On a certain weekday, during a slightly worrisome time in Hokkaido, I visited a dining establishment bookmarked for lunch in Toyohira-ku, Nakanoshima 1-jo. Since there didn't seem to be a parking lot, I had to think about where to park. The interior of the restaurant had a traditional Japanese feel, with a counter and a raised seating area. The background music was the midday news playing on the television. From the menu, there were dishes displayed on the counter, which made me wonder if I could choose from those as well. This time, I decided to order the top item from the main menu, the "Ginger Pork Set Meal (820 yen)". I took a bite and found that the ginger pork was made with three large slices of pork loin, cooked just right with onions in a sweet and savory sauce that wasn't too heavy on the ginger, making it appealing to everyone. It was served with freshly shredded cabbage in a Japanese-style sesame dressing. The miso-glazed eggplant had a strong miso flavor, and the potato salad with visible egg yolk was also good. The rice was freshly cooked, and the miso soup with fried tofu, seaweed, and shiitake mushrooms, along with cabbage pickles, completed the meal. Oh, there was a complimentary coffee service after the meal, and I chose iced coffee to finish off the meal in one gulp. Overall, I enjoyed the homely dishes. However, it would be more reassuring if they could put more effort into implementing better hygiene practices. Thank you for the meal.

The Chicken Nanban set meal was delicious even though it came with mayonnaise instead of tartar sauce. The plate was filled with plenty of cabbage, and the main dish, side dishes, and miso soup were all tasty. I was completely satisfied.

Today, I had a study session in a different location than usual. I had made plans to have lunch with a friend who works there, and she had made a reservation at this restaurant. The exterior of the restaurant looked unassuming and small, but inside there was a counter and two tables on a raised platform. We were seated at one of the tables as we had a reservation. The staff, all women, were very friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable. After much deliberation, I decided to order the Chicken Nanban set. It arrived in about 10 minutes - the rice was cooked on a gas stove, so it was fluffy and shiny. The Chicken Nanban had a crispy coating and juicy meat, which paired well with the sweet and savory sauce and mayonnaise. The shredded cabbage on the side was crunchy and fresh. The potato salad and mapo tofu were also delicious. I was told that I could have seconds of rice, but I was short on time so I declined. The restaurant started to fill up quickly with customers, and the counter was lined with various side dishes. After the meal, they served coffee with a choice of hot or iced. It was also very tasty. The restaurant closes at 7 pm, or when they run out of food, as indicated by a sign inside. I would love to come back and try all the items on the menu. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The place has a very plain exterior that you might not notice if you don't look closely. There is no parking lot. When you enter through the curtain, there is a counter and a raised seating area. Two women who look like housewives are in the kitchen and warmly welcome you. On the counter, there are homemade side dishes lined up. It seems like you can also take the side dishes to go. I hesitated but ordered the ginger pork set meal. It came with three large pieces of pork and plenty of sweet and savory sauce that went well with the onions. There were also small side dishes which was a nice touch. The rice was fluffy and delicious! Refills are free! They also served coffee after the meal, which was tasty regular coffee. They were selling homemade miso, so I bought two different kinds on my way out. I want to try all the different set meals they offer. They close at 8 pm, but they may close earlier if they run out of side dishes. Thank you for the meal!

On October 26, 2015, I had a meeting near this restaurant and was planning to go to a ramen shop. However, I was a bit indecisive and hesitant. As I was contemplating, the owner mentioned that he had been to this restaurant before, so I decided to go in for a visit. The curtain was up, and I entered the restaurant for some investigation. The place was empty, with only three other customers chatting happily inside. Feeling a bit out of place, I decided to sit at a small raised area instead of the counter. I looked at the menu and was torn between choosing scallop fry, ginger pork, or fried chicken. In the end, I went with the fried chicken. Surprisingly, it arrived quickly, and I started with the fried chicken. It was small and easy to eat, with a slightly light seasoning that was not too salty. The dried radish side dish seemed like something you would have with drinks at night, and the potato salad, which included macaroni, could have used a bit more mayonnaise. After the meal, coffee was served, allowing me to relax. Another group came in and sat at the raised area, filling up the restaurant. The home-cooked style and the presence of three women in the kitchen created a lively atmosphere. Fish dishes seemed to be recommended. That's all for now.
