I went to Curry Kobo today. It was around Sunday afternoon, with no customers before me and 2 groups after me. When I sat at the counter, the recommended menu was right in front of me, making it easy to see. I ordered the "Vegetable and Bacon Omelette Curry" from the recommended section. It came with salad and Oolong tea for 1050 yen. They asked me about the spiciness level this time, so I requested it to be spicy. By default, it is medium spicy. It might be easier if they had numbers like soup curry restaurants for ordering. The curry that was brought out was beautifully presented as always! The curry on a separate plate was the type where everything blends together, giving it a rich flavor and a generous portion. The spiciness was also nicely spicy. The side dishes and salad were carefully made and perfect. The omelette was also delicious with a half-cooked texture. It's been a while since I last went, but the curry was still delicious and satisfying! I will definitely go again. Thank you for the meal!

On a Thursday afternoon, I planned to have lunch at a restaurant called Daingon, but found out that they are closed on Thursdays starting from June. I was disappointed and didn't know where to eat. Then I noticed a curry restaurant across the street. It looked a bit run-down from the outside, but the pictures displayed outside seemed appetizing. I decided to give it a try! I ordered the curry platter with 3 types of curry, although I wasn't sure what they were. You could choose between soup or roux for the curry base, and I chose roux based on the recommendation of the waitress. The dish was served on a large plate that resembled a microwave turntable, with various items on it. It looked fancy! There were grilled vegetables, asparagus spring rolls, soft pickles, scallop wrapped in meat, sauerkraut, and meat... Wait, 3 types of curry? There were more than that! The curry was served separately. I wasn't sure how to eat it all! I ended up eating the curry with rice in a soup curry style, using chopsticks to have the side dishes in between. The creamy roux curry was delicious! The roux was really tasty, thank you, waitress! The side dishes were also delicious. The grilled vegetables were sweet and tasty. The asparagus wrapped in spring rolls was so good. The scallop was big and the meat was tender. The yellow sauce on the meat was mustard. The sauerkraut was refreshing. The red and yellow sauces were mango and berry flavored, fruity! I was surprised and very satisfied with the unexpectedly fancy food. The elderly customer at the restaurant even commented, "That was a fancy curry," before leaving, which left an impression on me.笑

Next to Otaru and Kajitsu-san along Route 5, a curry restaurant has opened! It used to be a ramen shop called "Koichiro" before. I went to check it out. I arrived shortly after the opening time. The exterior of the building looks old, but the interior has a stylish feel to it. The menu includes items listed on the menu board as well as recommended dishes on the wall. I remember the wall menu when I went had chicken curry and pork cutlet curry. I ordered the slow-cooked domestic pork curry (1350 yen) and later realized that I could have added a three-item assortment for an extra 50 yen. Oh well. It seems to be the same as the curry from "Niku-ya no Curry" in Nishi Ward, Sapporo, as all the menu items are meat curries. The presentation of the dish when it arrived was very elegant and beautiful. How should I eat this...? I ate the ingredients as they were and dipped the rice in the curry sauce one spoonful at a time. Was that the right way? The curry tasted a bit blurry when I had it at Niku-ya before, but this time it felt more refined and delicious, with everything blending together perfectly. The main dish of braised pork, pickles, salad, everything was great. A drink was included, and without asking, I was served oolong tea. Can I not choose my own drink? It's nice to have a rare curry restaurant in Otaru. I'll definitely go back. Thank you for the meal!

In February 2023, I visited a newly opened curry restaurant called "Kari Kobo" along the national highway in Asari. The place used to be a sushi restaurant and a ramen shop. During lunchtime, they serve a drink (limited to oolong tea) and salad as a service, but I accidentally ordered cola and still got the service (laughs). In the kitchen, there were two veteran male chefs and one other male staff, while the front of the house was managed by a young female staff. The curry that arrived had a stylish presentation, almost like dining in a resort. The spiciness level couldn't be chosen, but it had a decent amount of spice with a mild heat, and a pleasant sweetness from the onions. The curry was easy to eat with a slightly runny consistency, but quite delicious. The braised pork had a light seasoning and overall, including the side dishes and salad, everything came together nicely. The rice was a bit soft by chance, but personally, I was quite satisfied. I had a chat with the chef after finishing the meal, and he mentioned that he used to run a curry restaurant called "Niku-ya no Curry" in the Nishi Ward of Sapporo, which I believe was featured on a TV show with Takatoshi. When I crave for a unique curry that I can't have at home, I would definitely want to come back here, as Otaru only has "Cocoichi" as a dedicated curry shop that comes to mind.
