The best thing about this shop is definitely the comfortable and spacious atmosphere. The overall impression is roomy. Placing the counter a little further back and having a wide space near the entrance is a good idea that avoids a cramped feeling. I tried the blend coffee (400 yen) and while it doesn't have a distinct flavor, it is easy to drink and light. The food menu is also extensive, making it perfect for a break. To sum it up, the coffee is easy to drink, the menu is varied, and the spacious and cozy atmosphere is the best. It's perfect for a break during your travels! Thank you for the meal~

At the end of October, we took a Peach flight from Osaka on a 2-day trip to Hokkaido with 3 people! We discovered a retro café in Otaru with a lovely exterior. We strolled around Otaru, visited the LeTao main store, and went to the Otaru Canal. Feeling a bit tired, we decided to sit down at this café. The interior was dimly lit with no windows, giving it a retro feel. I had a Rosehip tea which had a vibrant deep red color and a refreshing acidity. The rose aroma was lovely. My companion had the Blend Coffee which was freshly ground and had a nice aroma and richness. The water served was delicious, making the drinks even more enjoyable. We walked around Otaru quickly and got tired, but we were able to relax and unwind at this café.

"The wall paintings are all made of cutouts. Just a regular painting wouldn't be displayed in such a fancy frame. Since last year, I've been curious about the restaurant next to Brick Alley. The lunch is affordable, and the building is lovely, but I never took the first step to go in. However, on this day, I had some extra time before my next appointment, so I decided to go for it. The interior was much different than I imagined. It said 'Cafe Bar' outside, so I thought it would be a trendy cafe, but it was more like a modern-day coffee shop - not too flashy, not too old-fashioned. The prices were pleasantly affordable, just like a regular coffee shop. There were various food options, and the set menu was surprisingly cheap. I ordered a hot cocoa, and it was just right - not too strong, not too weak, and filled generously. Jazz music was playing, and the atmosphere felt stylish yet nostalgic. The popular 'Chiffon' was sold out, which was a bit disappointing. I admired the delicate cutout artwork on the walls, which looked like regular paintings at first glance. The owner, who was proudly talking about it, seemed calm and fitting for a cafe."

OTARU CANAL: This restaurant, located in the shopping district of Otaru, is not actually by the canal. However, it is a brick warehouse built in the Meiji era, which gives it a distinctive Otaru charm. Although there is no historical building sign, the brick structure stands out among the stone buildings in the area. Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere is quite ordinary. I tried the "Menchi Katsu (650 yen)" from the lunch menu. The thick cutlet oozed with juices when I broke it open with chopsticks. Even without sauce or mustard, it was flavorful. The large slices of onion added a nice sweetness. The spaghetti on the side added color to the lunch plate. The only disappointment was the soup, which lacked flavor. The Menchi Katsu stole the show. I wish the restaurant had a bit more atmosphere to match its potential.

There is a shop near Otaru Station. The exterior is incredibly stylish with a brick-like design. It's so nice that I want to live there. However, when you go inside, it's a different story. The owner is friendly, and the menu mainly consists of set meals. The coffee is delicious, and there are also plenty of light snacks available.
