I had plans to drive around the Abashiri area and came across this place while looking for a destination. Both local and rental cars were constantly coming in. The gelato lined up at the counter was all tempting, making it hard to choose. I ended up getting a double scoop of classic milk and roasted green tea, which was delicious. I would like to visit again.

After being healed at the Ohotsk Shimarisu Park, we entered the shop a little after 4 pm. We had looked up the menu in advance, and it turns out you can choose from about 10 types that day. It was a bit disappointing (^◇^;) There was only one group of customers before us, lucky us! My wife and I decided on 6 types, but we both insisted on pistachio and milk, so I chose mango and my wife chose strawberry for the remaining 2 types. Luckily, there were seats available inside, so we took a break and enjoyed our sweet time. We relaxed too much and ended up running late for our next plans... Milk was refreshing and easy to eat, and the strong flavor of pistachio was delicious. The rich mango was also tasty. My wife's strawberry, compared to mango, had a lighter taste, but I personally liked its refreshing flavor. They were all delicious, but honestly, I didn't feel like I was tasting something unique that couldn't be found elsewhere. I made a mistake expecting the taste of "Matsubokkuri" near the Koiwai Farm.

I chose the Ibara Triple at the Endo Women's Airport in Abashiri, about 20 minutes away. The salt and strawberry, crab, and pistachio flavors were all delicious! The base milk was really tasty. However, I couldn't quite taste the crab. I'm not from Hokkaido, so I don't have many opportunities to go, but whenever I can, I definitely want to go. I wonder when that will be next.

When you go to Abashiri, you can't miss this gelato shop! After visiting the Abashiri Prison Museum, it's snack time. If you drive along Lake Abashiri, you'll find Gelateria Limo. The shop was bustling with customers at 4:00 PM. Today they had 11 flavors of gelato. Uno (single) for 450 yen, Due (double) for 550 yen, and Tre (triple) for 600 yen. I couldn't decide, so I ordered Tre (triple) - Ibara x Strawberry Sorbet x Gianduia. Ibara, a mysterious challenge flavor, was a choice I made. It had the roast of Abashiri's specialty Ibara crab with pistachio. The taste exceeded my expectations. It's a flavor that you can only experience here, full of local charm. I wish everyone would try this flavor! If you're not a fan of crustaceans, you might not enjoy the taste. Pistachio as the base, followed by a strong crab flavor! Refreshing strawberry sorbet with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. It's a safe and enjoyable taste. I'm glad I ordered this one. Gianduia had a hazelnut flavor with a richness that harmonized well with the chocolate aroma. It's no wonder it's popular. It's really delicious and affordable. I confidently recommend it as a stopover spot in eastern Hokkaido.

Around noon, I visited by car and indeed it seems difficult to get here without a car... It was a rainy day, but there were about three groups of customers ahead of me! I quickly got my turn and selected yogurt and pistachio flavors. There seems to be a flavor called crab shell... I wonder what that tastes like. Thank you for the meal. ᐟ.ᐟ

Near Abashiri Prison, there is a popular gelato shop. It might have a line, but the wait isn't too bad. Definitely worth stopping by while sightseeing.
Their specialty is the Triple Gelato, with the standout being the Ibara flavor made with roasted Ibara crab, pistachio, and a unique marriage of flavors. Yes, it's crab gelato, which is quite unusual. When I visited with a friend, we tried six flavors. We ordered the Ibara, Milk, Strawberry, Rich Chocolate, Tiramisu, and Salt Magic (topped with Manuka honey and coffee beans).
The Ibara flavor does have a hint of crab taste, but it's not off-putting. I probably wouldn't have it again, but it's not as weird as you might think. The other flavors were outstanding, with the quality of the ingredients shining through. I could see why there was a line. Gelato shops in Eastern Hokkaido really know their stuff.
Personally, I enjoy simple flavors like Salt and Milk, so the Salt Magic was my favorite. The crunchy coffee beans added a nice touch. The visit to Abashiri Prison was also interesting and enjoyable. Thanks for the treat!

I finally had the chance to stop by this popular gelato shop along Route 39 in Abashiri City. The parking lot has plenty of spaces, but it fills up quickly due to the shop's popularity. I tried a double scoop, starting with the "Ibara" gelato, which was surprisingly delicious. I was unsure about the "Okhotsk Salt" flavor, but it turned out to be tasty as well. There are other flavors that look delicious, so I definitely want to come back and try more.

This is a report on a restaurant in Hokkaido (lol). I couldn't help but stop by this popular gelato specialty store "Rimo" in Horoman, Abashiri! The gelato shop, run by Executive Chef Satoshi Takada, who became the first Asian to win the world championship at the world's largest gelato contest, is very popular among a wide range of age groups! No matter which flavor you try, it will make you smile. It can get crowded depending on the time, but most customers take their orders to go and enjoy them on the terrace outside or in their cars, so the turnover is good! This time, I ordered the Triple Gelato (cup) with "Pistachio, Okhotsk salt, Mango sorbet", "Milk, Gianduja, Nocciola". I took the classic photo in front of the sign and the shop! (lol) All the flavors have a smooth texture and melt in your mouth, with a perfect balance of sweetness. They are extremely delicious! My favorite this time was the "Mango sorbet", which had the true taste of mango and was a big hit! It was absolutely delicious with an amazing taste! I finished it in no time! I would definitely recommend visiting the gelateria "Rimo" again if you have the chance! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal.

During my sightseeing trip in Abashiri, I happened to visit a shop where soft serve was being sold for only 100 yen on that day only. It seemed that they were discontinuing the sale at this shop, so I treated myself to both gelato and soft serve! It may be indulgent to have both a triple scoop and soft serve, but it was so hot that day! ( •̤ᴗ•̤ )♡

I've always wanted to visit Rimo, and this was my first visit. I couldn't decide which flavor to choose, so I went with the Triple (550 yen) where you can pick 3 flavors. My husband and I each chose 3 flavors, a total of 6. I picked caramel, chocolate, and salt. My husband chose milk, almond chocolate, and pistachio. We tried all 6 flavors, and they were all delicious! The gelato was incredibly smooth and had a texture that defied the typical gelato expectations. The salt flavor had a slight saltiness with sweetness, and it was really delicious! Both the chocolate and caramel had a light color but a rich and strong flavor, which was very tasty. My husband particularly liked the pistachio flavor. Eating the 3 flavors one by one kept it interesting and we didn't get tired of it until the end, so I personally recommend the Triple. I would love to go back when it gets hot again!

The owner and chef of this place is the first Asian to win the Gelato World Cup held in Italy, not once but twice. Known for using milk from Abashiri and carefully selected ingredients from around the world, their gelato is a must-try. You can choose up to three flavors at once, and this time I chose: Pistachio, Grape Sorbet, Gianduia. All of them were rich and delicious, but the aroma of the pistachio was particularly impressive, ranking among the top three pistachio gelatos I've ever had. If this place were in a more urban area, it would easily become a popular spot with long lines every day. I was truly impressed by the gelato and would love to try it again if given the chance. Thank you for the wonderful treat.

In Abashiri, Hokkaido, I came across the best gelato I've ever had. While soft serve ice cream and gelato are always delicious, Rimo's gelato is a must-try when visiting Abashiri. Chef Satoshi Takada won the world's largest gelato contest, SHERBETH FESTIVAL, in 2017, becoming the first Asian to do so. The gelato made with milk from Abashiri, Hokkaido, and the champion chef's creations are truly irresistible. Flavors like drift ice (tastes like Ramune soda), blueberry cheese, canelé, pistachio, and ibara (crab shell included!) caught my eye. I wanted to try at least six flavors, so I opted for the triple scoop. The price was reasonable at 550 yen. The gelato was a revelation in my mouth, with a smooth texture and distinct flavors. The most popular pistachio flavor did not disappoint. If you want to try it out, you can order online or through a local tax payment program. For tourists taking the bus, I recommend getting off at the Uehayashi residence stop and walking to the shop. The friendly staff even let me wait inside until my next bus arrived. Even solo travelers should not hesitate to stop by!

Visited "Gelateria Rimo Abashiri Main Store" in Abashiri City. This gelato shop is very popular in Abashiri. It is no wonder, as the shop is run by a pastry chef who has won the Gelato World Cup in Italy. The red signboard catches the eye. The exterior is a lodge-style building. Inside, there is a gelato counter. You order first, then choose the flavors of gelato. I ordered a double scoop (450 yen tax included). I paid with PayPay. I asked for a cup, and although all the flavors looked delicious, I ordered the following types. In order:
- Milk: A rich milk gelato with strong sweetness and a good milk flavor. A standard and classic gelato. It is very smooth and delicious.
- Ibara Bistachio: A gelato based on pistachio, with roasted Ibara crab shells soaked in it. A new sensation gelato in the mouth. When I tried it, it left an impression of rich pistachio gelato, with an adult taste. It was also delicious. I couldn't really taste the crab, but as a gelato, it was very tasty.
As mentioned above, it was a delicious gelato shop. Hokkaido residents consume a lot of ice cream, but using fresh dairy products can create delicious products. It was very delicious. I will come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Triple (Nachiizu, Drift Ice, Ibara) for 550 yen. Here you can enjoy gelato with unique flavors. Ibara is made with Ibara crab and pistachio, giving it a subtle crab flavor. Surprisingly delicious. Drift Ice is a winter exclusive with a refreshing taste, complementing perfectly with the rich Nachiizu. Winter gelato is also a treat.

"The Squirrel's Forest" is an old place! I have field work for my job, so I usually don't eat breakfast or lunch to enjoy a beer at night. But I always end up gaining weight in the winter, so this year I'm trying not to gain weight. I used to use the food log app on both Saturdays and Sundays, but this year I only do it once a day. The rest of the time, I do housework or play sports to skip breakfast and lunch, and somehow maintain my summer weight. I haven't had such stable weight since I got into the food log app. However, it's fine when I'm not doing field work, but when I do, I always end up stopping by the convenience store. I usually buy ice cream monaka or corn monaka at the convenience store. Today I had field work again, and there was no convenience store on the way. The first place that came to mind was "The Squirrel's Forest." I also thought of the Michi-no-Eki in Onneyu, but it's Friday, so The Squirrel's Forest is definitely open. It's a popular gelato shop, and a single scoop costs 400 yen. It's a bit pricey, but it's smooth gelato. The pistachio flavor isn't very strong at first, but you start to taste it little by little. There are stronger pistachio flavors out there that really stick to your throat, but this one is still delicious. I couldn't help but say, "This is really good." It's definitely tasty."

The gelato shop that won the Gelato World Championship is located in Abashiri, which is not a place you can easily visit. But of course, I decided to go. The location is quite impressive, but when a shop is delicious, that doesn't really matter. I ordered the triple scoop where you can choose 3 flavors. I couldn't just choose one flavor after coming all the way here. I chose strawberry, coffee, and Earl Grey. Safe choices. I didn't order any of the unique flavors that were rumored. I stuck to flavors I like. In my mind, gelato has always been more "rough" than smooth, but the gelato here was smooth, flavorful, and delicious! And yet, it had a refreshing aftertaste. Even after trying 3 flavors, I still wanted to try more. By the way, my companion ordered one of the unique flavors, and I took a bite... it really tasted like king crab! I think I'm fine with just one bite... I can't wait to go back and try different flavors next time! I really want to go back soon, but it's difficult to visit this place. Thank you for the meal!

Rimo, a remarkable gelato shop with a history of being ranked number one in the world twice, is located about 30 minutes from Memanbetsu Airport towards Abashiri. Despite it not being ice cream season in November, customers still trickle in, showing its popularity. The triple scoop (550 yen) includes Pistachio, the most popular flavor, which was delicious. Milk was also excellent. However, Ibara had a strong crab-like smell, making it a tricky taste that might be more suited for those with a strong sense of adventure. As of today, the overall rating is 3.59.

This is a really charming gelato shop. Located in the outskirts of Abashiri facing a forest, the shop is home to adorable Ezo squirrels running around. The shop itself has a cute mountain hut-like vibe, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere. Inside the shop, you can find a variety of colorful and vibrant gelato and soft serve ice cream flavors. I ordered a cup with two flavors - "Biei Milk" and "Caramel". Both are rich in Hokkaido milk, with "Biei Milk" standing out for its creamy milk flavor. The "Caramel" also impresses with its perfect balance of nutty caramel and sweet milk. The quality is really top-notch. I enjoyed these exquisite gelatos in such a magical setting.

The new flavors that started in autumn, Castagna and Canele, along with the classic Pistachio make a delicious triple combination. Castagna has a gentle chestnut aroma, similar to a Mont Blanc cake, thanks to the chestnut paste. As for Canele, it was surprisingly delicious and truly impressive. The subtle aroma of liquor blends perfectly, spreading in the mouth along with the richness of butter, creating a wonderful flavor.

This is a famous gelato shop. I decided to stop by since I was so close by. It was hard to choose because all the flavors looked delicious. Hmm! Smooth and delicious! I would love to have it again, but it's so far away... Thank you for the meal!
