Located just a few minutes' walk from the second torii gate of Hokkaido Shrine, this restaurant faces the parking lot of the shrine. Upon entering, I was seated at a table right away. I looked through the menu, which included two types of porridge and a variety of other dishes. I decided to order the "Ume Set," which came with Gobo tea, Kenkoshu porridge (white), and pickles. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. The porridge was piping hot, so I blew on it to cool it down before taking a bite. The porridge had a sweet flavor from the rice. Next to the porridge were three round, semi-transparent items in shot glasses, which turned out to be frozen dashi. Adding this to the hot porridge not only added more flavor but also helped adjust the temperature. The pickles and plum meat provided a nice acidity that complemented the porridge well. The Gobo tea had a distinct flavor of burdock, giving it a slight savory taste. Overall, the "Ume Set" cost 1,288 yen including tax. I also ordered the "Salmon Ikura" shown in the photo for an additional charge.

I had intended to visit a place with a different name, but I completely forgot about Hakushika in the Jingu Forest. Just like the previous shop, it is a porridge restaurant, so it seems like it would come in handy the day after drinking. It used to be called Shira Shika Shokudo, but it has been rebranded as Hakushika in the Jingu Forest, with a new name, interior, and content upgrade. The air in the clear shop is well air-conditioned. Stylish fusion music plays from quality audio equipment. The Kenkoshu porridge set (with Chinese herbal medicine and Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi rice) includes hand-pulled Shiretoko salmon, ikura, soft white leeks, ginger, Lake Abashiri smelt simmered in sweet syrup, and cherry blossom kelp tea. You can feel the surface of the porridge and think that the whole thing is like that. The porridge, which seems good for digestion, and the body-friendly condiments make for a nourishing taste. The Kenkoshu porridge is made with Chinese herbal medicine from the Rengeto of the Palace Forest, bringing out the sweetness of the rice, mixed with sesame, hand-pulled salmon, and ikura, and adding a little dashi, making it even more delicious. Adding a little dashi to the porridge alone is also good, and when you eat it with soft white leeks and ginger, the deliciousness leaps even further. I feel that the ingredients are carefully selected. The sweet and salty taste of the Lake smelt simmered in sweet syrup complements the porridge well. The cherry blossom kelp tea is lightly salted and healthy. The noren curtain was made by the Kondo Dyeing Factory in Asahikawa using traditional dyeing methods. This is a prelude to Asahikawa - a good start!

Just a stone's throw away from Hokkaido Shrine's parking lot, there is a specialty porridge restaurant. Upon entering, guests are guided to empty seats after sanitizing their hands at the entrance. There are three set menu options, and the reviewer chose the "Pine Set." Orders are taken at the counter where payment is made upfront. After a brief wait, the food is served in a large bowl of "healthy porridge" made with locally sourced "Nanatsuboshi" rice, giving it a sweet taste. The set meal includes three side dishes: "Wakasagi Sweet and Salty Simmered in Lake Abashiri," "Soft White Leek with Ginger," and "Hand-pulled Salmon and Salmon Roe from Shiretoko." Each dish has its unique flavors and textures, enhancing the overall dining experience. Additional condiments like "sligoma" and broth are provided to customize the porridge. The reviewer recommends adding all the salmon and salmon roe to the porridge, drizzling sligoma and broth for the best taste. The "Pine Set" costs 1,688 yen including tax and left the reviewer feeling satisfied. They plan to try a different set with additional items on their next visit.

A restaurant next to Hokkaido Shrine that serves delicious porridge. On this day, I chose my favorite toppings a la carte. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, with tables and chairs made from Hokkaido wood, creating a calming atmosphere. Looking out the window, you can see the forest of the shrine. The food is gentle and soothing, with the sweetness of the porridge seeping into your body. The toppings have a savory taste, which pairs well with the porridge. They use seasonal Hokkaido ingredients, so I want to visit again to try different dishes. I'm not a fan of porridge, but the porridge here was delicious! Eating porridge with toppings, visiting Hokkaido Shrine, and having Hanako at Rokkatei inside the shrine has become my go-to routine. Laughing. -----Menu on the day----- - Healthy porridge (herbal) 888 yen - Plum 88 yen - Shiretoko salmon and salmon roe 258 yen - Scallop and kelp 288 yen - Corn potage 398 yen ------------------------------- 【Business Hours】 Weekdays 11:00-14:30 Weekends and holidays 10:00-14:30 【Closed】 【Advance Reservation】Not required 【Budget】1,000 yen~ 【Address】1239-1 Miyanomori, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido
