An elderly couple runs this cozy café together, where you can hear Showa-era enka music playing in the background despite the Western-style decor. The interior looks like it has been around for a long time, with a well-maintained vintage charm throughout. The café is named "Kissaten San Remo," and upon looking up the meaning of San Remo, I found out it is a tourist city in Liguria, Italy. Although I couldn't confirm if the European-style furniture is Italian, the café exudes a lovely European atmosphere. The café has parking space for about three cars, one of which seemed to belong to the owners. I ordered the fried rice set, which came with miso soup, pickles, and a homemade creamy salad with a delightful mix of crunchy onions, cucumbers, and potatoes. The fried rice had a nice crunch from the fresh scallions, and the homemade ingredients added a unique and delicious touch. The pickles, similar to Nara pickles, complemented the rice perfectly. The scallion soup was a great pairing with the fried rice. Despite being labeled as a light meal, the fried rice was quite filling and satisfying. I was the first customer during lunchtime, but soon two elderly regulars arrived, followed by another customer, creating a cozy atmosphere of regulars chatting with the owner. After the meal, a hot coffee was automatically served, which had a smooth bitterness and a lingering acidity that was quite pleasant. Overall, the fried rice set was a great value and delicious, making me want to come back again. The drink menu also includes alcoholic beverages, so I wonder if they offer snacks to go with them.
