The upscale restaurant located in the new Chitose Airport, which opened in February this year, is the Kyoto branch of Shimogamo Charyo. It has a very luxurious atmosphere. The meal consists of appetizers, soup, sashimi, grilled dishes, hot dishes, main course, and dessert, all of which were delicious. However, what surprised me the most was the stunning presentation of each dish. It's a restaurant that makes you want to come back again.

I went to Hanare at Kamogawa Charyo Kitano seeking kaiseki cuisine. Even though I was dining alone, they welcomed me warmly. They recommended a semi-private room when I made a reservation, so I could enjoy the food without worrying about others. I chose the Takumi course this time, which was a huge luxury for me. I had been adjusting my dinner diet for a week in preparation for this. The meal started with a sake aperitif followed by a variety of appetizers. The paired sake was Mizubasho Pure Sparkling, which was delightful. The steamed abalone and seared fish were fresh and tender. The soup course featured sea bream and turnip with crispy fish scales. The sashimi course included live Matsuba crab, fatty tuna, and squid. The grilled dish was delicious mackerel with Kyoto miso and pickles. The intermezzo was buckwheat noodles with taro and quail egg. The main course was simmered Alfonsino with Kinjiro green onion. The rice dish was Kyoto Kameoka rice cooked in a pot with red miso soup. The dessert consisted of three types of sweets, all of which were delicious. The meal ended with a thin tea. The presentation and serving dishes reflected the season and were perfect for entertaining important guests or special occasions. They also offer lunch, so I plan to visit again for that.
