I visited the new restaurant after it moved from the old location, and as always, they had a lineup of food with a focus on quality. This time, I went with my boss who really wanted to eat sea urchin, so we had a great time. 1-1 Sea Urchin Small Dish: For those who want to enjoy sea urchin in a simple way, this is the perfect choice. There is no strong smell like the sea urchin in Kanto region. Just a little bit of soy sauce enhances the flavor, making it a luxurious dish to enjoy with alcohol. 1-2 Sea Urchin Gunkan: If you want to fully enjoy sea urchin, this is the dish for you. The combination with seaweed is excellent, and it will make your mouth happy. The sea urchin stays intact and looks beautiful. 1-3 Grilled Sea Urchin: I couldn't forget this dish and had to come back for it. The grilling brings out a different flavor, making it rich and perfect to pair with Japanese sake. 2 Sashimi Platter: The flatfish, yellowtail, salmon roe, squid, scallop sashimi, and especially the tuna were all delicious. The botan shrimp was not only tasty, but the shrimp miso in the head was fresh and a must-try. 3 Snow Crab Egg Yolk Omelette: A unique combination that will make you go "ah, I see!" when you taste it. Enjoy it with sake! 4 Grilled Scallop: The scallop broth is amazing. It's warm and comforting, with a gentle sweetness and umami flavor. 5 Sushi: Fresh fish sushi, need I say more? Needless to say, it was top-notch. 6 Drinks: The Otaru beer, both the crisp type and the rich type, were delicious. We also had the rare Daiginjo and Rei Ginjo sake, both easy to drink and a great match with the food. I wanted to drink more, but I had been drinking all day and had to stop. Next time, I want to try the cloudy sake. 7 Bonus: Maybe we could have enjoyed it more affordably if we had been more restrained, but since it was quite far away, we decided to indulge in the highest-grade items. As a result, we received a little bit of complimentary service. These items were undoubtedly delicious, but above all, we were happy with the hospitality. Thank you!

Otaru is known for its music box sound, and the historical building Kyusya Kaikan, which has a history of 120 years, captures the nostalgic atmosphere of the Taisho era. However, there were some downsides. While in Otaru, I wanted to try sushi, but this time I decided to order soba set. The soba noodles were advertised as authentic hand-made noodles, but they were a bit too firm and lacked the flavor of soba. The tempura was tasty but not as crispy as I would have liked. The tempura included two large shrimp, white fish, and salmon. The inari sushi, two large pieces, had a nice sesame flavor and texture. The tea was delicious! The lunch set with soba and seafood rice bowl was priced in the 800 yen range, which seemed like a good deal. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, but the prices felt a bit high. Welcome.---------- January 2017 ----------A Japanese restaurant that has relocated to Otaru-dori, near Sakai-suji, in front of the Otaru Sake Brewery. The restaurant has a warm and open atmosphere, reminiscent of a mountain hut, with a heavy wooden sliding door and friendly staff. The interior features an L-shaped counter, tables, and raised seating areas, suitable for various occasions. They offer lunch sets and a la carte options, as well as the option to enjoy drinks during the day. The soba noodles are hand-made, and the background music is the sound of a music box, fitting for the Otaru and Sakai-suji area. The lunch set includes sashimi, grilled or fried fish, and tempura served on a tray with a variety of options. The fried fish includes small but tasty hokke fish, while the tempura features shrimp, salmon, and squid. The sashimi is melt-in-your-mouth salmon, firm and creamy hamachi, and flavorful but small pieces of flounder. The miso soup is rich and comforting, and the meal ends with pickled turnip with red vinegar. The hospitality towards tourists is evident in the variety of dishes offered. During the Showa era, when Otaru was still lively, I used to always go to Nairoku under the Hanazono Guard with my beloved grandmother. It wasn't a high-end restaurant, but the sushi was thick and delicious. However, it seems that only the name has been passed down to the current establishment. The sushi and soup lack focus, the seasoning and temperature are not quite right. The ingredients don't seem too bad, though. It made me remember the delicious cheap sushi I had in the past, which was the only enjoyable part of the experience.

By chance, we started talking about Otaru, and it reminded me of Mr. Eiroku. The soft simmered octopus we had that time was delicious! I said I would definitely come again, but I haven't yet... I will definitely go!
