Today, I was contemplating what snack to have and ended up craving for dorayaki. I visited a shop that I had been curious about before, and it was my first time there. I checked the menu first, which had a variety of dorayaki options from traditional ones to meal-like ones. This time, I bought the Caramel Nut, Pistachio Berry, and Apple Custard flavors. I tried the Caramel Nut first, and the combination of dorayaki dough and caramel nuts was delicious.

I visited "Dorayaki Suzuya" on June 13th for the first time. It was my first visit to this newly opened store. I arrived at 4:20 PM in search of dorayaki. It is a take-out only store, as indicated by the sign at the entrance saying "Closed." There was a menu next to the reception counter with 13 items, but the regular dorayaki was sold out and displayed in the case wrapped up. The prices ranged from 300 yen to 420 yen per item. There were unique flavors like ham and cheese, avocado mayo salmon, which seemed like a bit of a challenge for me. The staff consisted of two ladies. I purchased the following items: Strawberry with condensed milk for 350 yen, Suzuya's fresh dorayaki for 340 yen, and Anko butter dorayaki for 330 yen, totaling 1020 yen. I was curious about the design of the dorayaki mold, and it turned out to be the letter "す" from "Suzuya." It reminded me of Nami's tattoo from One Piece. When I tried them at home, they were average. The premium and satisfaction did not match the price. It might be more popular if they sold them in packaging similar to the menu design, although there could be issues with carrying them afterwards. Perhaps they could offer a special box for a fee. By the way, I was just curious about the expiration date, not to categorize the wrapping as packaging. Thank you for the meal.

"Located just a 1-minute walk from Subway Kitajuhachi-jo Station, 'Dorayaki Suzuya' will have its grand opening on May 8, 2023. The store has actually been in a soft opening phase for a few days now, and my wife and I visited around 2 pm on the 7th. Outside the store, there is a small window for takeout orders, and inside the showcase, there are about 10 different flavors of dorayaki. While there are some unique options like 'Prosciutto Cheese @420' and 'Avocado Salmon @420', I prefer the sweeter varieties myself.
I purchased 'Suzuya's Fresh Dorayaki @340, Matcha Red Bean @350, Rum Raisin Chocolate @350'. The friendly young lady at the store and another lady in the back making dorayaki were both pleasant to interact with. We enjoyed the dorayaki after dinner.
'Suzuya's Fresh Dorayaki' had a moist skin with a restrained sweetness red bean and whipped cream filling. It was a basic dorayaki, but the size was quite average, so it didn't feel particularly special.
The 'Matcha Red Bean' had red bean and matcha cream with a mild sweetness. I felt that all the items could benefit from a bit more filling. I had once tried a dorayaki in Nagasaki with a mochi-like texture using rice flour, which was very delicious. I was hoping for something similar, but it didn't quite meet my expectations.
The price of a product is the seller's assertion, so I believe it doesn't matter how much it costs. There are many products that continue to be successful even at higher prices. However, without a certain number of customers who agree, it won't last. Perhaps they have some secret strategy planned for the future. I look forward to seeing how things develop. Thank you for the meal."

2023.05.06 Visit Oh, wait? Did I get the information wrong? The shop is actually open! There's a sign next to the shop saying Grand Opening on 5/8 haha It's for takeout! I bought a dorayaki for 300 yen 300 yen?! 300 yen??? Yes, it's 300 yen haha I also got a rum raisin dorayaki for 350 yen and a caramel nut dorayaki for 350 yen. I like rum raisin so I had no problem eating it, but I wonder how it would be for someone who doesn't like it. Oh, maybe try before you buy? haha The caramel nut one made a crunchy sound in my mouth, like, what is this?! It was surprising, but the caramel nuts were crispy and it added an interesting texture. Alright! Three dorayaki for a thousand yen! (^_^;)

Dorayaki specialty store. I visited because it was nearby. I bought the prosciutto and chocolate banana flavors. The dorayaki dough was a bit sweet for me. So, it goes well with sweet fillings, but maybe not so much with savory ones like salad?
