When I became aware of things, I feel like this long-established kushikatsu restaurant was already here. The first drinking party of my seminar right after entering university was also held here. When I looked it up, it was founded in the Showa era (around 1955), before I was even born. Well, I casually walked in without a reservation to this place that I haven't been to in a while, and I'm glad to see that it has become a non-smoking establishment. As expected from a popular long-standing restaurant, it was almost full, and the nostalgic Showa-era interior had a charming atmosphere. I ordered a highball (420 yen incl. tax) and the "Potato Salad (470 yen incl. tax)." It's hard to call this place a "cheap drinking spot" with these prices, but the presentation was cute with crunchy cucumbers, tomatoes, shredded cabbage, and a mayo-heavy potato salad that was a bit mushy. The "Pickled Chinese Cabbage (410 yen incl. tax)" was the usual standard item. The "Shrimp Skewer (1 piece, 230 yen incl. tax)"... I think it's the first time I've seen a shrimp skewered in a round shape like that, isn't it because of the material they're using?? I won't say more, but... The "Kushikatsu (1 piece, 210 yen incl. tax)" was crispy and hot, with a good texture and crunchiness, and the addition of spicy mustard was a nice touch. I poured some sauce over it, but the taste and texture revealed a strong presence of fatty meat inside, and when I removed the coating, I saw thinly sliced pork belly in a mille-feuille style. Is this okay?? Nowadays, there are many restaurants that serve kushikatsu very well, like Kushikatsu Tanaka or Ebisu Shokudo, in the midst of this, right? As a long-established restaurant, you want to say, "Yep, this is the place." Thank you for the meal.
