コショラー
On the fifth day of my business trip to Sapporo, I visited Tenbo-san for lunch with a local business partner couple. It is located at Minami 2-jo Higashi 2-chome, on the outskirts of the Nijo Market area. Tenbo-san is a hidden gem of a local Chinese restaurant loved by the locals. We arrived a bit late around 12:10 due to the piled-up snow. The interior of the restaurant was sparkling clean. It is a small restaurant with only 7 counter seats, 1 table for 2, and 1 table for 4. We were worried about getting a seat during lunchtime, but miraculously, a 4-person table was available. On the table, there were soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, pepper, shichimi (seven-flavor chili pepper), garlic, chopsticks, toothpicks, and a pitcher of water. After being seated, glasses were brought to us. Tenbo-san is a place where you always have a hard time deciding what to order because everything is delicious. This time, we ordered: - Gomoku Chahan (fried rice with five ingredients) for 780 yen - Liver and leek stir-fry (a la carte) for 680 yen - Pan-fried dumplings for 450 yen - Stir-fried bamboo shoots for 400 yen, totaling 2,310 yen. The set meal menu allows for a 100 yen discount for ordering individual items. The pan-fried dumplings and stir-fried bamboo shoots were meant to be shared among the three of us. It took a bit of time due to the crowd, but the dishes started arriving one by one after about 15 minutes. First, we had the Gomoku Chahan. It had a cute visual with a quail egg on top. The color was dark, and the texture was moist. The ingredients included chashu (roast pork), shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, green peppers, carrots, and eggs, making it a luxurious type of fried rice. Pickled ginger was also served on the side. The chashu's fatty part, shiitake mushrooms, and the sweetness of the carrots were distinctive, making it a delicious fried rice. The soup that came with it was also comforting in this cold weather. Next was the liver and leek stir-fry. It had a refined seasoning, and the liver was fresh and tender without any unpleasant odor. The bean sprouts and leeks were crunchy and not overcooked. The pan-fried dumplings had a slightly thick and chewy skin. The simple stir-fried bamboo shoots were so delicious that it's a must-order. In an area with many famous local Chinese restaurants like Fuhou-san and Koushu-san, Tenbo-san stands out with its slightly refined seasoning that is recommended for women as well. Be sure to visit at least once.
