I had been interested in Komagen for a while, so I decided to go for a solo drink. I made a reservation through Tabelog, but it seemed like they didn't have it on record. This was my second time experiencing this issue. The reliability of their reservations seems a bit questionable. Nevertheless, I was able to get in, so I'll take it as a win. I heard they have nighttime soup curry, but unfortunately, it was on break. Bummer. However, I was happy to see they offer a half menu for solo diners. I ordered the popular Galisaba and smoked chicken thighs. The Galisaba was delicious with chopped ginger inside. And the tuna cheek for only 660 yen was a steal for this amount. I also ordered the grilled eel with ponzu sauce and switched to the Sanchosakura sake. It had a nice balance of rice flavor and richness, making it a perfect match for sashimi. The food was delicious, and the solo diner-friendly atmosphere left a good impression. I'd like to come back next time to try the soup curry.

Making a reservation was a great decision! We went to Asahikawa, and it's nice, but it can get really cold there. The cold feels intense for some reason, even though the temperature is similar to other places. I looked up the average temperatures for January and February in Asahikawa, Obihiro, and Kitami, and it seems like Asahikawa is colder overall. I received a message saying "Let's go to Asahikawa!" and I immediately thought it would be for skiing, which turned out to be true. We made a reservation at a place called "Koma Gen," without knowing much about it. It's a popular spot with limited seating, and we opted for the counter seats. The all-you-can-drink option was a bit pricey, so we decided to limit ourselves to three drinks. The beer was perfect and delicious. The food menu was not extensive, but the dishes we tried were tasty. The atmosphere was lively, with young people enjoying themselves. Overall, it was a good experience, and we left satisfied after three drinks.

The restaurant serves soup curry for lunch and turns into an izakaya at night, and both were delicious! The dishes and drinks had unique names and a wide variety, which made it enjoyable! Just be aware that they don't serve soup curry at night, so take note of that!

I have been to Komagen several times. My friend always takes me to weird places, so this time I chose a safe option. They had beer, so I ordered a glass of classic beer for 320 yen. The appetizer was 350 yen. I had the ramen salad, which seems to be a fixed menu item now. The food menu has decreased in variety, maybe due to the pandemic. I tried the crispy fried nagaimo for 640 yen, which seemed to be an upgraded version. The saba can revolution for 620 yen was delicious, with fatty and tender mackerel. I also had the stuffed bell peppers with meat for 750 yen, which was hot and had a firm texture. The drink menu only allows one glass of sake outside of the all-you-can-drink option. I wish I could try more varieties of sake.

Recommended by others and caught my eye on Instagram. The atmosphere is cozy, with smoking allowed inside. Various magazines are placed near the entrance and counter, keeping you entertained even if you're alone. There are small items scattered around, giving a warm and homely feel with hand-drawn illustrations. The staff, although young, are friendly and approachable without being overly chatty. The space isn't very large, but it was packed with young people on weekends. The dishes are not your typical fare, with unique touches that pair well with drinks. The portions are generous, so you might not be able to try everything. There is a wide selection of sake to choose from, matching your mood and food. Overall, it's a cozy and eclectic place where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks. The regular updates on Instagram create a sense of familiarity.

Last year, a few of us visited Asahikawa for a business trip with Mairevi-san, but honestly, the food didn't quite suit my taste... I saw on Hot Pepper that they had relocated. After a few months, we finally decided to give it a try. This time, I wanted to enjoy some sake, so we opted for individual drinks instead of all-you-can-drink!
- Izumi Hashi Junmai Ginjo "Kirakira Tonbo" Tamanei Half 420 yen
This brewery tends to be on the spicy side, including this one.
- Appetizer 400 yen
Pumpkin and green pepper tempura
Crispy and delicious, freshly fried and fluffy inside.
- Smoked chicken intestines 580 yen
The smoky flavor is strong! It's delicious, as expected.
- Avocado and cream cheese with wasabi 550 yen
Wasabi alone is not enough, but it's good with avocado!
- Sliced grilled fresh octopus with wasabi 530 yen
The grilled flavor is fragrant, with a crispy texture and delicious taste.
My companion seemed to like the smoked dish, and while debating between breast or thigh, we asked the staff for recommendations. We also asked if we could have both with a half portion, but unfortunately, it was not possible. In the end, we went with the recommended breast.
- Itaru Junmai Half 390 yen
I tried various other drinks, but this one was the sweetest and my favorite.
The lighting had a yellowish tint, so the photos didn't turn out well, which was a shame. We enjoyed a variety of sake and delicious dishes. As we discussed where to go next, we found out that the restaurant we used to frequent was also a favorite of my companion. Luckily, we didn't run into each other when we were there without makeup! Let's head there next time!

The "Ozeki no Kai" event hosted by Sakazuki Ogawa was attended by 8 drinking friends. The owner of the restaurant also helped out and I had a chance to chat with them for a bit! I wanted to visit the restaurant, so I went there! "Do you remember me?" "Yes, I remember you!" They remembered me! I was expecting a more sophisticated atmosphere, but it was actually quite bright. The use of small items was nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant! The background music was by artists like Tatsuro Yamashita and BEGIN. When I mentioned that it felt like a resort, the owner said, "The interior was inspired by Taiwan." Well, whether it's Okinawa or Taiwan, it's a relaxing atmosphere. I started with a "Draft Beer (Perfect Classic)" (450 yen, excluding tax). The appetizer was "Meatball with Demi-Glace Sauce." There were many recommended dishes that looked delicious! First, I ordered the "Smoked Mackerel with Buttered Potatoes" (580 yen). Smoked mackerel on buttered potatoes with skin! They told me to mix it well before eating, so I did. The smoked mackerel flavor matched well with the buttery potatoes. This goes really well with beer! For the second dish, I ordered "Beef Tataki with Grated Ponzu Sauce" (830 yen). The beef tataki was very fresh and had a beautiful color. They used good quality meat! I enjoyed it with grated ponzu sauce for a refreshing taste! For drinks, I chose sake. I ordered "Junmai Muroka Namagenshu Karakuchi" (half-size 390 yen). It was a solid and dry sake. Next, I had "Tsuru no Ongaeshi Junmai Sake" from Higashizuru Sake Brewery (half-size 390 yen). This sake was released as a "autumn sake" after the heavy rain in August caused damage to Saga's Higashizuru Sake Brewery. This sake embodies the brewery's spirit. Let's savor it. One more snack, "Stuffed Bell Peppers with Larez" (680 yen). "Larez"? Raw bell peppers with cheese-topped "tsukune" appeared. The staff told me to "enjoy plenty of stuffing in the bell peppers!" This was a new taste for me! I don't usually eat raw bell peppers, but surprisingly, it was good! I had the "tsukune" stuffed with sauce, cheese, and white sesame seeds. This is a creative dish! The owner and staff were friendly and the service was excellent. It was a very cozy restaurant experience!

Impressive was... being able to enjoy a PERFECT CLASSIC in a beautiful beer mug ♡ It's a place you'd want to visit just for that important first drink...♪*゚ They handle various types of sake, mainly from the mountains, which is nice (*´꒳`*)♪ The staff in charge of the food is always putting effort into coming up with new ideas for dishes (。•̀ᴗ-)و ̑̑✧ They are doing their best ♬ The food menu is quite interesting and they also have my favorite, "Gari Saba" ♬ It feels like a place that focuses on sake, and they even hold events like "Sake Tasting" ♬ I heard about the relocation from the head chef of "Kyuen Homare" and planned to visit a few days after the opening on 10/1, but ended up going on the third day due to some circumstances... I didn't know it was already open (laughs). The new location is nice because you can overlook the customers from the counter, as the owner happily mentioned ♬ I look forward to seeing this place grow into a cozy and comfortable spot ♬ You can leisurely enjoy sake, start with a draft beer, and if it's alcohol, it's definitely "Koma Gen" ♬ Cheers to a delicious meal~(*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

I went to a new izakaya that opened last year on the outskirts of Sanroku Street in Asahikawa. They recently started serving lunch, and I heard they offer soup curry. The menu had various options including chicken soup curry, vegetable soup curry with 13 types of vegetables, and hormone soup curry. I chose the hormone soup curry with medium-sized hormone number 4. The soup was light but flavorful with a good balance of meat and vegetables. The fried vegetables were delicious, and the rice was just right. Overall, it was a satisfying meal for around 1,000 yen. I will definitely come back again.
