During my trip to Hokkaido, I stopped by Otaru. While strolling around the town, my wife bought a vibrant strawberry dessert. The strawberries were juicy and coated in sweet syrup. Although I couldn't taste the sweetness of the strawberries themselves, it was refreshing and enjoyable. Thank you for the treat! :)

I stopped by a shop because the strawberries and daifuku skewered together looked cute. They also had chocolate flavor, so I chose that! The combination of strawberry and chocolate is always a winner. Since it's on a skewer, it's perfect for eating on the go. It was tasty, although not enough to make me want to go back again!

This is the second stop on my stroll around Otaru!! I've only been eating sweets···. Otaru is being affected by the coronavirus, being a tourist spot and all ( ´･ω･`). But on weekends, more people are starting to come back!! As I was walking my usual food route, I came across a strawberry wagon, Pota Pota!! I was drawn to it because I love strawberries (　`ᾥ´　). They had strawberry skewers for eating on the go. They also had strawberry daifuku, perfect for souvenirs or for yourself!! I ordered the Strawberry Daifuku Skewer for 400 yen!! The mini daifuku was so cute (lol) and it had red bean paste inside. The strawberry was sweet and easy to eat, so I recommend it!! I'll definitely stop by again when I'm out for another food stroll. In early March 2020, I visited a specialty shop for strawberry daifuku called "Potapota Ichigo Otaru Sakaimachi Street Store" in Otaru, Hokkaido, which opened on March 3rd. The area was quiet due to the impact of the new coronavirus, posing a serious challenge for tourist-dependent businesses. I hope for a swift end to this situation, but the thought of a new virus emerging in the future is unsettling. Setting that aside, the shop is the third location of a chain with two other stores in Sapporo. I purchased two packs of a set of three strawberry daifuku with yomogi-tsubuan, shiro-an, and koshi-an fillings for 780 yen each. As a fan of koshi-an, I tried the white daifuku, which had a thick mochi with a moderately sweet filling and a strawberry with a mild acidity. However, the strawberry's flavor was overshadowed by the sweetness of the daifuku. It may be due to the season or sourcing, but a richer-tasting strawberry would have made a big difference. I look forward to revisiting based on the timing and availability of strawberries.

The strawberries are sweet. The strawberry daifuku has just the right amount of sweetness and is soft, so delicious. It would be nice if the strawberries were bigger!
