After finishing sightseeing in Muroran, there was something I just had to get my hands on before moving on. That is this bento box called "Haha-koi Meshi," which includes my favorite delicacy, Hokkai clams on rice balls, smoked cheese, and seaweed snacks. I was told that I could somehow get it at this shop, so I visited as soon as it opened. Located in a marine facility befitting a port town like Muroran, the shop is run by a very friendly lady. This bento box is more like a picnic basket, and although it's a bit pricey, I didn't mind at all! The illustrations and text on it are so well done that I decided to keep it instead of throwing it away.

Today, I received a delivery of "Yayan Konbu Shoyu" from the shop I always order from. I have tried various types of dashi soy sauce, but this one suits me the best. I first tried this soy sauce on sashimi at a hot spring inn, and it has been my favorite ever since.

Hokkaido Wanderlust Travel - Muroran City The reviews are divided between Haha-koi Meshi Honpo and Burotton, with the same phone number. (Contacted Tabelog) For now, I will review Haha-koi Meshi Honpo. The peninsula in Muroran is full of scenic spots. I walked along the coastline from the top of the cliff. I went to buy Haha-koi Meshi for tomorrow's breakfast. There seems to be reservation sales at Haha-koi Station. Inside the Muroran Port Enrum Marina building, there is a cafe called Burotton that also sells Haha-koi Meshi. I was surprised by the price! I was trying to stick to ¥1188 (good mother) but it's now ¥1399! There is a shop in Tomakomai City, the number one producer of surf clams, where you can buy surf clam rice balls cheaply. But for the sake of this trip... I have a 22L car refrigerator prepared for this trip, always kept cool with three ice packs. I enjoyed two surf clam rice balls, two and a half soft-boiled eggs, smoked cheese, seaweed candy, and it seems to be a good nutritional balance. As a service, they gave me a 500cc bottle of water from Kuromatsu. But, it's really too expensive.

【Takeout】My parents went on a drive and brought back souvenirs. Oh, this is quite an expensive product~ I've actually bought and eaten this before, so I know. It's a grateful souvenir! This is the famous station bento from Marenishikoru Main Store. I remember when I went to buy it before, it was limited in quantity and I barely managed to get it. It consists of two scallop rice balls as a base with some side dishes. Let's start with the rice balls. One bite. Huh!? This is too delicious~!! By far the most delicious scallop rice balls I've ever had! I didn't think it would be this good when I ate it before. I wonder if my taste buds have changed. Anyway, it's unbelievably delicious! Two rice balls this delicious, plus smoked cheese, simmered egg, wakame stems, and even candy included, I'm surprised. The simmered egg wasn't as impressive in taste, but the smoked cheese was delicious. Regardless, the scallop rice balls were dangerously delicious. Station bento. I thought there was nothing special for the price, but this is exceptional. There probably isn't a station bento that surpasses this. Among the station bentos I've eaten, this is definitely the best. I'm grateful to my parents for bringing it back, and I seriously thought I wouldn't mind going to buy it again. It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal♪

I made a reservation for Momoiro Meshi at 10:00 and arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes early to pick it up. I decided to ask if it was possible to prepare it earlier, and they had it ready in about 15 minutes. I am grateful for their quick response. The hokki clam in the Momoiro Meshi was thick and had a satisfying texture. The mixed rice had a gentle flavor. The smoked egg and cheese were also delicious.

I can't travel outside the prefecture, so I thought about getting a station bento through mail order. I found the "Hokki Meshi" bento from Muroran City, Hokkaido. I really want to try this! It includes two onigiri rice balls wrapped in a pink cloth, filled with hokki clam mixed rice, homemade smoked boiled eggs, and cheese snacks, as well as wakame stem and peppermint candy. I discovered that it is a refrigerated product limited to Hokkaido only. However, I can order the frozen hokki clam mixed rice nationwide! It is sold at the unmanned station "Hokki Station" in Muroran City. The name "Hokki" comes from the Ainu language, meaning a place with many hokki clams. The hokki clam and yayan konbu (thinly sliced kelp) onigiri are delicious. The frozen onigiri can be microwaved and the hokki clam is soft and sweet. It would be even better if the hokki clam flavor soaked into the rice a bit more. It goes well with udon or cup noodles at home. The bonus peppermint candy with a picture of the scenic view of Tomi Misaki Lighthouse in Muroran is a nice touch. I felt like I could smell the sea breeze of Muroran just a little bit. I would love to visit there someday. Thank you for the meal!
