Hokkaido report (lol) I visited the popular ramen shop "Raamen Tonpei" in Obihiro, following the gourmet videos of YouTube's "Bob Ore no Tokachi Meshi" channel! I arrived around 12:30 on Saturday and there was no line outside, and we were able to sit down right away without waiting inside the restaurant! As soon as we entered, there was a ticket machine where we made our order. The interior of the restaurant seemed to mainly consist of counter seats separated by partitions. This was my first visit, so I decided to try the following: "Salt Ramen (Regular size) ¥890" and "Flavored Egg ¥120." The restaurant had jazz music playing in the background, with many album jackets displayed on the walls, likely reflecting the owner's taste. It had a comfortable volume and a relaxing atmosphere! It seems that this restaurant has also been featured in the Hokkaido Michelin Guide! And in just 10 minutes, our order arrived! The golden Salt Ramen looked incredibly delicious with large slices of chashu! The presentation was also beautiful! The soup, made with Shiretoko deep-sea water salt, konbu seaweed, and scallop extract, had a delicious seafood flavor! I couldn't stop savoring each spoonful of the tasty soup! The thin noodles had a nice wheat aroma and were incredibly delicious to slurp up! The flavorful and tender chashu slices were a highlight of the dish! They paired perfectly with the pepper on the table! The rice was also tempting to order! The seasoned bamboo shoots and menma were also tasty! And the must-try flavored egg was absolutely delicious! I quickly finished the meal and heard the staff recommending the "Moyashi Miso" to many customers! The diverse menu keeps regulars coming back for more! They also offered takeout and bag noodles for sale! It was a truly delicious experience! Thank you for the meal.

Today, I felt like having ramen and decided to go to my usual place, Tonpei. Although it was before opening time, there were already three people waiting in line. I usually order soy sauce ramen, but this time I went for the salt ramen with extra toppings. I realized that I had never tried the salt ramen here before. The ramen was served in about 7 minutes, and the scent of scallops was quite strong. The salt flavor in the soup was not too overpowering, more like a scallop salt flavor. The noodles and chashu were as delicious as always. The extra toppings were satisfying in terms of portion size.

I thought the restaurant would be crowded, so I aimed for the 11:00 am opening on Sunday and arrived 15 minutes early. Hmm, no parking lot? But is this the place? I parked where everyone else was parked. At 10:57 am, the first person entered the store. I was directed to a solo seat. There was a wooden board on the table to separate the seats next to each other, so I could eat comfortably. I ordered the Salt Ramen (regular, 890 yen) and added a boiled egg topping (120 yen). The appearance was appetizing with golden soup and yellow noodles neatly arranged. The boiled egg topping was delicious. The soup had a rich flavor of scallop essence and kelp, making it satisfying on its own. I felt like there was bonito flakes in the background. The noodles themselves were delicious, soaking up the soup well. The noodles were so tasty that I chewed them bite by bite instead of slurping. The chashu was tender and flavorful with soy sauce. The boiled egg was tasty, slightly sweet from the sauce it was marinated in. Overall, it was a delicious ramen with excellent balance. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at Ramen Tonpei-san. I arrived right after they opened, but had to wait for 20 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to be seated. So, a total of 30 minutes. But I don't mind waiting because I don't come here often. As usual, I had the Shoyu Ramen. It came with three slices of chashu, which I really enjoy. Even though it's from Obihiro, I love the nostalgic taste.

I visited this place for the first time and there was a line of about 10 people outside during lunchtime, but the turnover was good so I got inside quickly. I ordered the salted bamboo shoot ramen for ¥990 plus a small rice for ¥150. The aroma of the seafood broth is nice, and the noodles are firm and thin. Delicious! Thank you for the meal!

This is soy sauce ramen. It's always delicious no matter when you eat it! I love that the soup is piping hot. Everything I've tried is the best. Miso, salt, meat and leek, all highly recommended! Another ramen that makes me want to eat it again is Tonpei ramen!

Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by the sound of jazz music playing in the background, with jazz album covers and photos displayed on the walls. I ordered the Oshirashi Moyashi Shio Ramen (salt ramen with bean sprouts) in regular size for 990 yen, along with a limited edition seasoned egg for an additional 120 yen. I opted for added spice, pepper, and grated garlic. The noodles were medium-thin and the soup was rich in flavor. The toppings included 3 slices of chashu pork, komatsuna greens, menma bamboo shoots, and green onions. The service was friendly and the overall quality of the meal was excellent, though slightly on the pricier side. Overall, I would give this place an A- rating.

Popular restaurant in Obihiro. Despite living in Obihiro for 40 years, I visited for the first time and found about 5 people waiting in line around 11:30. The seating is now all partitioned. I ordered the salt ramen. The soup, as rumored, was delicious and clear. The noodles were not to my liking, but they complemented the soup well. I also tried my son's soy sauce soup, which had a taste resembling seafood broth. I prefer the salt soup.

Visit date 23rd March 2023, I was in Obihiro for work. A quick visit. Since I came all the way here, I thought I should eat something before heading back. Pork bowl is too ordinary. Oh, I don't really remember having ramen in Obihiro before. When I searched, the highest-rated place was Tonpei, and it was close to closing time, but I made it just in time. I bought a ticket from the machine and chose the salt ramen, which seemed to be recommended. Later, I saw reviews saying that everything is delicious, but the salt ramen seems to be quite popular. It was the right choice. The cloudy salt ramen had a very gentle soup, delicious noodles, and the chashu was also delicious, as expected from Obihiro. I understand why it has high ratings. Even though it was close to closing time, customers kept coming in one after another. It may not be an extraordinary taste, but it was simply delicious, gentle, and with depth. Thank you for the meal.

Long time no visit. Jazz music playing in the restaurant. Last time I tried the highly recommended salt ramen, but this time I ordered the miso ramen. It was priced at ¥930, which is ¥40 more expensive. First, my impression. Delicious! The miso ramen soup was not just a simple miso flavor, but had a seafood aroma that brought out the umami, so delicious that I finished the soup. It felt like a well-researched flavor. Personally, I would recommend the miso ramen over the salt ramen. The noodles were thin and cooked al dente. The chashu came in 3 thick slices, flavorful and the fatty part melted in my mouth. I thought it was nothing special last time, but my impression of the taste has completely changed this time. Truly a renowned restaurant from Tokachi Obihiro.

When it comes to things to enjoy in Hokkaido, it's definitely ramen. Sapporo, Asahikawa, Hakodate, Kushiro, Muroran...each region has its own unique characteristics, and it's fun to visit and discover new things each time. Especially in the cold winter, the deliciousness of a hot bowl is unmatched...although I have to be careful with the rich lard as I get older, a bowl in Hokkaido is a different story (laughs). This restaurant is a thriving spot in Obihiro. When it comes to Obihiro's "junky" style, pork bowl is popular, but don't forget about the ramen. This place is also popular for its salt ramen, but I am definitely a soy sauce fan. The lard here is on the strong side. However, the rich soup with dried horse mackerel and soy sauce, along with the balance of the noodles, is excellent, and you can eat it smoothly until the end without getting tired. And my favorite thing about this place is the supporting role of the bamboo shoots. That's why I always order the soy sauce ramen with bamboo shoots. In famous Tokyo shops, soft tip bamboo shoots are mainstream, and in rich ramen shops, you can see a type called "zaimoku" where they are cut into chunks for a crunchy texture. These bamboo shoots are not as sophisticated, but a rugged, thinly sliced type, seasoned with oyster sauce, reminiscent of the old-fashioned type. It's similar to the bamboo shoots from Harukiya or Marufuku that I used to enjoy as a child. It has a solid texture, but you can finish it in no time. It's like a more hearty version of Daikokuken in Nagafukucho. It's always a popular spot with long lines. Make sure to bundle up and go eat here during the cold winter months. A warm experience awaits you.

Last night, I had spicy miso ramen at a different restaurant, and once I eat ramen, I always crave it again later (゚∀゚) When I felt like having ramen in Obihiro, Tonpei was the only choice! So, I ordered my favorite miso ramen. It was a perfect bowl of ramen (^^) As always, I was completely satisfied! Thank you for the delicious meal☆

Hokkaido has many different types of ramen in each area, but I had no idea what to expect in Obihiro. I visited this restaurant, which seems to be quite famous as they even sell instant noodles at the airport. I didn't quite understand the description of the flavor that seemed like bamboo shoots, but it's the kind of ramen I would visit frequently if it were nearby.

Checked out from Dormy Inn and arrived at Ramen Tonpei. Arrived 40 minutes before opening and was the first in line. Menu: Salt Ramen with seasoned egg topping (served separately). Soup: Rich and flavorful broth made with seafood and scallop, without any artificial seasoning. Noodles: Thin, slightly wavy noodles from Asahikawa Noodle Company that complement the soup well. Char siu: Well-seasoned and delicious. Finally got to enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen at Tonpei as I had been wanting to, and left the shop completely satisfied.

I had "Soy Sauce Ramen for 890 yen & Ajitama (flavored egg) for 150 yen" for lunch while on a business trip. Spending a holiday alone at my assignment location. Today, I visited the most popular ramen shop in town for the first time. I arrived after 12 o'clock, but luckily there were empty seats! I was able to eat without waiting. I used the ticket machine, which I'm not good at, and ordered the Soy Sauce Ramen. I decided to treat myself and added flavored egg. It felt luxurious (laughs). Inside the shop, jazz music was playing from BOSE speakers. I listened while waiting. Surprisingly, my ramen was served in just 5 minutes. First, I tried the soup. Slurp. Oh, the seafood flavor is great! As stated on the menu, the dried sardines and bonito flakes are prominent. But it's not heavy at all. It's a delicious soy sauce soup with a soft touch! The noodles are like those from Asahikawa, with low water content. They go well with the seafood soup, and are delicious. The rolled pork slices are well seasoned. The thinly sliced menma (bamboo shoots) are salt-free. The flavored egg enhances the natural taste of the egg. It goes perfectly with the soy sauce soup. I quickly finished my meal. Of course, I licked the bowl clean. I left feeling very satisfied. The taste was definitely worthy of being the number one in popularity. Now I can't help but be curious about the other menu items. I wonder what the Shoyu Ramen tastes like? Another visit is definitely in order (^^)/

Miso ramen for 890 yen with 3 pieces of chashu, green vegetables, and long shinchiku. The soup had a slightly oily surface and was surprisingly hot. The noodles were smooth and straight with a slight wavy texture, similar to Asahikawa style. The noodles may be a matter of personal preference. I purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine as soon as I entered the restaurant. There is limited waiting space inside, so you may have to wait outside. It can be tough on windy or cold days, so I recommend going right after opening or close to closing time. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Ramen Tonpei-san! I wanted to eat delicious ramen after a long time... and this place is the best, right? Tonpei-san it is! I arrived around 11:50. I waited for about 10 minutes after entering the shop. I ordered the "Bean Sprout Soy Sauce Ramen" for 990 yen. Just under 1000 yen - haha, I may have to get used to price increases. While waiting, everyone is quiet, mostly staring at their phones. It was ready in about 15 minutes. The 3 slices of chashu stand out. Let's dig in! The appearance of the noodles may seem slightly firm, but when you actually try them, they are not that hard - just the right firmness. The stir-fried bean sprouts are piping hot - be careful not to burn yourself. And now, the taste. From the first bite, the deliciousness is evident. This flavor is not easy to replicate - it's just so tasty. The ingredients I love, like the pickled mustard greens, really shine. The chashu, menma, bean sprouts - the chashu is as delicious as ever, tender and perfectly seasoned. The soup has a gentle aroma of dried fish. It's just delicious, this soup is just delicious. I'm curious about the other flavors, but I'll probably end up ordering the "Soy Sauce" again - haha. Thank you for the meal!

2022/9/3 First Visit "99th Ramen Shop in 2022" Saturday~! Today, at my wife's request, we headed towards Tokachi area for lunch♪ We didn't have any business in Obihiro, but we came here just to have lunch. Let's go on an expedition for ramen! We arrived at Raamen Tonpei before 11 am, but we got there earlier than expected (;^_^A Well, it was about 40 minutes early, so we parked in a limited parking space and waited. About 10 minutes later, another customer had already arrived. And then another car came. This place is popular, indeed. About 20 minutes before opening, other customers started lining up. I got a pole♪ The shop opened about 10 minutes before the opening time, so we entered the shop~ At the ticket machine... I bought soy sauce ramen, and my wife bought salt ramen. We also bought a bowl of mayonnaise char siu rice. We were guided to a table seat side by side and handed over our meal tickets. There were three people working: the owner and two staff members. We watched their coordinated customer service and cooking while waiting. In less than 10 minutes, the ramen arrived. Oh, this ramen looks really good! It must be delicious! I took a sip of the soup. Oh, unexpected seafood aroma and flavor (^^♪ Maybe it's a double soup... I also feel the taste of animal broth. This soup is really delicious! The noodles are like thicker Asahikawa noodles. They have a good firmness, and the low water content matches well with this soup. The toppings include what looks like stem wakame but is actually Chinese cabbage, menma, green onions, and char siu. The char siu here was really to my liking! I was impressed by the well-balanced ramen. As for the mayonnaise char siu rice, it was quite flavorful compared to the ramen, and it went really well with the rice. If I could drink alcohol, it would be a perfect match. It was also a wonderful taste. I also tried my wife's salt ramen. While the soy sauce ramen has a strong seafood flavor, the salt ramen doesn't have much of a fishy taste or aroma. On the contrary, it's refreshing, but still has a rich taste, almost like chicken white broth. The salt ramen was delicious too♪ Well, I haven't had much experience eating ramen in Obihiro, but at this point, this is definitely the number one shop in Obihiro. It was worth the 3-hour journey. I will probably come here when I visit Obihiro in the future. It's been a while since I've encountered such a delicious restaurant on a first visit. It was delicious!! Thank you for the meal♪

The restaurant is close by and I have been there many times, but if asked if it's the most delicious in Obihiro, I would say it's okay. I tried a variety of dishes at Ichii, but they were just average. It might be good for locals, but for tourists visiting Obihiro, there are plenty of other delicious options so I wouldn't recommend it. The rice has no mayonnaise flavor, and it's more like a mix of char siu and bean paste. This might be a hit or miss depending on personal taste, but those who like mayonnaise might end up disappointed.

Yesterday, I went to Hokkaido to meet my girlfriend who was transferred to Sapporo! We decided to travel from Sapporo to Obihiro, so off we went. Obihiro doesn't really talk about ramen much (it's all about pork bowls), but when I asked someone who knows about ramen in the Obihiro area, they recommended Tonpei-san, so I decided to visit for the first time. It's a popular place with a constant line, a bit far from the station. The interior is counter seating only. I ordered the soy sauce ramen and a limited edition flavored egg. The cooking process took a bit of time, but you could see they were working diligently. After about 20 minutes, the ramen arrived. The rich bonito broth soy sauce soup and curly noodles caught my eye. The chashu was three large slices. The flavored egg had a white boiled egg appearance but was packed with flavor! It wasn't thick but had an amazing umami taste! The curly noodles lifted the soup and attacked my taste buds directly! Lately, there have been a lot of light and clear soy sauce ramen, but this hot soy sauce ramen with lard floating on top was outstanding! It's really delicious! It's no wonder it's so popular! Thank you for the meal!

I haven't had ramen in a while. A customer from Kanagawa came to visit and when I asked what they wanted to eat before heading back today, they replied with ramen. So, I arrived here 15 minutes before opening, but there were already 7 people waiting. I chose the ramen from the ticket machine and it only took 10 minutes to arrive. It was a reliable bowl of ramen.
