This is my visit since August 2022. The prices have increased by 100 yen. I ordered the usual set for 1,100 yen. Dad ordered ramen and mom ordered curry. The nostalgic soy sauce ramen is delicious, but the curry rice made by mom after taking the order is exceptional. It's a shame that the standard set only includes soy sauce ramen.

This place is said to be the birthplace of Sapporo ramen. It's not miso ramen! The light soy sauce flavor is too delicious and it really warms your body! The seasoned egg topping is also incredibly tasty, and the egg-like thing is just exquisite. It's addictive in its own way, not being miso ramen!

I have visited this place several times but this is my first post. This time, I ordered the curry rice set because I love their curry rice with pork belly. I also ordered a half portion of soy sauce ramen, which is my favorite. I definitely want to visit again.

We stayed at a nearby hotel due to the restaurant opening at 11 o'clock, so a few of us visited. The atmosphere exuded a sense of history, and our expectations were high as we placed our orders. The ramen arrived in about 10 minutes, and the soup, despite its appearance, was robust and delicious, with no additives. The noodles were homemade and paired perfectly with the soup, making it a high-quality bowl of ramen. What surprised us the most was that when four more people tried to enter, the restaurant closed its doors. It seems that you can only stay for about 30 minutes. We were lucky to have had the chance to enjoy this rare and delicious ramen. We are grateful and will definitely visit again when we come back to Sapporo.

I visited "Daruma-ken" in Nijo Market in Sapporo around 11:00 on Sunday and was able to get in easily! The restaurant was established in 1947 and is known for being the originator of Sapporo Ramen. I tried their recommended Shoyu Ramen and Miso Ramen. The ramen had a traditional taste and even came with a rolled omelette, which surprisingly complemented the dish well. The noodles are made with only kansui and wheat flour, and the soup is made with only good ingredients without any additives, which was very satisfying. Nowadays, many ramen dishes are very rich in flavor, but the ones here were light and exactly to my liking. I had a seafood bowl before, but I finished the ramen easily. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The appearance is very fierce... However, despite the appearance, the owner is very friendly. It's confusing because the inside doesn't match the outside. The ramen is a very honest ramen. It tastes just like it looks, and it doesn't disappoint. The best place is where the owner defies expectations and the ramen lives up to its appearance.

I visited a long-established ramen shop for the first time, was guided to my seat, and looked over the menu. Naturally, I ordered the soy sauce ramen. The scene felt somewhat nostalgic with the swirl of the egg, generous slices of chashu, and topped with green onions. The soup was slightly lukewarm, and personally, I prefer it piping hot. The noodles were soft, and the soy sauce ramen had a light flavor. I think this is just right for those who can eat it every day without getting tired of it. Thank you for the meal.

It is the morning opening time, the restaurant opens between 9 am and 11 am. Please check on Facebook or Twitter for the exact opening time on the day. The restaurant often closes around 1 pm, so please be aware of that. Closed on Thursdays. The restaurant was founded by the late Mr. Nishiyama, who trained at a ramen shop in Tokyo in 1947. It has a history of 76 years. In 1949, a factory production started to supply noodles to other shops, which is the origin of Nishiyama Seimen's Sapporo noodles. There are table seats and counter seats, with partitions at the counter, creating a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The recommended set menu is the "Standard Set" (1100 yen), which includes ramen and small curry rice. The soup is made from pork bones and chicken bones, creating a gentle and nostalgic flavor. The homemade noodles are thin and curly, slightly soft in texture, and have a good amount. The chashu (roast pork) is well-seasoned with a balance of sweetness and saltiness. The toppings include Datemaki (rolled omelette), top-quality green onions, finely sliced menma (bamboo shoots), and a small piece of nori (seaweed). The curry, served in a square bowl, is medium to spicy and includes thinly sliced pork belly and onions. Overall, it is a delightful experience for those who prefer a more traditional and mild ramen taste.

I had a refreshing soy sauce ramen. I stopped by a ramen shop on a whim, and as everyone had mentioned, it was a perfect light and refreshing ramen for breakfast, with a clean aftertaste. It warmed me up! It was the first time since Inoue in Tsukiji, Tokyo, that I left a restaurant without drinking water! Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the Chaashu Men Shio (1,150 yen) with an ajitama (120 yen) topping. The total was 1,270 yen. I visited around 11:40 am on Saturday. There was no wait, with only about 3 customers ahead of me. When I tried to order the set menu, they said they were out of rice, so I ended up ordering the Chaashu Men Shio with the ajitama topping instead. By 12 pm, they had sold out of noodles and closed. I barely made it in time! The Chaashu Men Shio had a light and satisfying salt flavor that I could eat any time of day. The chashu had just the right amount of fat, adding a nice punch to the overall taste. I noticed that the yellow swirls in other people's ramen were tamagoyaki (rolled omelette), but it wasn't included in mine. I wonder if it's because I ordered the Chaashu Men Shio with the ajitama topping. I'll have to go earlier next time to try the set menu. Thank you for the meal.

I visited "Daruma-ken" at Nijo Market in Sapporo during my recent business trip. I had been curious about this place for a while, and after seeing posts from my followers, I was even more eager to go. I finally had the chance to visit on a Monday after the weekend, around 12:30. The restaurant was about half full with locals, and I sat at the counter. I wanted to order the "Shoyu Chashu Ramen," but the owner apologized and said they were sold out of chashu. So, I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" instead. It arrived in about 5-6 minutes, and it looked like a traditional Chinese-style ramen. The soup was light yet flavorful, with no artificial seasonings, and the homemade thin curly noodles were very satisfying. The toppings included pork chashu, menma, chopped green onions, nori, and even datemaki, which is rare in ramen. As I was enjoying my meal, I found a little surprise at the bottom of the bowl, which I realized was a thoughtful gesture from the owner for not having the chashu ramen I initially wanted. Despite having already eaten lunch, I left feeling happy and satisfied after finishing the delicious ramen. I didn't get to try the "Curry Rice," which I was also curious about, so I'll have to come back for that. Thank you for the tasty ramen and the kind gesture. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Daidaruma-ken for breakfast after undergoing the usual lower gastrointestinal endoscopy examination the day before. The restaurant was crowded with tourists enjoying seafood bowls at Nijo Market, but I managed to find a seat at the counter. I ordered the soy sauce ramen, which arrived quickly. The soup was light yet flavorful, and the noodles had a nice chewy texture. The toppings like chashu and rolled omelette were beautifully arranged and delicious. I would love to try their ramen and curry combo next time. After the meal, I took a stroll around the market before heading to my next dining destination. Note: Due to the current situation, prices have increased.

2022♡♡73rd bowl on 9/27 a little after 10 AM. They were serving soy sauce ramen, which I thought they weren't because I heard they open at 11 AM or 10 AM sometimes. So, I decided to do a ramen crawl (lol). I chose soy sauce flavor. There were no other customers. I always thought it would be crowded, but going early in the morning is recommended (*^^*). The soup was mild and gentle, maybe a bit too light due to various additives, but that's what makes it good! The chashu was a bit tough but flavorful! Next time, I'll try the chashu-men. They said it's a ramen you could eat every day, but for me, it's more like a ramen I crave once in a while (lol). Thank you for the meal!

I visited "Daruma-ken" on September 10th for the first time. Daruma-ken is a legendary restaurant in Sapporo, known for being the first to serve ramen in the city. According to the information on Tabelog, they open at 11:00, but when I visited today, they were open at 9:00. I decided to take on the challenge. I arrived at 10:20 and there were already 3 groups of 4 customers ahead of me. As soon as I entered, the hostess asked me to disinfect my hands with alcohol (in a slightly stern tone). The restaurant has a counter seat along the spacious kitchen. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter and ordered the soy sauce ramen for 800 yen, which is the first item on the menu. It arrived in about 6 minutes. The bowl was a typical high-sided one with toppings such as old-fashioned chewy chashu, thinly sliced negi, menma, nori, and thin kamaboko. The noodles were medium-thin and had a slight slimy texture, maybe due to excess flour or a botched draining process. Despite being a legendary establishment, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. During my meal, the hostess scolded other customers for their conversation. While I believe it was well-intentioned, it came off as a bit overbearing, almost like the "corona police." I wish they would engage in more typical customer service interactions. One interesting item in the kitchen that caught my eye was an old-fashioned black telephone, possibly a rare wall-mounted model. It seemed to be in working condition, which was a first for me to see. Overall, if you're interested in experiencing a bit of history, this restaurant is worth a visit.

味噌ラーメン(札幌)

This is the originator of Sapporo ramen. The miso ramen has a watery soup with a hint of miso flavor and lots of oil floating on top. The straight noodles are soft, and the chashu is on the firm side. The soy sauce ramen is oily and salty but lacks depth of flavor. It seems like a classic ramen from the good old days when there wasn't much variety. The retro Showa era atmosphere is not bad, but it's too old-fashioned to evoke any nostalgia.

I went to Takae Sushi in Nijo Market for an early lunch, and then I visited Daruma-ken, a long-established ramen shop that is said to be the origin of Sapporo ramen, also located in the same market. The shop has a traditional atmosphere with a red color scheme. Although I had planned to visit between 8:00 and 14:00, on this particular day they opened at 11:00, so I had to wait a little. Most people order the shoyu ramen at this shop, which comes in miso, shio, and shoyu varieties. The founder of Nishiyama Seimen, who makes the noodles, used to make noodles here. Therefore, I ordered the shoyu ramen. Shoyu Ramen (800 yen): The noodles were cooked firm and the shoyu soup was very light and gentle on the body, but the umami of the broth gradually came through. The noodles, made in-house as always since the shop was established in 1947, had an excellent texture and paired perfectly with the soup. This ramen, made without any chemical seasonings, was so delicious that I could easily finish it without any resistance. The friendly head chef with a smiling face added to the pleasant dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

In the market of Nijo, there is a long-established ramen shop. On Sunday before 11 o'clock, there were 6 customers in front and 2 customers behind. Today it was open. Last time I visited, it was closed for some reason. Maybe because there are few tourists? I ordered the ramen at the top of the menu (800 yen), which is soy sauce flavored. The menu has both soy sauce ramen (800 yen) and ramen (800 yen) soy sauce, but I think they are the same. After the previous customer finished eating, my bowl arrived in about 10 minutes. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy observing the interior of the shop and the actions of the old man (3rd generation?). First, the soup. Hmm, something seems to be missing. Maybe the saltiness and the umami are lacking. My taste buds have gotten used to the recent ramen with artificial seasonings, so maybe my tongue is at fault. The round egg roll is a feature, and there is hardly any oil floating. The noodles are chewy, but not yellow. Other toppings include chashu, menma, seaweed, and green onions. Cute fonts of menus and quotes are displayed all over the shop. Below are the commitment statements displayed in the shop. Established for over 70 years "The original Sapporo ramen" Our ramen is made with homemade noodles using only high-quality kan water and flour, without any coloring. The soup always goes back to basics, stubbornly sticking to the fundamentals, cherishing the raw flavor and not using anything harmful to the body. We make ramen with the utmost care so that you can enjoy it without getting tired of it even if you eat it every day. Please feel free to let us know your preferred taste. We hope you can enjoy it with peace of mind. To all customers, Shop Owner

5th day of my business trip in Sapporo. Today is the day I fly back to Tokyo in the evening. While waiting for my laundry to dry, I had breakfast at Daruma-ken. It is located a 5-minute walk from Bus Center Mae Station, a 6-minute walk from Susukino Station, and an 8-minute walk from Odori Station, inside Nijo Market. Daruma-ken is a long-established shop founded in 1947, known as the originator of Sapporo ramen. I arrived around 9:20. The current opening hours are from 8:00 to 14:00. The interior of the shop is very well-maintained as always. There are 28 seats in total, including counter and table seats. I was the only customer at that time, so I sat at the counter. On the table, there were garlic, pepper, chili pepper, sesame seeds, chopsticks, soup spoons, and toothpicks provided, and water was served after seating. Daruma-ken is famous for its popular set menu consisting of soy sauce ramen and a small serving of curry rice, but since I had a similar set at Yuzuki the day before and I love Daruma-ken's chashu, I ordered: - Chashu Ramen for 1,050 yen - Flavored egg for 120 yen, totaling 1,170 yen. The food arrived promptly in about 3 minutes. Just looking at it, you can tell it's delicious! The chashu, which I love, consisted of 5 large slices. Other toppings included traditional menma, green onions, and a flavored egg. The noodles were homemade using high-quality kansui and wheat flour only. The gentle soup was so delicious that I finished it all as usual... The impressive service at Daruma-ken left a lasting impression. Be sure to visit it at least once!

In Sapporo, Hokkaido, there is a market called "Nijo Market" where Hokkaido seafood, processed products, vegetables, fruits, and more are sold. The market has a long history, starting with fishermen from Ishikari Beach selling fresh fish along the Ishikari River in the early Meiji period. Originally, a group of fish sellers established the "Thirteen Association" on the east side of the river, which eventually became the Nijo Market we know today. In 1902, a large fire destroyed the area, but it was rebuilt by volunteers and expanded to become one of Sapporo's famous markets by 1910. I visited one of the market's iconic restaurants, "Daruma-ken," a renowned Sapporo ramen shop. The shop was founded in 1947 by Seiji Nishiyama, who had trained in various noodle dishes before opening Daruma-ken at Nijo Market in 1949. Due to the shop's popularity, Seiji's cousin, Takayuki Nishiyama, was brought in to oversee the noodle-making department. In 1953, Takayuki established "Nishiyama Seimenjo," which developed the curly yellow noodles that are now a typical feature of Sapporo ramen. I visited Daruma-ken on a Wednesday morning and ordered their signature soy sauce ramen. The soup was made with pork bones and chicken broth, with a gentle and light flavor. The homemade noodles were made from high-quality kansui and wheat flour, with a smooth and chewy texture. The ramen came with unique toppings like tender char siu, sweet tamagoyaki, and slightly wilted seaweed. It was a delightful experience to visit this historic ramen shop that played a significant role in the history of Sapporo ramen.

In Sapporo, I had breakfast at Nijo Market. The sushi restaurant I wanted to go to was closed, and all the seafood bowl places were crowded and expensive, so I ended up having ramen. I heard that "Daruma-ken" inside the market building, which opened in 1947, is the oldest ramen shop in Sapporo that still exists. I ordered the classic set of soy sauce ramen and small curry rice. The homemade noodles made with only water and wheat flour had a satisfying chewy texture. The soup seemed light at first, but the more I drank it, the deeper the umami flavor became, indicating that they carefully made the broth. It was interesting to find rolled omelette in the toppings. The curry had a thick roux and a gentle flavor, reminiscent of old-fashioned taste. Even though it was simple, it had a depth to it. It was a bowl that made me feel the strength of a long-standing traditional shop that has survived. Also, I was surprised to see a wall-mounted black telephone still in operation.

I came to Nijo Market in Sapporo for breakfast and stumbled upon Daruma-ken, which I remembered eating and enjoying about 20 years ago. They were open for business in the morning, so I decided to change my plans from seafood to ramen. Daruma-ken usually serves late-night ramen, so this was a rare opportunity. I opted for a simple soy sauce ramen with flavorful broth, slightly chewy noodles, topped with egg and seaweed. This might just be the perfect breakfast choice in Sapporo.
