A long-established ramen shop near Tokiwai Rotary in Asahikawa City. I had been curious about this shop for a while, so I decided to visit for lunch during a trip to the Okhotsk region. Since there didn't seem to be a dedicated parking lot, we parked our car at a nearby coin parking lot. It was a holiday weekend, so we were prepared for a long line, but there were only about 5 groups ahead of us, which was less than we had imagined (although there was a long line behind us...). The interior of the shop had a retro atmosphere with counter seats and table seats. As a popular shop that has been around for a long time, the walls were decorated with many autographed photos of celebrities. An elderly couple (?) was running the shop, and even with many customers lined up, they worked diligently and in a warm and friendly manner. The menu offers "shoyu," "shio," "miso," and "shoga" ramen, each with variations like chashu, egg, and butter. As the shop is famous for its "shoga" (ginger) ramen, I decided to try the "shoga ramen (700 yen)." It was ready in about 15 minutes. I had imagined a soy sauce soup with ginger, but it was different than expected, with a light soy sauce flavor and a hint of ginger. At first, it felt a bit lacking, but as I continued eating, it became just right. The portion size is not very large, so if you're hungry, I recommend getting the "oomori" (large serving). There were more local regular customers than tourists, so it's understandable why they have been in business for so long. It may be challenging for those who prefer modern rich flavors, but it's recommended for those who enjoy light ramen.
