"First Visit in May 2023"
Located in the Numano End area of Tomakomai City, this is an Indian-Nepalese curry restaurant. This place used to be a ramen shop, but after it closed down and remained vacant for a while, this new restaurant appeared out of nowhere.
This time, I visited right after the opening and decided to try the "Nepal Set" from the lunch menu. The "Nepal Set" includes two types of curry - Keema curry and Chicken Spinach curry, both served with naan and rice. Additionally, it comes with salad, Nepalese pickles, and a drink. I chose a medium-spicy curry and a lassi drink. This set is the most affordable option on the lunch menu, priced at 990 yen, just under 1000 yen. The fact that you get both naan and rice, and both are all-you-can-eat, adds a great value to the menu. Even though you can't choose the curry types, having two different curries included makes it a must-try at this restaurant.
The naan had a slightly thicker and denser texture compared to other curry restaurants, but it was still good. Personally, I prefer a lighter naan. The curry could have been a bit spicier for a medium level, as I usually go for level 2 spiciness at other curry places like Coco Ichibanya. Indian curry restaurants always offer great value in their lunch menus, but ordering side dishes separately can add up to a hefty bill.
The interior layout remains the same as when it was a ramen shop, with a partition between the counter seats and the kitchen, creating a calm atmosphere even at the counter seats. There are table seats on the right side of the entrance, and a raised seating area on the left side, making it convenient for families with children. The owners, who appear to be of East Asian descent, provide smooth customer service with decent hospitality. I look forward to trying out other menu items when I have the chance."

In this area, even though it's in the same city, I don't usually go there so I didn't know about it for a long time. The shop is new and both the interior and exterior are clean. Now, let's look at the menu. Huh? It looks quite similar to that Nepalese curry restaurant I often go to (DI◯◯). Is it a sister store? The woman who served us was good at Japanese and very polite.
- Cheese Naan Set (Shrimp and spinach paste, medium spicy, iced coffee)
- Shish Kebab
I think the cheese naan's volume, taste, appearance, serving time, etc. are better at the Nepalese curry restaurant I often go to (DI◯◯) (^^;;

I ordered the cheese naan set. The salad dressing was really delicious! Dipping the cheese naan in the curry was the best. I ordered the medium spicy level 2, but it was a bit spicier than expected. The staff at the restaurant were also really nice!

I visited the restaurant for the first time around 2 o'clock on Sunday. The female staff member greeted me in fluent Japanese, which left a good impression. The curry was very delicious. The naan was soft with a light color, making it easy to eat. The staff member kindly asked, "How is it?" during the meal. I replied in broken Japanese, "It's delicious," with a smile. The food was delicious and very good, but the restaurant was a bit chilly, which was a bit disappointing. The interior was much simpler compared to other curry restaurants, so I thought it would be better to have more decorations to create a better atmosphere. However, since the food was delicious, everything was good.

I suddenly noticed a new restaurant had opened called "Himalaya Dining." It's an Indian and Nepalese cuisine restaurant that specializes in curries. I decided to try their lunch menu, which had some good set options, but I ended up ordering a single dish instead. I chose the "Shrimp and Spinach Curry" for 1060 yen, slightly over my 1000 yen budget. You can choose between naan and rice, as well as the level of spiciness ranging from 1 to 4. Naan and rice come with free refills, which was a nice surprise. I ordered naan and selected the highest spice level, "extra spicy," feeling a bit unsure if I could handle it. The dish arrived promptly, accompanied by a salad. The naan was large and delicious, with a perfect balance of chewiness and sweetness. The shrimp and spinach curry had a rich flavor and the shrimp was tender. The spiciness was just right for me. I'll have to try getting a refill on naan next time. Another satisfying meal.

A newly opened Nepalese curry restaurant.
Chicken & Vegetable Soup Curry (with salad) for 990 yen. It's a type of soup that is commonly found, with Nepalese spices added to a spicy chicken broth. It's not very spicy even though it's labeled as "level 5 spicy". The chicken is tough and bland, and the vegetables are not cooked enough. The final blow is that the soup is lukewarm. Nepalese-style soup curries often tend to be similar, and if the ingredients are not given enough attention, it shows in the soup. However, there are also delicious Nepalese-style soups out there, so maybe this one falls short. The plain white rice also lacks character. The price is reasonable though. Next time, I'll try the traditional paste-based curry.

I could tell from the name Himalaya Dining that it was a Nepalese restaurant. The restaurant does not have a website, and there are only a few scattered locations with the same name. I visited this restaurant for lunch before going to the reopened movie theater at AEON Tomakomai store. The restaurant has a spacious parking lot and a relatively large building with counter seats and tatami on the left, and counter seats and table seats on the right. I ordered the spinach-based mutton curry, which my wife had found immediately. The curry looked fresh with brown color and green floating. The curry had a hint of ginger and the spice gradually spread. I ordered the medium spicy level, but it was more like mild spicy at other places, which was just right for me. The naan was like a puffy bread that can be torn open. I added another naan as I was not full yet. The naan was very hot and had a texture like steamed bread. The staff was fluent in Japanese and seemed to be born in Japan. There were two male chefs in the kitchen. I wish them continued prosperity.

This seems to be the successor of Ramen DOMON. The parking lot is spacious and easy to use. Visited at 11:30, sat at the counter seat with Nepalese music playing in the background. Ordered the Chicken Vegetable Medium Spicy Soup Curry with rice. It was ready in about 10 minutes, let's see how it tastes! The chicken is not tender and lacks flavor. The rice is mushy and the soup is thin. Congratulations on the opening! Chicken Vegetable Medium Spicy Soup Curry 990 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I went to a new Nepalese, Indian, and soup curry restaurant that opened in Tomakomai. They offer four types of soup curry with a tomato base. They also have three types of paste curry: onion paste, tomato paste, and spinach paste. Each curry dish comes with rice or plain naan at a set price. They have various set menus available, including a children's curry option. I tried the Cheese Naan Set for 1290 yen, which includes cheese naan, salad, and chicken tikka. You can choose your favorite paste curry to go with it. I ordered the Chicken Cheese Curry and Eggplant Keema Curry. The garlic naan caught my eye as well. The cheese naan was served pre-cut with plenty of melted cheese. The curry was tasty and filling, but since I'm not a big fan of curry in general, I didn't feel completely satisfied for the price. Thank you for the meal.

Authentic curry and naan made by a Nepalese chef with 10 years of experience. The cheese naan is a must-try, as the cheese melts perfectly and is addictive for cheese lovers. You can enjoy unlimited refills of plain naan, and adjust the spiciness of the curry to your liking. They also offer soup curry as an option. The tandoori chicken that comes with the set is amazing!

I ordered the cheese naan set. I'm happy that this restaurant allows you to choose your favorite flavor even in a set.
