Due to the rise in wheat prices, the prices of noodles have also increased. From March 7th, Marugame Seimen also raised their prices across the board. Despite the price increase, I cannot resist indulging in a little luxury and find myself going there often. Regardless of the season or location, their noodles are safe and reliable. I had their classic kettle-cooked udon with grated daikon radish and vegetable tempura.

The firmness of the noodles and the taste of the broth soy sauce, tempura, etc. are not much different from Iyo Seimen Kushiro Koba Store. The size of the restaurant is an advantage over Iyo Seimen. The overwhelming difference is in the quality of customer service. Perhaps it was just an off day, but there was a lack of energy. Despite the bright lighting inside the restaurant, the atmosphere feels dark. I consider customer service and atmosphere as part of the overall dining experience, so I rated it below average. I arrived at the restaurant around 12:30. There were many customers before and after me. I was craving Marugame Udon, so I came here! I ordered the Niku Ga Sane Tamago Ankake Udon (large), Toriten, and Chikuwa Ten. The noodles here are firm and really delicious. The broth is thick and slightly sweet with beef and minced meat in it. The fluffy texture of the egg is amazing! Even in a large portion, I finished it quickly. The Toriten was piping hot and delicious. When I dipped the Chikuwa Ten in the broth, it was maximum deliciousness. It's a shame there isn't a Marugame Udon near my home. I will definitely go back again.

Hokkaido report (lol) At Marugame Seimen, the season has come again this year! Taru Chicken Tempura Bukkake! There was a thick fog everywhere! (lol) After watching the popular national gourmet YouTuber Wakki TV's live video, I really wanted to eat it! (lol) It was not crowded even around 6 pm on a weekday! "Taru Chicken Tempura Bukkake, regular size ¥690 + extra taru ¥30" Four big, manly chicken tempura pieces were topped with a tantalizing taru sauce on refreshing watercress. I couldn't resist the temptation! Start with the watercress and enjoy the taru sauce as you please! (lol) The extra taru is a must for taru sauce lovers! The freshly fried hot chicken tempura is delicious! The udon noodles also go down really well! I quickly and happily finished the meal! I'm curious about the new Tomatama Curry Udon too! Thank you for the meal.

I entered the store and it wasn't very crowded, with only one or two people in line. I ordered a large serving of kettle-cooked udon with toppings of inari, shrimp tempura, chicken tempura, and chicken thigh tempura. My companion had the parent and child bowl udon, which had a good chewy texture and was satisfying. There were unlimited servings of green onions and tempura flakes, and I got extra green onions because I like them. My companion said the parent and child bowl was delicious. Even while we were eating, there were many customers getting takeout.

Visit date: February 26, 2021 For dinner on this day, my companion and I revisited Marugame Seimen. We arrived around 8:00 PM. There were 2 groups of customers before us and 4 groups after us. Our order: - Beef Sukiyaki Kamatama (regular) 690 yen - Kashiwa Tempura 150 yen - Zangi 100 yen - Rice for Tendon 140 yen - Duck and Green Onion Udon (regular) 690 yen Beef Sukiyaki Kamatama: The sweet-flavored meat is similar to meat udon, but the egg is a nice touch. You can even eat rice with the udon. Kashiwa Tempura & Zangi: They were a bit tough as they had cooled down. Duck and Green Onion Udon: The duck meat was tender, but the broth lacked depth. There were 4-5 pieces of duck meat. The green onions had a grilled appearance but were not too soft or sweet. The broth, overall, lacked a strong duck and green onion flavor. Individually, each item was tasty, but they did not complement each other well. I would come back here when I crave udon. Thank you for the meal.

Pork Chanpon for 690 yen and Taru Chicken Tempura for 690 yen. When you order, you may have to wait for about 3-5 minutes, and they don't bring the food to your table, so you have to wait near the register. The soup is a bit salty, but it might be good for people who like Chanpon. The Taru Chicken Tempura, with 4 pieces, is delicious. The soup has a yuzu flavor, but the combination with tartar sauce is a bit subtle.

In the future, some effort may be needed. I used to think, "Marugame Seimen in Kushiro? Really?" so I never had the chance to try it. But now that I'm in Kushiro, I had to settle for Tokeiya for lunch. Today is a day when I can take my time, so I'm killing time until then by jotting down notes. While on the way to a bakery, I saw a Marugame Seimen commercial on TV mentioning they started offering takeout. What? A sudden opportunity has arrived! I'll stop by on my way back. The question is, "Does the Kushiro store also offer takeout?" When I arrived, there were customers inside, and I saw a sign that seemed to say "For takeout customers..." or something similar. I decided to try the Curry Udon. I thought I would have to cook the udon myself, but they actually cook it for you. Marugame always claims to serve freshly made udon, but that's not true. J.A.R.O must be keeping quiet about it. This is my second time at Marugame, and the system seems too complicated and bothersome. I don't like it. I'll eat it after Yome-san comes back. She said, "There's plenty of udon, but not enough curry." After she gave me some of hers, I realized there were too many tenkasu pieces soaking up the broth. It was good, but the udon was too soft. That's not the Marugame I know. It should boast about its firmness, not being too soft. But since it's takeout, I guess it's understandable. Maybe they should consider options like having customers cook the udon themselves or providing uncooked udon. The curry had no spiciness at all, but the flavor was decent. It wasn't too salty, which is a plus. You'll have to add your own spiciness if you want it. Marugame Seimen can't do the kind of spicy that I like. It was delicious. There are some challenges ahead, but overall, it was good.

Spicy Tan Tan Udon for 670 yen [Overall Review]: This is not delicious. The broth is below cup noodle quality, and it feels like they just added some spice to make it tan tan. [Noodles]: The usual noodles. [Broth]: I have repeatedly enjoyed the Tan Tan Udon from Iyo Seimen, so I had high hopes for Marugame Seimen, but it was a big disappointment. It lacks flavor and tastes like they just added spice to make it spicy. Iyo Seimen is 490 yen and Marugame Seimen is 670 yen. Even if the prices were reversed, I wouldn't eat Marugame Seimen's Tan Tan Udon. That's how disappointed I was. It's surprising how much the price and satisfaction can differ in similar chain restaurants.

I left Sapporo in the morning and arrived in Kushiro, but there was heavy snow due to a bomb cyclone. The JR train line from Nemuro to Kushiro to Obihiro has been suspended all day. I thought I might have to stay overnight, but it seems that the intercity buses are still running, so I made a reservation. Since the parking lot is spacious and easy to park, I looked for a restaurant and came to Marugame Seimen in Hoshigaura. It was past 2 pm and there were no customers. I ordered the Kitsune Udon (regular size) for 400 yen plus tax and the Scallop Tempura for 110 yen. As usual, the food was served quickly, and I paid at the counter before adding my own sauce and water. I sprinkled some shichimi pepper and added a little tempura flakes. I sat at a table in the empty restaurant and started eating. The light and refined broth had a nice bonito flavor, and I always think that the taste at this price point is the best. Personally, I prefer Hanamaru, but for udon, I think Marugame is better (although it's a close call). The Scallop Tempura used baby scallops and since they were pre-fried, they lacked the crispy texture and felt a bit oily. I will probably visit one of these places again in the future. In August 2019, I decided to casually go out for udon for dinner. After doing some research online, I ordered rice first at the counter and then added tempura to make a tempura bowl, as it was recommended as delicious. I also ordered cold bukkake udon. It was fun to be able to choose and place the tempura on my own tempura bowl. They even had special sauce for the tempura bowl. However, there was no hot soup available, so I poured udon soup into a separate bowl, added green onions, and made my own self-service soup (a bit embarrassing). Ah, I'm so full.

Visit date: June 11, 2019 For dinner on this day, I visited Marugame Seimen with a friend. It was around 7:30 PM and the restaurant was quite busy with students and other customers. Our orders were: - Spicy meat dipping udon (regular) - 690 yen - Rice for tempura bowl - 130 yen - Mini scallop tempura - 120 yen - Chicken tempura - 150 yen - Squid tempura - 120 yen - Shrimp tempura - 150 yen - Champon udon (regular) - 690 yen - Mini scallop tempura - 120 yen - Inari sushi - 100 yen The spicy meat dipping udon had shredded seaweed on top, and when you mix it, the sweet flavored meat appears. The meat was sweet and the dipping sauce was a bit spicy, maybe from chili oil. It was a busy combination of sweet and spicy flavors. My friend chose the champon udon, which was authentic champon according to them. They liked to add extra pepper at the end to suit their taste. They mentioned that it was delicious, but they still prefer ramen over champon. I tried the mini scallop tempura, which was a new type of tempura for me. Even though you couldn't see the scallop, the taste was definitely there and it was quite delicious. Overall, Marugame Seimen never disappoints with their delicious food. The staff seemed a bit tired and not as energetic, but they were probably just busy. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on May 2, 2019, using the Golden Week holiday to play in Chitose and Tomakomai and returned to my hometown. I always end up craving soba or udon noodles. On this day, I felt like eating again, so a friend and I visited Marugame Seimen. Our order included: - Beef Udon (regular) 590 yen - Clam Udon (regular) 590 yen - Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl 390 yen I really like the Beef Udon at Marugame Seimen. It was delicious as always. The Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl had fluffy egg and tender meat. The sauce covered the rice generously. It was a good deal for a mini bowl. The Clam Udon was filled with plenty of clams, and the broth had a nice clam flavor without being too salty. There aren't many udon shops in Kushiro, so Marugame Seimen is a much-appreciated restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Marugame-san. Oh my, it's delicious, isn't it? It's even tastier than eating udon at a fancy soba restaurant. Well, maybe because there isn't much of a udon-eating culture in the northern region. On this day, my family happened to have some business in the Tottori area, and we were thinking about what to eat for lunch. If we were here, I thought, Marugame might be good. And I really wanted to eat the seasonal menu item they had, the tantan udon! It was available that day too. Tantan udon. It was really delicious. The thick tantan soup is definitely better than that of a certain mediocre ramen shop!! It's a thick, spicy tantan soup that I like. And my husband ordered the salted pork rice, which tasted similar to a certain convenience store bento and was very tasty (*´з`) The twins had the classic zaru udon with their favorite sweet potato tempura. I hoped they would continue serving tantan udon, but my husband went for a solo meal when the three of us were away, and he found out that it was no longer on the menu...(/ω\) I wonder if it will make a comeback next winter. Visit date October 20, 2018. On this day, my friend had a work gathering, so I decided to treat myself to Marugame Seimen again, where I had delicious curry udon last time. This time, I ordered the following: - Niku Udon (beef udon) - regular size for 590 yen I also ordered rice, kashiwa (chicken), and another dish, possibly zangi (fried chicken). The system here is that you receive a bowl with the boiled udon, then you pick up the tempura items while heading to the cashier to pay. The beef udon and curry udon take a bit of time to prepare, so there might be a wait, but it was not busy during my visit. I sat at the counter seat by the wall since I was dining alone. The place was clean, but I wiped the table just in case. The beef udon had a flavor similar to sukiyaki, sweet and salty, which I found delicious. The broth paired well with the ingredients, and the udon had a nice texture. It was definitely enjoyable. The fried items were average, with tempura and shrimp tempura being better than the chicken. Overall, it's a good place for a quick and casual meal.

Visited on October 7, 2018 for lunch with a friend. We ordered the following: - Curry Udon (regular) for 490 yen - Inari (100 yen) - Rice (130 yen) - Kashiwa Tempura (140 yen) - Squid Tempura (120 yen) - Tachiuo Tempura (160 yen) This was my first time trying the Curry Udon. Normally, I would get boiled udon noodles over the counter and add broth at the table, but this time they asked us to wait for 5 minutes at our seats. The curry udon was delicious with just the right amount of spiciness. The prices were reasonable and satisfying. We also ordered some tempura, which was crispy and tasty.

The Marugame Seimen in Kushiro offers unlimited servings of green onions, tempura flakes, and seaweed, which I found very appealing. Although I felt that the atmosphere and quality of udon were slightly inferior to other branches, I enjoyed the unlimited seaweed topping. It was delicious.
