On a Saturday night in the bustling entertainment district of Nakajima-cho in Muroran, I decided to go out for sushi. The restaurant I had in mind was full, so I ended up at "Yagura Sushi". It's located a bit away from the main nightlife area, with a traditional and cozy atmosphere. The place was empty when I entered, with a counter and a raised tatami seating area. Despite the old exterior, the interior was well-maintained. Later, a family of regulars arrived, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The chef was friendly when I spoke to him. I sat at the counter, ordered a beer, and made a toast. Though it was bottled beer (Sapporo Black Label), it still tasted great when enjoyed outside. The menu included shrimp and mushroom with egg, and a whelk as appetizers. For sushi, I ordered the "Jyo Sushi" set, which included tuna, flounder, ark shell, scallop, crab, shrimp, salmon roe, and a rolled sushi. The meal also came with miso soup with fish balls. The quality of the ingredients was better than expected, with highlights being the ark shell and crab. The prices were reasonable, but some may find it slightly expensive given the variety. I spent about an hour at the restaurant. Overall, "Yagura Sushi" provided a satisfying dining experience.
