shrimp and mint spring rolls are a must-try, perfectly balancing flavors. The chicken thigh confit is an absolute recommendation, as the meat is so tender it can be eaten with chopsticks.
This charming spot is perfect for solo diners or larger groups, making it hard not to want to return. Be sure to visit before reservations become unavailable!

I heard that the person from a restaurant I often visited has opened their own place, so I went to check it out! The restaurant has large windows and a stylish, open atmosphere where you can enjoy hand rolls, confit, and natural wines. Chef Afro is great at both cooking and chatting, making it a place you’ll want to visit again soon. It's fun that you can choose the wine yourself, and the ambiance is excellent with both counter and table seating for various situations. Thank you for the wonderful meal! I’ll definitely be back!

In Ikonoue, right next to Shimokitazawa, a new shop featuring confit, hand-rolled sushi, and natural wines has suddenly appeared. The ambiance of the place feels like a secret base in the city. With high ceilings and a refined concrete space, it offers a unique atmosphere. The dishes prepared by Mr. Fujita, who is known for his trademark afro, are not only delicious but also visually stunning. You can enjoy a feast for both your eyes and your palate. The drinks can be self-served from a large refrigerator, creating an innovative style. Every time I visit, I find different natural wines in stock, making each visit exciting. Since it has only recently opened, I'm looking forward to its evolution in the future!

The creative dishes were really delicious! I especially recommend the fried potato with sriracha mayo! There were many craft beers that you don't usually see as well. Above all, I was surprised by the color of the restroom (once I went in).

I visited during the evening. I was recommended the confit and hand-rolled sushi, so I tried a few of each. They all had flavors I had never experienced before, and they were incredibly delicious. I also ordered several other menu items, and they were all of a high standard as well. The location is quite difficult to access, but it's definitely worth the visit.
