During thunder and roaring, rain turns into hail and attacks with a crackling sound. On this day, winter seems to be rushing in quickly, and that's the timing in Otaru. There are several markets in Otaru, and this Otaru Sankaku Market was a first for me. The 8 kinds of seafood bowl included ikura, scallop, salmon, sweet shrimp, shiokara, autumn salmon, soy, and egg, with plenty of sliced ginger on vinegar rice and salmon miso soup on the side. The salmon head adds a nice flavor, the egg yolk is delicious, and the daikon radish is well seasoned. The shrimp is of decent size, fresh with the head still on. The ikura has a slightly sharp salty taste with the skin still on. The shiokara is like Matsu-zuke, a nice addition to the rice. The sashimi quality overall didn't stand out, but it felt like the seafood bowl had good freshness. The ginger didn't seem to enhance the other ingredients much. I learned that this place is affiliated with the Kaimono-ya chain in Sapporo, but the content was quite different. It seems more geared towards tourists, similar to the seafood bowls at Sapporo's Nijo Market or around the Central Wholesale Market. It's one of the stores operated by Ebisu Sakura, which also runs Kaimono-ya in Tanukikoji and Ishikari Baya in the fresh market. Overall 3.1, Taste 3.1, Service 3.3, Atmosphere 3.1, Cost performance 3.3, Drinks not rated.
