This is a small sushi restaurant in Oto Town. I often go to Tsuru no Yu, a nearby public bath, and have always wanted to enjoy sushi at the counter after a bath. Unfortunately, this time I visited for the first time after showering at home. When I entered, instead of a loud "Welcome!" I was greeted with a soft-spoken "Welcome" by the gentle owner. The counter is made of unpainted white wood, and I could feel the attention to detail in the sushi case. I ordered two beers with high expectations, but they turned out to be Asahi Super Dry, which I'm not a fan of. I ordered a few sashimi dishes for appetizers, and my wife ordered seasonal leaf-wasabi rolls. My wife said the leaf-wasabi rolls tasted like butter, which I found amusing, and I enjoyed the pickled mackerel. The pickled mackerel was delicious, and I ended up ordering more. The freshness of the soy sauce was excellent, with a crunchy texture different from the supermarket packaged soy sauce. The grilled eel was perfectly cooked, and I enjoyed a cold sake after finishing the disliked Super Dry beer. I tried the premium sushi set, which included herring, gizzard shad, salmon roe, sea urchin, and more. I particularly liked the gizzard shad, which was not listed on the menu or in the sushi case. The trout salmon was also excellent with its refined fat. The tempura was a bit lacking, though. We had four cups of local sake and about five beers, along with additional orders of sushi and appetizers, totaling 1,100 yen. The local sake, such as Midorikawa and Ichinokura Tokubetsu Junmai, was 500 yen per cup. Although not a top-tier restaurant, the food was delicious and fresh. Considering the environment, it was a surprisingly good restaurant. I highly recommend it. Note: I inquired about their lunch hours after reading a review mentioning lunch, but the owner mentioned that they do not operate during lunch hours due to being short-staffed. It's a shame.
