Visited for the first time in April 2021, this izakaya in Chitose City's downtown area specializes in Kyushu's local chicken dishes. It used to be located in Shimizu-cho in the same city, but moved to Sakimachi about a year ago. The new location is more visible, making it easier for passersby to notice. I arrived on a weekday around 6:00 PM, and the downtown area was still quiet with no other customers in the restaurant. I started with a "Lemon Sour" to quench my thirst and ordered "Seseri Yakitori" and "Chicken Breast Sashimi" as appetizers. The complimentary appetizer was quite impressive, served on a long plate with three items including asparagus, char siu, and pickles, all for a reasonable price of 390 yen. The Seseri Yakitori was served on a unique iron plate resembling a hoe blade, accompanied by grilled cabbage and yuzu pepper for added flavor. The Chicken Breast Sashimi came with a generous portion and was served with condiments like myoga, onion, green onion, and shredded seaweed, along with wasabi. I switched to Fukuoka's "Mitayama Haidakarakuchi" sake for my second drink, which was poured right in front of me. The highlight of the meal was the "Chicken Nanban" I ordered later, which was a smaller, bite-sized version of the usual dish with plenty of tartar sauce, all for a great value of 550 yen. I ended the meal with "Shirokiri Shima" shochu from Kyushu. The open kitchen facing the counter seats added to the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. There are many other menu items I would like to try, so I plan to revisit soon.
