Visit date: February 27, 2021 For dinner on this day, I visited Matsuo Jingisukan with a companion. We arrived around 5:15 pm. There were no customers before or after us. Our order included: - Regular meat: 870 yen - Premium meat: 930 yen x2 - Lamb: 1100 yen - Special lamb: 1200 yen - Pickled vegetables (napa cabbage kimchi): 270 yen - Assorted vegetables: 480 yen - Rice (large): 270 yen - Rice (medium): 210 yen - Sapporo draft beer (large): 950 yen - Regular oolong tea: 220 yen The regular meat had the familiar taste of Matsuo Jingisukan. The premium meat was softer than the regular meat. The lamb had a sweet fattiness to it which enhanced the flavor. The special lamb, as described on the menu, was very tender and slightly chewy. The pickled vegetables (napa cabbage kimchi) had a moderate level of spiciness and the napa cabbage was crunchy and tasty. The assorted vegetables included onions, cabbage, shimeji mushrooms, and bell peppers. The creamy foam of the beer was delicious. Overall, the lamb was the most delicious, but considering the price, the premium meat may be a better choice. Eating at the restaurant definitely made the meat taste better compared to buying it at the supermarket. Thank you for the meal!

"Low-carb option: lamb meat! So instead of Valentine's Day, I was treated to a feast ♡ First, I compared the meats. Ordered in the following order: regular meat, premium meat, lamb, and special lamb. Plus a side of mixed vegetables. Each meat was served with bean sprouts, but it wasn't enough, so I added an extra vegetable plate. The flavors were delicious. The regular meat had a nostalgic taste. The premium meat was tender and juicy. The lamb had a slight scent but was also elastic. The special lamb had fatty parts and was tender. All of them were delicious. The thick-cut fries were freshly made. The lamb sausage was so tasty that you wouldn't even know it was lamb if not told. The garlic was frozen due to the season, but it was still delicious. They also offer set meals and all-you-can-eat options, but I recommend trying the meat comparison. On the way out, I couldn't resist the potato chips at the entrance... but I still can't eat them! The diet journey continues..."

I visited Matsuo Genghis Khan for the first time! The time from ordering meat to it being delivered to the table was super fast! The meat was delicious, so I kept ordering more and each time it came quickly! They also offer takeout, so next time I might just buy the meat to take home! I really enjoyed the meal!

I have spent almost half of my life in Hokkaido, but I have never been to Matsunoo Genghis Khan before. When I mentioned this to my uncle, he said, "Let's go try Matsujin together!" So we decided to go to Matsunoo Genghis Khan. People here call it "Matsujin." It is true that saying the full name is quite long. We went there right away. I have seen it in commercials, but we rarely have sheep on the dining table (at least not at my parents' house), so I don't have much experience with it, and I don't really know how to eat it... I think the last time I had it was when I was a rookie at Kirin Beer Garden. First, we ordered the regular portion. I didn't take a photo, but a huge amount of food arrived. I wonder how many servings my uncle ordered. It's been a while since I've seen this unique-shaped pot-like thing. It takes time to cook... It smells so good... Here is a piece that seems to be cooked. It's not as smelly as I thought. Maybe because it's dipped in sauce? The strong flavor goes well with beer. My uncle told me to try some bean sprouts, as I had only been eating meat. When I tried it, I found out that bean sprouts are delicious, too, as they absorb the meat juices. I had only considered bean sprouts as a side dish until now, but they are actually tasty. Then, the premium meat arrived, but due to my unsophisticated palate, I found the regular meat to be the most delicious. The sausage was next. The fat oozes out. It's really tasty. The feeling of taking a big bite is indescribable. That was my Matsujin debut. The lamb was even tastier than I expected.

I mistakenly ended up at Kushiro Airport on my way back, and had to drive all the way from Shiretoko in pouring rain to get back here. Now at Kushiro Airport. The day before, I couldn't get a seat at a restaurant in Kushiro, so I had Matsuo Jingisukan for dinner. The Matsuo style of eating Jingisukan involves cooking the meat in the center and the vegetables on the outer groove. I once had all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink Jingisukan at a beer hall in Sapporo with my friend, but this time I ordered individual dishes and enjoyed the non-alcoholic version. I see, this is how Jingisukan tastes. It was quite delicious!

Kushiro Town is not a bustling place, but every time I go there, I buy a frozen pack that is somewhat popular. However, I still think that it's better to have it at the restaurant. I ordered premium lamb meat and regular Genghis Khan meat with bean sprouts, along with two bottles of warm sake. I grilled them both little by little to compare the differences in taste. They are definitely different, but when I added the regular Genghis Khan meat, it had tough muscles. That's fine because it's Genghis Khan after all. When did lamb become the mainstream for Genghis Khan? Sometimes, I think the smelly Genghis Khan in a can might be good too. I pondered ordering another bottle.

My friend from Honshu had never been to Matsuo Genghis Khan, so we decided to go. We went around 7 pm on Saturday, and there were only about 6 group customers, so the place was quite empty. Looking at the menu, there were 4 ranks of Genghis Khan: "Regular, Premium, ?, Special Premium". The price difference between Regular and Special Premium was about double, so we decided to go for the Special Premium. The meat was very tender, with no gamey taste, more like eating beef than Genghis Khan. We also ordered the Regular, which was tender as well (though not as much as the Special Premium) and had the characteristic gamey taste, which personally I preferred. The portion size for one serving was small and the price was decent, so I don't think I would go frequently. However, for 3 people or more, there is an all-you-can-eat option (limited to Regular meat only) for around 2000 yen, which I think is a good deal if you want to really indulge in Genghis Khan.
