I had some business in Asahikawa and drove there for the first time in a while. This time, at my spouse's suggestion, we decided to arrive in Asahikawa a little before our appointment, have lunch, and then head to our destination. My spouse chose this place for us to dine, located quite far north from the station, facing the shopping park. There is a coin parking lot in front of the restaurant, and they offer a discount on parking fees based on your order amount, which is convenient. The exterior of the restaurant has a nice bistro-like atmosphere, and the interior is also cozy and relaxing with a calm color scheme. Although there are seats available on the first floor, we were seated on the second floor, which also had a nice ambiance. The lunch menu was extensive, with options like pasta dishes, hamburger lunch sets, and more. The "Deabola made with Kamikawa-produced Keikokumabuta" caught my eye, while my spouse ordered the "Cacciatore with bone-in young chicken." Both dishes looked appetizing in the photos. The salad and soup were served within a few minutes of ordering, followed shortly by the main dishes and bread (rice is also available). The wait time was around 15 minutes from ordering to having all the dishes served, so we didn't feel like we were kept waiting. The soup, which turned out to be onion soup with a slightly sour taste, was a bit unexpected for me. The salad was decent, but I wished for more local and original vegetables considering it was not the peak season for Hokkaido vegetables. Moving on to the main dish, the Deabola made with Kamikawa-produced Keikokumabuta had tender and flavorful pork with a clean texture. However, I felt that a little more marination or seasoning would enhance the overall taste. It seemed like the dish was meant to be enjoyed with the sauce, but a bit more flavor in the meat itself would have been nice. My spouse shared a similar sentiment, enjoying the dish but feeling slightly unsatisfied. While the restaurant had a convenient location and a pleasant atmosphere, I wouldn't say I strongly feel the urge to visit again if I have the chance to return to Asahikawa. However, I must note that the satisfaction with food can vary depending on factors like individual preferences, timing, physical condition, dining companions, etc. So, this review reflects my personal experience on that particular day and time. Thank you for the meal.

I have used this restaurant for lunch and dinner a few times. It has a Western feel and the interior is clean and not too crowded, which is nice. The lunch is served early and is satisfying, and it's great that soft drinks like coffee and tea are free. The curry, hamburgers, and pork dishes are all delicious. For dinner, there is an all-you-can-drink option with a variety of snacks, so I kept ordering one delicious item after another. The photo is of the lunch menu.

The shop where you can relax. The owners are friendly and I enjoyed pizza and soft serve ice cream. The cheese on the pizza was melty and the crust was crispy - delicious! The soft serve ice cream was refreshing and stylish. The seats by the window are safe for dining alone.

I entered this restaurant because the one I was planning to go to was closed. I sat at a table for two by the window. I ordered the Chicken Steak Set for 800 yen with rice from the lunch menu. The restaurant also measures the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air and has good safety measures. I could hear the sound of chicken being grilled from the back, and the aroma was enticing. First, I had salad and soup - Southern Island and tomato soup, which increased my appetite. Soon, the chicken and rice arrived. There were four large chicken thigh pieces with a teriyaki-like sauce. The rice went well with the meal. I enjoyed the combination of rice and chicken while finishing my meal. I'm curious about the pork dish with valley flavor for next time. Thank you for the meal.

This is an Italian restaurant near Jiyuken where I visited for the first time. I was initially thinking about getting curry, but ended up ordering the daily pasta lunch set instead. It included spaghetti with ragu sauce made from pork from Kamikawa, salad, and bread, all for 1000 yen. The spaghetti was thin, which I liked. It was not the thick and soft spaghetti from the Showa era. I dipped the leftover bread in the sauce and enjoyed it. The atmosphere was really nice and I felt like I could stay there forever. Even though they offered coffee and tea as a service, I didn't have it because more customers kept coming in. Initially, I was shown to a table on the second floor, but since I looked like I was having trouble climbing the stairs due to tired legs, they kindly asked if I preferred a table on the first floor. That gesture made me happy. Thank you for the meal!

Before this place opened, I mentioned to my friend that I wanted to go check it out. It turns out they know someone involved with the restaurant and felt obligated to go. I made a reservation and visited. The first floor had no air conditioning, so we were directed to the second floor where the air conditioning was too strong. We ordered some light dishes as there was no appetizer. The beet Western-style kinpira had a sweet Japanese taste. I mistakenly ordered the daily frittata thinking it was a fritter, but it turned out to be an omelet with eggplant and tomatoes. The Wagyu beef taliata from Kamifurano was very fatty, almost like it had been injected with fat. It was a bit heavy for me with some sinew. The menu also included some additional sake options in the fridge near the stairs. The sake "Ryu Junmai Ginjo Gohyakumangoku 50" was a bit spicy and refreshing. The maitake mushroom and young chicken peperoncino was a bit overcooked, making the noodles too soft. The maitake mushroom had a nice aroma though. The dishes I tried this time didn't quite suit my taste, and the service from the female staff was a bit lacking. They would clear the empty plates, but also take away the cutlery even if there was a little bit of food left on the plate. The chef who also worked in the front of the house was very kind and considerate. When my friend mentioned the third floor, they offered to show us around. The third floor had good air conditioning and an open kitchen, making it suitable for cooking classes, seminars, and small corporate dining events. The co-owner from Chuo Kotsu would also drop by once or twice a day. I might come back for lunch or to see the third floor. (Note: This visit was made before the state of emergency was declared. Please check the current operating status of the restaurant.)

When I first heard about this place, I thought of "Italian with a name like Canyon." It reminded me of Canyon in Sounkyo. This is the Italian restaurant "Biagrill Canyon" in Sounkyo. The similarity is striking, right? Let's go check it out. It's actually the Italian restaurant "Osteria Canyon Base" in Asahikawa. Located at 5-8 Kaimono Park, Asahikawa, you can find it on the map here. Opening hours are 11:00-14:00 and 17:30-21:00, closed on Mondays. No parking, but takeout is available. Check with the store for current opening hours, closures, and takeout options. The official website is http://bg-canyon.com/. It's located where the "Izakaya Hakkaku" used to be in the Kaimono Park. There is a paid parking lot right across the street. I arrived about 10 minutes before opening, so I hung out at the food terrace and could peek at the store's preparations from there. I entered right at 11:00 and was seated by the window. The interior of the restaurant follows the classic trend of being stylish. The casual atmosphere fits well with the concept of a casual Italian restaurant. I asked the female staff if there was any connection between this Canyon and the one in Sounkyo. She confirmed that it's the same place! Probably hearing that, the male staff who brought my order later approached me. We had a conversation about various things, but to summarize, he mentioned that the Canyon in Sounkyo is currently closed, probably due to the lack of tourists because of COVID. The staff from Sounkyo are currently working at this Asahikawa store. He also mentioned that it's hot in Asahikawa. I ordered the Diablo made with Kyouwa pork for 1200 yen including tax. It comes with rice or bread, salad, and soup. The salad was fresh and crispy, dressed with a balsamic vinegar-like seasoning, giving a refreshing impression. The soup was a mix of onion and pumpkin, surprisingly thin and smooth. The main dish arrived. I chose rice. Under the pork, there were grilled vegetables - bell pepper, shimeji mushrooms, potatoes, and pumpkin. All were fragrant and delicious. The pork was tender, with a consistent tenderness from the surface to the inside. It was moist and flavorful. It was a gentle and tasty dish. The pork wasn't devilish at all, more like "that person who always smiles and gets along with everyone." It was delicious, reasonably priced, with friendly service, and truly embodied the concept of casual Italian dining. At the time of payment, I mentioned how much I loved the "whole pumpkin gratin" they had in Sounkyo. The staff said it's popular and they also have it on the evening menu here. I might come back for dinner next time.

This is a review of an Osteria that opened in place of the closed "Izakaya Hakkaku" in Asahikawa, Kaimono Park 5-jo. I visited for lunch on a holiday. The place was quite busy as it was the first weekend after opening. The restaurant had 2-person tables, 4-person tables, and counter seats on the first floor, and additional seating on the second floor. The lunch menu ranged from 600 yen to 1200 yen, with options like work lunch on weekdays and lunch sets on weekends. I ordered the "Keikoku pork diavola" lunch set for 1200 yen with bread and a glass of red wine for 500 yen. The salad was simple, the soup had a nice onion flavor, and the main dish of Keikoku pork was tender and flavorful. The staff were friendly and the restaurant is a great place to enjoy casual Italian cuisine at a reasonable price.

I am alone in Asahikawa, making a final struggle. I planned to leave at 2 PM, but it's already almost 3 PM. Oh, things never go as planned, do they? There is a curry restaurant in the city, so I decided to go there, along with another place I missed earlier. I called the curry place and they said it would be ready in about 20 minutes. So, I went to the other place first, then picked up a few more along the way before heading to get the curry. I went into the place I thought was the one I had reserved at, without confirming, and said, "I'm Keipon, I reserved curry." They replied, "We don't have a reservation." The owner then said, "It will be ready soon." I felt a bit bad for barging in, but I ordered the "hamburger curry" for 1100 yen. It took about 15 minutes, even though they said it would be quick. The owner and staff were all very nice people, maybe they're a family? In the end, I only managed to eat at one place, but I got the hamburger curry. I ended up comparing the two curries, even though it probably wasn't the best order. I had the spicier curry first, which made this one seem a bit bland in comparison. But as I ate more, the flavors grew on me. The curry was really tasty, and even the rice was delicious. The hamburger was not my area of expertise, but my wife said it was "quite delicious." It was well-seasoned and had no unpleasant smell. Overall, it was a tasty hamburger. I mistakenly went into the wrong restaurant before reaching my intended one.
