To get pumped up for exploration, let's head to "Hood Dog" and go go! It may be a bit of a digression, but I had an experience of being turned away early when I visited the shop in the evening. Normally, they announce on Instagram if they run out of soup, but on that day, there was no such announcement. I couldn't reach the shop by phone either. So, today is my revenge after waiting for over half a year. Whether I have to wait or line up, I am determined to eat it for sure! I arrived a bit after lunchtime and there were only 2 seats available. I'm a bit worried about eating too much, but the exploration is a must, let's go! The first thing I ordered was "El Top Chorizo (¥1250)" but they were out of stock, so I went for my second choice "Pastrami (¥1250)" with a spice level of 45, and added "Broccoli (usually ¥50)" as a topping using a coupon from Tabelog! I asked if I could reduce the rice portion from 120g to 100g, and they kindly agreed. The place is run by just two people, and they were also busy taking delivery and takeout orders, so it took a while to be seated and place an order. It took some time from placing the order to the soup curry being served, but I don't remember exactly how many minutes. Looking at my camera roll, it seems to have taken around 30 minutes from entering the shop to the soup curry being ready! The time from ordering to receiving the food felt longer than expected (laughs). As I tried to eat, I realized that the broccoli was missing, so I asked for it separately. The broccoli was served in a separate dish. After taking a few sips, I felt a mild taste spreading in my mouth. It gradually brought out the spiciness, richness, and umami with each sip. It's addictive how the spiciness tingles on the lips. I can't stop eating thanks to that sensation! The owner is from Pluplue, but unlike Pluplue and Destroyer, the rice here is turmeric rice. It has a subtle salty taste and a hint of sweetness, and the slightly firm texture goes well with the soup. The bitterness is not overpowering, so it's delicious even when eaten as is! It's impressive that you can increase the turmeric rice up to 350g for free. The soup curry ingredients include bell peppers, eggplants, carrots, half a boiled egg, and 4 slices of pastrami. The carrots are easily broken down with a spoon and have a sweet taste, while the eggplants have a soft texture from simmering. I noticed that the broccoli provided later was also simmered. It's rare for the broccoli in soup curry to not be deep-fried. Simmering brings out the sweetness of broccoli, making it tender with a unique crunchy texture. Even the stalks are delicious! The pastrami here is homemade! It's thickly sliced and has a tender texture reminiscent of braised pork. The smoky aroma from smoking doesn't disappear amidst the soup's scent, creating a bold flavor! It doesn't have an unpleasant smell and enhances the beef's umami while having a punchy taste born from salting. It goes well with beer! The fact that it blends well with the soup is a testament to the owner's precise calculations. Everything was incredibly delicious! When settling the bill, they apologized for forgetting the topping, but since I ordered something with a complex content during their busy time, it was my fault... (laughs) They ask each customer, "Was the spiciness okay?" when settling the bill, showing their friendly nature! The name "Hood Dog" used for the shop means "local friends," and it was chosen to reflect the shop's atmosphere. The high number of regulars and repeat customers is not only due to the delicious food but also the owner's friendly personality.

I topped my dish with broccoli using a Tabelog coupon. The meat is delicious, I want to keep chewing it forever (ˆ∞ˆ) It's fragrant, especially the fatty parts are good. I think ordering just the pastrami and having a drink would be the best. The soup is light and competes head-on with spices. They said anything spicier than level 50 is quite spicy, so I tried level 50 this time, and my mouth didn't burn but I was sweating a lot. But I guess last time I tried level 60 haha

The curry with pork cartilage and pickled mustard greens was delicious with a spice level of 30. The curry with octopus, oysters, and enoki mushrooms was also tasty with a spice level of 30. The curry with lamb, tomatoes, mushrooms, and cheese was flavorful with a spice level of 30. Note that the restaurant may close early or have temporary closures due to soup running out, so be aware.

I really like this place♪ I haven't been exploring new places recently. I should go somewhere new. But I really like it here♪ Lately, I've been going to either here, Akatsuki, or Pippi. The Ume Shiso Toronatsu with spice level 300, small rice, small side dish of vegetables, and the Gekikara Aonanbanzuke soup are always delicious♪ I really love it ❤ The rice toppings are also incredibly tasty. I went to the restaurant on a scorching day! I felt like I walked endlessly from Toyosui Susukino Station O⁠_⁠o I ordered the Plum Shiso Natto. It looked like my favorite summer treat floating in the pool, so lovely ♥ I was looking forward to it because I like natto. The result was so delicious! I'm glad I came. I topped it with Indian pickled long yam and rapeseed blossoms! It could be a side dish, palate cleanser, or chopstick rest, but it was also delicious! The long yam was especially tasty! And the toppings are cheap, so you can try various things, which is nice, right? I wore a Gian T-shirt with a back print that I bought at Sanky on this day, and I was teased at the checkout (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠) I will go again! It was delicious ✨

Visited the 9th curry restaurant on my Hokkaido tour. Despite seeing on Tabelog that the last order was at 12:30 AM, the restaurant was closed when I arrived at 11:55 PM two days prior. After checking the restaurant's Instagram, I found out that their dinner time was actually from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. I requested a correction on Tabelog, but I wish there was a system in place to ensure timely updates of accurate information on the platform. I revisited the restaurant on a weekday at 2:00 PM. There were 7 other customers already there. I sat at a 4-person table and ordered the Ume Shiso Toronatto for 1,100 yen, with a spice level of 50 and 50g of rice. After about 20 minutes, the soup curry and turmeric rice arrived. The soup was topped with plum meat, shiso, tororo kelp, and grated yam. Inside the soup were ground natto, nameko mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, okra, garlic sprouts, carrots, and tender potatoes. The soup had a mild spice level and the combination of the natto's richness, plum meat's acidity, and shiso's flavor was excellent. After tasting, I thoroughly mixed everything together. While natto is not a common choice for soup curry, the Ume Shiso Toronatto was exceptional. I alternated between the rice and the soup, enjoying every bite. I plan to order the Ume Shiso Toronatto again next time, with a spice level of 200 and, if possible, double the plum meat. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I realized that I have been coming to this place many times, probably more than thirty times, since I first encountered its deliciousness two and a half years ago. However, I just noticed that I haven't written about it on my blog... I shouldn't slack off. Anyway, HoodDog. Well, it's delicious. Undoubtedly one of the best flavors on my "Top 10 Soup Curry Restaurants" list. After carefully considering the menu... but in the end, I chose the natto. The natto at HoodDog, like Cancun, Destroyer Nishi-sen, and Destroyer Kita, is just devilishly delicious. [Soup] The flavor consists of salt, soup, and spices only. And the soup is a concentrated blend of chicken and Japanese-style dashi, with a clear taste. It goes really well with the natto. The owner of the restaurant is from Murakami Curry, but this flavor may surpass that. It's a modest yet deep and profound flavor. Holding back on adding umami, cutting back on unnecessary flavors to the limit. That's the subtractive soup. [Rice] Rice cooked firm with cumin mixed in. Even if you just have the rice with a sprinkle of salt, it's delicious! Really delicious. It could be considered a complete dish on its own. (Try it for yourself, just the rice alone with a sprinkle of salt... it's amazing! Seriously, it's so good!) The unique and intense umami of this rice combines with the elegant soup to create an exquisite balance. The subdued soup successfully brings together the mischievous rice. That's the feeling. [Vegetables] Potatoes: The deliciousness of boiled potatoes shines through. Carrots: Sweet and tender without losing flavor. Okra: It's sweet as well. ◆ I quickly finish the 350g of rice. I spend a blissful time wanting to keep eating forever. The dangerously addictive flavor that caused many people to become addicted was the Murakami Curry pul-pul, and it's the same here. Even if I look at the menu and think, "Maybe I'll have the Chicken Vegetable today?" I always end up realizing that I've ordered the Natto. I've been completely addicted. Thanks to that, I can't eat anything other than Natto on the menu anymore, how could you do this to me! I'll be back again! I wonder if it's open? The inside is filled with stacked cardboard boxes and lots of reggae world art!! Wow!!! There are about 3-4 counter seats, 5 tables for 4 people each? They have a variety of popular menu items like soup curry, roux curry, hot dogs, and chicken. My recommendation is the plum and shiso toro natto. I chose the spiciness level at 150 and it was deliciously spicy! The plum flavor comes through occasionally and is great! The tororo konbu goes well with the natto, enhancing the smoothness and making it easy to eat! The daikon that came with it was also delicious! Yay!!! I couldn't get in before when I went at 5:30, but I finally made it! I have a new favorite restaurant now. The pastrami seems to be popular too. I want to try a variety of dishes! This time with my daughter. Same menu as always: Ume Shiso Toro Natto, 300 Ban, Nanohana Subji. It's always the same. No cheating. Still delicious as usual ♡ In the second picture, there's a bunny! So cute! We have a pet bunny at home too ♡ As always, when it's time to pay, the master asks, "How was the spiciness today, with the 300 Ban?" If I say it was delicious, the other customers around start buzzing. It was delicious again today!

Visited a soup curry lunch with my wife in Sapporo in May. Went to a shop called Hot Spice Shop Hood Dog in Sapporo City area, rated 3.61 out of 5 by 56 people. The shop is located along Route 36. The interior is a bit chaotic, and the owner is quite unique (laughs). For those who don't mind the chaotic atmosphere, it's not bad. I haven't become addicted to it yet (laughs). My wife ordered the Ume Shiso Toronatto for 1,100 yen with a spice level of 30, small rice for an extra 50 yen, and added broccoli for an extra 50 yen. I ordered the Ume Shiso Toronatto for 1,100 yen with a spice level of 80 (equivalent to very spicy), regular rice 250g, and broccoli (complimentary topping from Tabelog). I love curry dishes with natto, but this one is also delicious. It's spicy but the spiciness is pleasant, and the balance between spices and sweetness is good. The difference between 80 and 30 spice levels is that 80 has a reddish-brown color and 30 allows you to taste the natto and ume flavors more clearly. The dish includes ume, natto, okra, shiso, nameko mushrooms, grated yam, tororo (grated yam), and tororo kombu (grated kelp), with some mixed and some separate ingredients, which adds to the enjoyment. The standout is the excellent turmeric rice. It has a rich color and flavor, unlike the common "yellow rice," it's really delicious. The owner is unique, and the curry is also unique and tasty. Another must-visit restaurant for me, I'm happy♪ Thank you for the meal.

Chunky keema marinated in tangy yogurt with a hint of sheep's smell, enhanced by the acidity and richness, topped with rosemary. Not quite a double soup, but the clash of fish broth and lamb is addicting. All tied together with robust spices. Truly a manly keema! Super delicious! Highly recommended! The asparagus subji is also excellent.

Even more delicious than I imagined. The cumin rice is still delicious! The rice was a bit firm this day, which was great ♡ The satisfaction from this soup curry is beyond words!! Once you get used to the soup curry here, you'll feel unsatisfied eating it elsewhere, so be careful!!! The soothing sound of the usual rattling voice in the store. On a holiday, around 11:30 am (arrived eagerly before opening), it took about 12 minutes from ordering to serving! Customers started coming in one after another as soon as they opened!

Our usual work colleague suddenly had free time and decided to come over at the last minute! They only come here to eat! We both ordered the Ume Shiso Toronatto with spiciness level 300, Nanohana subji, and the only difference was the amount of rice. Whenever I go to Sapporo, I always want to visit this restaurant. The basic soup curry is delicious, but I always go for the recommended curry made with seasonal ingredients. This time, I tried the papaya shellfish curry for the first time. It was tasty without a strong flavor. The soup curry is quite filling, so I always order a small portion of rice. The spiciness level was 50. (I always forget, so this is a note for myself, haha)

Visited the restaurant again with my work colleagues. Ordered the Ume Shiso Toronatto with a topping of spicy 300-level Nanohana subji. It was incredibly delicious. The best. This was my first visit. It's around East 2 along Sapporo River. If you use the subway, you can get off at Tozai Line's Toyohira Susukino Station and walk east. The Mapo Tofu-style Curry with spiciness level 30 was delicious (^ ^). I want to go back again!

I visited after a long time. The restaurant was bustling with people and items, probably because it was right at the beginning of the new year. I ordered the lamb vegetable curry, number 30, with toppings of eggplant, lotus root, and beans. I asked for less rice. It was served in about 10 minutes. Huh? It tasted even better than the last time I had it. It was exactly to my liking. The rice was flavored with turmeric and cumin, and was delicious on its own, but paired with the curry, it had a different flavor. I was impressed. The lamb had a strong flavor, showcasing its best qualities without overpowering the soup. It was amazing. I promised myself that I would definitely go back to eat there again. The spicy dish for 950 yen with a spiciness level of 60 (50 yen extra) has a very nice atmosphere. There are many interesting stickers and flyers that make me want to search through each one. The rice with a hint of flavor is delicious, it's my first time trying this kind of rice. The light and classic soup pairs perfectly with it. The interaction between the owner and regular customers seemed very friendly. I would like to try going there at night as well. The hot dogs also look delicious.

I'm glad I came here this year! The order remains the same. I always get the Ume Shiso Toronatto, Nanohana Subji, and No. 300. The owner, with a nice voice, always asks, "Are you okay with No. 300?" But this dish is irresistibly delicious. I'm sweating! The blackboard menu changes depending on the day, but there are various rice toppings to choose from, which I like. The first meal of the year will definitely be here!

Firm texture is the best. It was my first time going on a Friday around 7 pm, and the customers were really cool!! It felt like a surprise gift ← We were almost the last customers to order, so they said, "Sorry, but we're done for the day" twice. Close call!! They were really pushing it!! The lone staff was working hard. I ordered the clam, cabbage, and spinach curry for 1000 yen as part of Hooddog's third anniversary event in Sapporo's Chuo Ward. It was spicy level 99 and came with 50 servings of rice. It was delicious and well worth the price. I initially considered getting the venison vindaloo, but stuck to my original choice. I'm glad I went with the clam and cabbage curry after seeing it on Instagram. The gentle yet rich clam broth combined well with the spinach and chewy cabbage.
