If you feel like having coffee in Otaru, the first place that comes to mind is this cozy cafe run by an Australian husband and Japanese wife. The authentic taste of coffee from coffee powerhouse Australia can be enjoyed here, with the recommended order being iced cafe latte. The friendly atmosphere and conversations with the couple add to the charm, and you can also get valuable information about Otaru and its surroundings. It's truly priceless, beyond just the taste of the coffee. #coffee #cafe #Otaru #Hokkaido #gourmet #EnoLog #HokkaidoLove

Spring has come! However, it is still chilly in Otaru. I walked from Minami-Otaru Station to Hanazono, hunching my back. I had been interested in a cafe called "B3 COFFEE" as a casual coffee lover after seeing reviews on Tabelog. It seems that they relocated from "Kiroro" in November 2021. The store is still new and clean. Upon opening the door and entering the store, there were two groups of customers, three people in total. The owner seemed Western, while the wife appeared to be Japanese. I ordered a coffee for 450 yen without even looking at the menu. There are about 8 to 9 counter seats facing two walls. I paid and took a seat. The espresso machine is a high-end Italian machine called "La Marzocco." After about 5 minutes, a black cup was placed in front of me. Since it was extracted from an espresso machine, it is technically an Americano. I imagined a rich taste with a beautiful crema typical of espresso machines as I took a sip. But what's this? The beans seemed lightly roasted, contrary to my expectations. It had a light but striking acidity. I don't think I've ever had coffee extracted from lightly roasted beans using an espresso machine. There is information that the beans are the same as those used by the famous Tokyo cafe "Fuglen Coffee" (unconfirmed). In any case, it was a mysterious coffee. It had a solid flavor but was refreshing. There was hardly any bitterness when sipped, but a faint bitterness lingered in the throat after swallowing. It was very intriguing. The atmosphere in the cafe was almost entirely English due to the English-speaking customers. I quietly enjoyed my coffee while the friendly owner played with his phone. As I left, he said, "Goodbye, see you again." I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

This is B3 Coffee in the flower garden. After eating omurice, I took a little break here. This place is run by an Australian man named Black, his Japanese wife, and their daughter, so the name of the shop is B3 Coffee. They use a high-end espresso machine from the Italian company La Marzocco and they use coffee beans from a famous shop in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, Tokyo called "Allpress Espresso". The flat white I had last time was smooth and very delicious. This time, I tried the Coffee Jelly (550 yen). When it was brought to me, it looked like regular coffee, but when I touched it with a spoon, I was reassured that it was jelly. First, I tried it as it is. ...What is this, it's so delicious! If I had to describe it in one word, it would be intense! Deep! Bitter! (Sorry, that was three words). I think this is the most delicious coffee jelly I've ever had. It's delicious as it is, but I like to add milk to my coffee, so I added some. It became smoother, and even with milk, it's delicious! I tried to remain calm so as not to be seen as a weird person, but deep down, I was impressed by the deliciousness and my excitement was building up. I really liked this place. I'm not very knowledgeable about coffee and I'm not a coffee shop hopper, but among the places I've been to, this is the best. The owner, Mr. Black, showed his face at one point and he was very good at Japanese and had a cheerful demeanor. I'll definitely come back, thank you for the meal~.

Last week, I found a coffee shop while exploring this area because I arrived a bit early for the opening hours of the shop I was originally planning to visit. It was surprising to find a cafe in this area, as I rarely come here and didn't know about it. It's located near the national highway, but since the road in front of the shop is one-way, you can't access it directly from the highway. You need to turn at the corner of Kamaei on Hanagane Street. I thought there was no parking in front of the shop, so I parked at a nearby coin parking lot, but I later found out that parking spot number 10 in the monthly parking lot next to it is actually for the shop, so it's okay to park there. It's not easy to figure out at first glance. The shop used to operate under the name Double Black Cafe at Kiroro before, but it was renovated and reopened as B3coffee at this location at the end of last year. The interior is decorated with winter sports posters and ski boards. They also have counter seats, so I decided to dine in. I ordered a Flat White and an Apple and Cream Cheese Bread. They use Allpress Coffee beans here. As someone who is not a coffee expert, I must say that I found it delicious right from the first sip. I can't explain it well, but it was good. The Apple and Cream Cheese Bread was moist with plenty of apples. It's delicious on its own, but when you add whipped cream, the deliciousness increases even more. I really liked it. This is a recommended place for when you want to relax and enjoy coffee in a calming atmosphere. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The normal café was delicious but not cheap, although the portion size was large. The seating arrangement and chairs were not very comfortable, but the staff were friendly. Overall, it was just an average café. I probably won't go back, but it might be worth a visit if you're in the area.

I went to see the Snow Light Path in Otaru City in winter. This year, the event was only along the canal, not on the former Temiyasen Line, which was a bit disappointing. But it was still beautiful! There were food stalls set up in front of the former Hokkai Seikan building. You can warm up by the bonfire and enjoy a cup of coffee from B3 COFFEE for 500 yen. The coffee had a strong acidity but was delicious. After walking a bit more along the canal, I headed back to the station.
