It seems that Yuki Usagi has opened a store in Otaru. Intrigued by their recommended item, which comes in a small but cute blue package, I bought the "Otaruto" as a souvenir. The small size package contains two tarts. Yuki Usagi is famous for their chocolate-coated baum, but I was hesitant to bring it back in the sweltering summer heat. Although it is recommended to avoid high temperatures and humidity, it doesn't seem to melt right away. I brought it back and gave one to someone, who shared it with me on the spot. Unlike typical bite-sized tarts often given as souvenirs, this one is quite large and soft. The tart filling has a hint of almond flavor, with large sweet red beans inside, making it delicious! Don't assume that all souvenirs are the same. This is a delicious sweet treat that can be served with tea. With Otaru dominated by LeTAO, it's a tough competition for sweets on Sakaimachi Street, but I hope this shop continues to thrive.

I searched for a soft serve ice cream shop and found Yanagi Tsuki, so I decided to visit. It was my first time trying red bean soft serve ice cream. It was not too sweet, had a refreshing taste, and a strong red bean flavor. I chose the mixed flavor, but next time I want to try the red bean flavor only.

When it comes to Yuzuki, it's Sanpuroku! My husband's mother often sends us a selection of Yuzuki sweets. The Anbata sandwich from Yuzuki became a hot topic during the morning drama "Natsuzora," and I couldn't get it back then. This time, I bought the Melon and Tart from Sanpuroku for home use. The Melon from Sanpuroku, priced at 750 yen, feels like a Baumkuchen version of melon. Not only is the melon design cute, but it also has a nice melon scent. It's moist and delicious. The Tart, priced at 440 yen for 2 pieces, is an adaptation of the French Milriton. I don't know Milriton, but it's a tart filled with almond cream, and it also has candied red beans. The almond cream has a Hokkaido-like richness, with a strong buttery taste and a cheese-like richness. When I go to Hokkaido, I always buy a lot from Rokkatei, Yuzuki, Le Tao, and Royce twice a year, but I never get tired of the sweets. Thank you for the meal.

Afterwards, I visited Rokkatei and LeTAO, where there were more customers and the interior was stylish. The Otaruto is perfect as a souvenir for my colleagues. I bought a large quantity, and also bought some for myself. It was delicious with a rich butter flavor.

When we entered, we couldn't find the soft serve ice cream counter, but as we walked further back, we saw a big curtain that said "Tart Cafe". That's where we found it! If you enter from the canal side, it's right there! There are three flavors of soft serve ice cream available: "Milk", "Azuki", and "Mix". I chose the "Tokachi Azuki Soft Serve Ice Cream" for myself, while my companion chose the "Azuki Vanilla Mix". The price was reasonable for the amount of ice cream we got. Otaru shop open! It seems to have been last year. The main store is in Obihiro, but I bought one because it has 10 slices of Baumkuchen, which is popular with my colleagues who like it. I didn't have much time, so I chose the classic standard ⭐️ Sanpuroku for 680 yen. I chose the white chocolate side of the normal 68. It has two types of chocolate and is a good deal for its size considering the price! There was an interesting chair bench with the pattern in front of the store. I later regretted not choosing the Melon Chocolate side, which had more impact... There was also a tart called Otart with Daizu beans that looked delicious. The Tokachi Azuki soft serve ice cream was also very impactful! I wish I had more time to look around!

The Azuki soft-serve was made with Tokachi red beans, giving it a smooth texture without any roughness from the beans, and it was delicious. The Otaruto Tart was a tart made with Hokkaido fermented butter and honey-soaked red beans, offering a buttery and moist crust with the delightful taste and texture of the red beans. The Chi Choco Biscuits were cookies produced by Otaruto, topped with cheese chocolate. The cookies had a crispy and light texture, and the cheese chocolate, made with Hokkaido cheddar cheese, was sweet with a perfect balance of saltiness from the biscuits. I'm in Otaru enjoying myself (even though I'm not really a tourist, I'm pretending to be one). I came here for the Otaruto (tart) and red bean soft serve ice cream! (I've been curious about them for a while.) - Red Bean Soft Serve Ice Cream: The soft serve itself was very smooth, and I thought, "Ah, this tastes like the soft serve from a candy shop!" It has a rich milk flavor but is overall light. It reminded me of milk from a farm. It's not icy at all. The balance with the red beans was really good. The bottom of the waffle cone felt quite thick and a bit hard and sweet. I wonder if they make it that way? - Otaruto (Tart): The tart was moist throughout, without much crispiness. It felt like a moist pound cake to me (personally). The powdered sugar is intense, it spills everywhere. The honey-soaked red beans didn't taste like beans at all, more like they were overpowered by the butter or sponge cake texture. - Cheese Cookie: A slightly salty cheese (like cheesecake) with a crispy cookie. It also has a buttery taste. It could be a good snack. The cheese part peels off easily, so in the end, I was left with just the cookie. It's a rice cracker made with salmon flakes. The paper was bought at Sekoma and the salmon skin was also a favorite! Couldn't find the same thing, but found something similar! It was a great snack to have with family when drinking at home! It had a taste that goes well with alcohol and was delicious♪ My mom loved it, but my sister thought it was just okay haha.
