At Hakodate Daimon Yokochō, this was our fourth stop for drinks. We had two glasses of Asahi Super Dry draft beer for 550 yen each. For our second round, we ordered homemade sangria for 450 yen. All dishes were priced at 450 yen each. We tried the scallop escargot butter grill, which was cooked right in front of us, and the thick-cut lamb herb grill, which had a hint of basil. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere of the bar was very comfortable and well-balanced.

This restaurant is great because everything is priced at 400 yen, making it easy to calculate. I ordered a draft beer, pork skewers, and raw ham. The pork skewers were delicious with wasabi, creating a nice blend of meat flavor and wasabi that tingles the nose. The raw ham was perfect, whether eaten with the salad it comes with or on its own.

This is a shop inside the Yokocho alley with a focus on grilled pork skewers. I was interested in trying the original cocktail called Hakodate Blue, so I ordered it. I was also curious about the Hakodate Bulldog. It seems like everything is priced at 400 yen. It was quite crowded.

I stayed at a hotel near Hakodate Station in July 2019, so I visited Odori Yokocho within walking distance. It's an exciting alley full of lively atmosphere. I visited various shops, enjoying different atmospheres with each drink. It's charming how easy it is to connect with tourists, foreigners, and locals. The food is unique and delicious, making Odori Yokocho a very enjoyable experience. Thank you for the meal!

On the first night of my trip to Hakodate, after enjoying seafood at an izakaya, we decided to try some meat at a yakitori restaurant we spotted with the words "grilled pork" on the sign. As we entered the empty restaurant, my husband immediately found a car poster and started chatting with the master about cars. I, not being very knowledgeable about cars, focused on the menu. My husband ordered a beer, while I, feeling a bit full, asked for something non-alcoholic. The master recommended a Yamazaki plum wine on the rocks, which I enjoyed.
- Specialty grilled pork (Mori Town SPF pork): Thick, juicy, and flavorful with good fat content. When dipped in the accompanying wasabi, the flavor becomes even more delicious!
- Hot fried potatoes: Crispy and hot, with a thick cut that makes them fluffy and delicious.
- Wiener sausage set of 3: Cheese-filled, garlic-filled, and spicy chorizo. The cheese was melty and delicious, the garlic was full of flavor, and the chorizo was spicy. I passed on the chorizo due to the heat.
- Beef tongue: Firm texture with a satisfying chew, delicious when dipped in wasabi.
- Nut assortment: Nuts, rice crackers, and salami with lemon slices. Squeezing lemon juice on the salami adds a refreshing kick.
- Dassai sake lees ice cream: A unique dessert with a subtle sweetness and refreshing taste.
The master was friendly and engaging, paying attention to each customer and providing timely service. He added little touches like garnishes and cutting the wieners in half. When I mentioned wanting something sweet, he offered the sake lees ice cream. He maintained a good balance of interaction while serving food and drinks. The pricing was straightforward, with all dishes priced at 400 yen. I will definitely visit again when in Daimon Yokocho. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The pork skewers were delicious, with a soft texture and no unpleasant smell. The pork meatballs were also very flavorful with a generous portion, seasoned with a basil-infused Western flavor. The owner, who has a friendly personality, prepares everything with care and has a strong commitment to quality food. It's a place you'll want to visit again.

There were empty seats, so I went for the first time in two years. Most items are 400 yen, which is a selling point. You can see them making the food right in front of you. I tried the pork skewers, which I think are their signature dish. It was delicious and satisfying.

The pork is incredibly delicious! The skewered fatty meat ordered is delicious, and the meat is also delicious. The tomato bacon is very hot, so be careful. I want to aim to conquer the menu at this restaurant.

This restaurant is a place I always wanted to go when I visit Hakodate, but it's always packed so sometimes I can't get in. The chefs cook right in front of you and the food is always delicious. It seems like there are many local customers as well.

I went again this year. There was a menu guide for items that are served quickly because the cooking takes a little time. I ordered four thick pork skewers while enjoying a draft beer. The cooking was still meticulous. The pork skewers were delicious, perfectly seasoned, and even tastier with wasabi.

This time, I went because there was a vacant seat. I had thick grilled pork skewers and draft beer. The cooking was careful to watch, it's delicious, of course. A Korean person came, and they were friendly and easy to understand about the menu. It's a restaurant I want to visit again.

I went to Odori Yokocho in Hakodate. There were many shops to choose from, but since I wasn't very hungry, I decided to go to this place where I could eat quickly. The shop was small with only a few customers. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff were attentive. The menu was simple with everything priced at 400 yen. I tried the asparagus bacon, thick-cut pork belly, and scallops grilled with butter. The food was delicious and the chef prepared everything with care. The shop had a fun game where you had to throw rings and the number of rings you landed on determined your final bill. It was a unique and enjoyable experience. This is a great place to stop by on your way back from somewhere else!

On the first night in Hakodate in September 2014, I couldn't sleep at all on the bus ride from Sapporo, so after checking into the hotel, I took a short nap for about 2 hours and then went out to enjoy Hakodate at night. The first place I visited was Hako Tachi Bar in Daimon Yokocho, where I was impressed by the deliciousness of the thick-cut pork belly skewers from SPF Mori Machi! The special thing about this pork belly is that the fat is incredibly sweet, and the meat is tender and juicy, making it so delicious that you won't get tired of eating it. Daimon Yokocho in Hakodate is truly a spot filled with hidden power!!! Thank you for the meal!

Hakodate, Hokkaido. Hakodate is known for being one of the first cities in Japan to start trading with foreign countries, alongside Yokohama and Nagasaki. The town is characterized by its unique blend of Western-influenced buildings, creating a charming exotic atmosphere. The landscape seamlessly combines Japanese and Western elements, exoticism and romance, retro and modern, with the sea and mountains merging together. The JR Hakodate Station is located right by the sea, which is quite exciting. The station has a building with souvenir shops and restaurants. Nearby, there is a street called "Asaichi" which is bustling with shops even at night. About a 5-minute walk from the station is the "Hakodate Hikari Yokocho" area, where various eateries like izakayas, ramen shops, sushi restaurants, oden stalls, and more can be found. It's a lively place with a mix of people from different backgrounds, all coming together to create a vibrant food alley. One particular restaurant called "Yakiton & Choimin Hakodate Bar" caught the attention with its red lanterns and glass walls. The menu offers a variety of skewers, fried foods, salads, and seafood dishes at reasonable prices. The atmosphere inside is filled with the lively chatter of customers and the hard work of the owner behind the counter. The food is delicately presented and the pork skewers are juicy and flavorful. Despite the busy environment, the owner seems to handle everything alone, making the service a bit slow. Overall, it's a great place to stop by for a quick drink and some tasty bites.

Several years ago in Obihiro, a successful example led to the establishment of a scheme/format called "Yatai Village" in Hokkaido, where small food stalls gathered in major cities one after another, becoming a bit of a trend. The style emphasized communication, with narrow seats where strangers could strike up conversations shoulder to shoulder. On the flip side, it might be a bit difficult to enter if you want to enjoy a drink alone. The catchphrases like "Hakodate Bar" or "Yakitori/Choi-nomi" are friendly and easy to enter. Despite having a small kitchen, they use charcoal grilling, with dynamic meat cuts/portion sizes, quality of meat, saltiness, and seasoning all done above average. And the satisfaction for the price is quite good. One thing that caught my eye was the earnest yet slightly wild demeanor of the owner. While being polite to customers, the roughness towards neighboring competitors (as there are many delivery requests in the Yatai Village) may be a bit concerning for women, etc. Also, the serving time for each dish was too long on the day of the visit. Especially in a Yatai Village, you would want to eat and drink quickly. I believe that busyness and congestion can be overcome with planning and preparation, but this place hasn't quite mastered that. It all depends on the owner's skill in utilizing the advantages of a small kitchen, minimizing the disadvantages, and how they create an enjoyable time on the "stage" of the open kitchen in the food stall. From what I saw, it seems to be a place beloved by local regulars, so in the major tourist destination of Hakodate, I hope they can be performers who can also captivate first-time visitors.

Living in Hakodate, it has become a habit to start the day at the morning market and end the night at Omote Sando. So, just before the day changed, I came to Omote Sando for a drink. Even though it was a Saturday night, most of the shops were already closed, so I visited this shop that was still open. The brochure introducing Omote Sando described it as a standing bar, but there were about 7 high stools and about 70% of them were occupied by customers. I ordered homemade sangria (380 yen), two skewers of SPF pork tsukune (380 yen), fried takoyaki (6 pieces, 190 yen), and a highball (380 yen). The homemade sangria had a normal taste. The whiskey in the highball seemed to be Jack Daniel's. The tsukune was like a hamburger and had a pretty strong flavor. I thought it was just a typical shop, but the owner was engrossed in a long conversation about a Gundam game with one of the regular customers. It's fine to engage with customers, but forgetting other customers' orders because of being so focused is not ideal for a business. I was a bit put off, so I left the shop quickly. This place is more suited for Gundam gamers or those who don't mind being ignored.
