Hmm, there's still an hour until the meeting time. What should I do? I thought about killing some time somewhere, and I ended up stopping by a place called "BAR E TAVOLA CALDL La Giostar". It's a bar, cafe, and tavern with an Italian vibe. The master used to work as a bartender and barista in Naples, Italy. The location of the shop is on the first floor of "TANUKI SQUARE" in the arcade of "Tanuki Koji 7-chome". Besides this shop, there are also other restaurants from the "La Giostar" group in the same "TANUKI SQUARE", including a pizzeria and a gelato shop nearby. I entered the shop at 5:58 PM. I'll spend the hour until the 7:00 PM appointment having a drink here. At this point, there was a single customer at the standing bar counter and a pair of customers, as well as another pair at a two-person table. The shop has space for about 4 people at the standing bar counter and 4 chairs at the two-person table. I chose the standing bar counter to enter. Let's start by quenching our thirst with a drink. "Sapporo Classic" for ¥500. I'll have a light beer here. Let's also order some light food to nibble on. However, I have plans for a hearty hot pot later, so let's keep it very light for now. "Assorted Appetizers" for ¥1,390. It's an antipasto misto. This dish has various antipasti served in small portions on the plate, making it perfect for times like this. Today, the antipasti included the following: 1) Chicken Liver Pate - A brownish chicken liver pate was served on a thin baguette with a light balsamic sauce drizzled on top. The liver flavor was subtle, making it suitable even for those who don't like liver. The sweetness of the balsamic sauce mixed in, giving it a dessert-like feel. 2) Duck Pate - Duck pate wrapped in something white that resembled bacon. It was drizzled with balsamic sauce and had a dollop of mustard. The duck meat tasted somewhat like tuna. The wild, gamey flavor of duck was a bit mild, though. 3) Sauteed Italian Greens - The name of the greens was explained by the master, but I forgot it. It was something like Chichoria or Cima di Rapa. It wasn't endive, I think. The sauteed greens were tender, with a gentle bitterness that made it a good snack with alcohol. 4) Mortadella - Two slices of Mortadella, a Bologna sausage. It was slightly salty and had a strong meaty flavor. 5) Prosciutto - A slice of prosciutto. I'm not sure if this was it, but it was similar. It was also salty like Mortadella but had a rich, aged meat flavor. 6) Ancient Wheat and Pancetta Salad - A salad of ancient Italian wheat and pancetta dressed with dressing in a shot glass. The wheat, possibly Farro, had a crispy texture. I can't remember the exact name of the wheat. Pancetta is salt-cured pork belly, and this salad was a delightful mixture of flavors. By the way, in Italy, they are reviving various ancient wheat varieties for cultivation.
