I finally visited the popular restaurant "Zubora" that I've been curious about for a while. Even though it's very close to my workplace, I never had the chance to go until now. The place was crowded, and I decided to try their curry rice for 600 yen. The curry was delicious and reminded me of the nostalgic taste of beef curry. I love eating curry at cafes, it always tastes so good. Next time, I think I'll try their sashimi set meal available only on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Just a heads up, they only accept cash for payment. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the café across from the Boston Bake shop in front of the Chuo Ward office to try the 550 yen ginger pork bowl that was listed on the outdoor menu. The regular lunch sets are priced between 750 yen and 800 yen, but the ginger pork bowl and curry rice or toast set is only 550 yen. The café allows smoking inside. When I visited around 2 pm, there were no other customers and no smoke. The ginger pork bowl came with miso soup and was well-prepared with a generous amount of meat carefully cooked. Underneath the thickly laid meat were shredded cabbage and rice. The style is similar to the pork bowl shop Kinchan nearby, but this one is ginger pork. The portion of rice may be slightly smaller compared to the meat, but for 550 yen, it was satisfying.

From early morning, I headed to Nishi 11-chome. It takes over an hour by car from my house during snowy days, so I rushed out without breakfast and my stomach was growling! I arrived at this place, which opens at 8 am, at 8:10 am and there were already two customers inside. I sat in the back in a non-smoking section, but there was no partition so it was a bit smoky. Well, nothing I can do about it. For breakfast, they offered two options: bread or rice. I was tempted by the rice, which came with miso soup, but coffee was not included so I opted for the bread (toast) instead. After a 7-minute wait, it was served. The coffee had a mild bitterness and strong acidity, a bit light but just right for me. The salad consisted of lettuce, mizuna, sliced onions, and half a cherry tomato, with sesame dressing. It was fresh and delicious. The bacon and egg, served with soft-boiled toast, was also tasty. The lunch menu starts at 11 am, and until 5 pm, you can help yourself to one cup of hot coffee. I look forward to visiting during lunchtime next time! Thank you, "Zubora"!

From 8:00 to 10:00, they offer a morning menu. Lunch starts at 11:00. They have a daily special set meal for 750 yen, today's special is tonkatsu. Other options include pork loin ginger stir-fry set for 800 yen, vegetable stir-fry set for 800 yen, salt-grilled mackerel set for 800 yen, miso mackerel set for 800 yen, grilled dried fish set for 800 yen, and sashimi set for 1,200 yen (limited to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays). They also offer a complimentary cup of hot coffee after the meal. I ordered the miso mackerel set, which was served in a bento box. The miso mackerel was half a fish with a strong ginger flavor. The meal also included salad, seaweed and cucumber vinegar salad, simmered pumpkin, pickled Chinese cabbage, and pickled daikon. The miso soup had seaweed and tofu, and the freshly cooked rice was delicious.

On a regular weekday morning, I found myself with some free time in the central area. I went to a place called "Zubora" near Nishi 11-chome Subway Station around 9 o'clock. There were two groups of customers, two people each. The place had seating for 4 people at 2 tables, and seating for 2 people at 4 tables, as well as a counter with 6 seats. There was also a spacious area beyond the door at the back, but the lights were off so I couldn't see the details. I sat at the counter and ordered breakfast, which had two options: "Toast Set (toast, mini salad, hot coffee)" and "Morning Set Meal (rice, miso soup, grilled fish)" for 450 yen each (tax included). The food was served 10 minutes later, and it was more fulfilling than I expected. The toast was probably from "Okameya", thickly sliced and soft, perfectly grilled to bring out the best of Okameya's quality. The salad consisted of sunny lettuce, onions, and cherry tomatoes with a mustard-flavored French dressing. The bacon and eggs were perfectly cooked, with the edges of the egg white crispy and the sunny-side-up just right. The coffee, although brewed in advance, had a surprisingly good taste for the price. Despite the name "Zubora" (which means lazy), there was no sign of cutting corners in this breakfast, and I left fully satisfied. The interior of the restaurant allows smoking except for the counter area, which may be a concern for some due to smoking regulations. Overall, it was a place that left a subtle impression on me.

On a certain weekday, during a still challenging period in Hokkaido, I took a walk from Maruyama Koen Station area and stopped by a cafe located at Minami 1-jo Nishi 10-chome in Chuo Ward. The cafe has a large sign from the outside, which always caught my attention. The interior of the cafe is spacious, with a counter and table seats typical of a coffee shop. The counter area is non-smoking, but the area behind it allows smoking, so I had to move to a different seat. The background music playing was old Western music. I decided to order an "Iced Coffee (450 yen)" since I had already stopped at several places during my walk and couldn't eat anymore. Taking a sip, the iced coffee in a long glass was slightly bitter with a fresh taste, and adding some sugar syrup made it just right. Personally, I think it would also taste good if you add some water to dilute it a bit. Looking at the menu, the lunch options seemed appealing. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at noon on a regular day. One group of customers with two people were already there, and more kept coming. Located 1 minute walk from the 3rd exit of Nishi 11th Street subway station, on the 1st floor of the building at the corner after crossing the signal. It's easy for office workers to consume high-calorie meals during lunchtime... Amidst that, this place serves fish-based set meals. It's technically a cafe, but (laughs) it has a high number of middle-aged men. There are also a few women who seem like office workers. Ordered the "Daily Chef's Special Set Meal" (750 yen). Today's special was Shimahokke. It arrived in about 3 minutes, so fast! The hokke had a nice amount of fat and was delicious! Enjoyed it with grated soy sauce. The side dishes were curry-flavored nikujaga, stir-fried spinach and bamboo shoots, and Umeboshi-flavored long yam, a total of 3 dishes. The salad had lettuce, tomato, corn, and broccoli, which was satisfying. It was topped with Thousand Island dressing. Coffee was served as a complimentary drink (self-service), but I forgot to drink it (laughs). It was a satisfyingly delicious meal. Sometimes you just have to eat fish! But next time, I'll go for the "Curry Rice" (laughs).

I visited a cafe near West 11th Street that I had been curious about for a while. I went there to pass the time after having lunch. There were about 6 other customers, some seemed to be having a late lunch or maybe playing hooky from work? I ordered a 400 yen coffee. I'm not playing hooky, just killing time! The menu seemed to attract people coming in for lunch. The coffee arrived, not very aromatic. It was a bit bitter, just your average coffee. It had a nostalgic feel, like an old-school Doutor cafe. It was a cozy and comfortable cafe, I unexpectedly enjoyed it! Thank you for the meal!

Located on the first floor of a building near the intersection of Ishiyama Street and Namboku Dori, near the Subway Nishi 11-chome Station area. I visited this place for the first time during lunchtime, as I pass by the building on my commute and was curious about it. The interior has a nostalgic coffee shop atmosphere, with counter seats and table seats, although it's not very spacious. There were various daily specials and regular set meal options, and I chose the "Grilled Salted Mackerel Set Meal (770 yen)". Other options included curry, toast, and ginger pork bowl. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, served in a lunch box-like container. Both the main fish dish and the side dishes were delicious, but the miso soup was particularly tasty, with a flavor similar to a clear soup. Even though coffee was included, I felt the portion was a bit small for the price, but I would like to try something else, so I would consider revisiting if I have the chance.

I recently discovered that there are restaurants like this, so I decided to go for lunch. They offered a daily special bento box, which was sukiyaki that day. I didn't notice any issues with the customer service mentioned in other reviews. The menu outside and the coffee service were clearly defined, which was good. What caught my attention was that they used the same teacups for both coffee and tea. It's rare to see teacups being used for coffee!

When it gets hot, the symptoms worsen, it is a designated rare disease by the government. Unfortunately, there is still no medication that suits me. This review is based on my condition and consultation. Likes and comments may be delayed, thank you for your understanding. [October 2019] Memoirs Series Visit was in December 2015. Due to hospitalization, I took a break from posting on food review websites for nearly four years until my return last year. This visit took place during the break period. When in the hospital, you start craving for eating out once you are discharged. The thousands of photos are mostly unorganized. Since I did not plan to return as a reviewer, many photos have unreadable restaurant names. It's difficult to organize them, so I'm not very motivated to do so (laughs). "Zubora" is one of the few places where the name of the restaurant is recognizable. "Zubora" is a cafe with reasonably priced set meals. They offer a variety of "grilled fish" and "simmered fish" in their "fish set meals." I visited for lunch with my usual companion. This restaurant is located in the Odori area of central Sapporo, on the basement floor of a building along Ishiyama Street. For the exact location of the restaurant, please check on food review websites. The visit was on a weekday, just before 1 pm. Lunchtime is from 10 am to 5 pm. They offer a complimentary self-serve coffee. I ordered the "Miso-Simmered Mackerel Set Meal," and my companion ordered the "Daily Chef's Choice Set Meal - Grilled Salted Mackerel." Our set meals arrived after a 7-minute wait. The set meals were served in a Makunouchi bento box style. ■ Lunch Miso-Simmered Mackerel Set Meal Half a large-sized mackerel simmered in miso, easy to eat with just the right seasoning Mini Salad A step above the usual salad in lunch sets. Ingredients include block lettuce, mizuna, corn, tomato, purple onion, paprika, nagaimo yam, grated yam. Lightly seasoned and enjoyable as it is, with a healthy taste. Simmered Dish Chinese cabbage and squid simmered in a gentle salt-based seasoning Side Dish Udo flower pickles, pickled radish slices Miso Soup Miso soup with trefoil, seared tofu, wakame Rice Hot Coffee Lunchtime service. Self-serve, one cup Price: 770 yen (tax included) ■ Lunch Daily Chef's Choice Set Meal - Grilled Salted Mackerel Grilled salted mackerel with a freshly grilled taste Mini Salad Side Dish Pickled nagaimo yam and tarako (cod roe) Side Dish Konjac and cod roe salad Pickles Miso Soup Rice Hot Coffee Price: 720 yen (tax included) The "fish set meals" are reasonably priced Makunouchi bento boxes. Most menu items are priced at 770 yen, with the highest being 870 yen. It's great that they offer a variety of dishes in the Makunouchi bento style. It's also nice that lunchtime is long (laughs). Next time, I might try the "Nukamiso Herring Grilled Set Meal for 770 yen." It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

A bit early for dinner (lol). Sapporo, 2 minutes' walk from Sapporo Subway Tozai Line Nishi 11-chome Station. A big fan of the fish set meal here. Welcome! Ordered the salmon set meal. There were only a few salarymen. The salmon set meal arrived. Munch munch, slurp slurp. Oh! This is it! Delicious! The thick and fatty meat (lol). Tied for first place with the izakaya Hamamatsu. Number one in my life (lol). Finished in no time. Thank you for the meal. I'll be back again.

It is located right next to Nishi 11-chome Station. The window glass has "Zubora" written on it in big letters. I was drawn to the name and decided to visit. The set meal is in a bento box style. It has a homely taste and is delicious. It was the type of restaurant I like. Thank you for the meal!

On March 23, 2016 (Wednesday) from 1:30 pm, located on the corner of Minami 1 Jonishi 10-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. It is on the intersection of Minami 1 Jonishi and Ishiyama streets, right in front of the streetcar stop for Chuo Ward Office. The entrance to the building is on both the streetcar side and Ishiyama street side, with menu signs displayed. The restaurant operates continuously from lunchtime until 8 pm, with a cozy cafe and dining atmosphere inside. There are counter seats and tables in front of the kitchen, with about half of the restaurant designated as smoking area facing the streetcar street. The other half is non-smoking. Despite being after lunchtime, there was still some smoking happening, especially by older ladies and solo male customers. There is a separate area at the back of the restaurant with a sign saying non-smoking until 2 pm. Upon entering, I was directed to the smoking area but noticed non-smoking signs on the tables, so I chose to sit there. The daily special set meal was priced at 720 yen, featuring mackerel miso as the main dish. The side dishes seemed to vary daily, and I was served in a bento box. I also ordered a side of natto, and the staff kindly asked if I wanted it with the meal or later. The set meal included salad, boiled cabbage, grated yam with plum, and meat and potatoes. The mackerel miso was cooked with white miso and had a balanced seasoning with grated ginger on top. The meat and potatoes were served cold, possibly refrigerated. Despite appearing small in portion, I found the meal satisfying. It came with miso soup with seaweed. Customers who ordered the daily special set meal were offered a complimentary cup of coffee, self-serve with cups provided. The coffee service is available from 10 am to 5 pm, which is a nice touch for those who missed lunch or need a pick-me-up.

Around 1 pm in the afternoon, I decided to enter a restaurant that seemed empty after the salarymen had left. The name of the restaurant was intriguing, and the meaning became clear only after eating there. Some people may find it charming, while others may not. I fell into the latter category. Upon entering, the greeting was casual, and I was directed to the smoking section as it was crowded. I ordered the ginger pork bowl and was impressed by the quick service. The dish was simple yet delicious, with a hint of ginger and a nice aroma of grilled meat. The miso soup, however, lacked ingredients and flavor. As I ate, I noticed the owner and his wife eating together, which added to the cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the rice was sticky and almost turned into porridge, which was disappointing. When I went to get the self-service condiments, I was informed that they were not included with the bowl, which should have been mentioned earlier. Overall, the experience was a bit mixed, but the restaurant's name was spot on in reflecting my feelings towards it.

I had lunch at a retro coffee shop at the intersection of Nishi 11-chome in Sapporo city. I had an appointment nearby in the afternoon, so I was walking around looking for a place to eat. As I passed by this coffee shop that I had been hesitating to try, the lunch special of mackerel miso set caught my eye! It was almost 1 o'clock and the inside of the shop was mostly filled with office workers finishing their meals and heading back to work. I ordered the ginger pork set for 780 yen. The small table in the corner seemed like a prime spot for a solo diner like me. Unfortunately, the mackerel miso was sold out, so I went with the ginger pork set instead. The kitchen staff quickly got to work preparing my meal. While waiting, I passed the time reading a monthly magazine. When my meal arrived, I opened the lid to reveal a bento box and miso soup. The meal consisted mostly of rice and ginger pork, but there were also side dishes like simmered hijiki seaweed, pickles, and cabbage. The ginger pork was tasty and the meal was satisfying. I enjoyed the complimentary coffee at the back of the shop before leaving. Overall, it was a good and fulfilling lunch experience at this old-fashioned coffee shop.

I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant located in front of the tram stop at Nishi 11-chome. I've always been curious about the name of this place. I had lunch with my colleague. The daily bento box comes with rice, grilled salmon, simmered dishes, and side dishes, all homemade. It costs 650 yen and includes coffee. The self-serve coffee is decent, and it's nice to have a cup after the meal. I really like the retro vibe of this place, it feels like a Showa-era coffee shop. I wonder why there aren't many reviews from food bloggers for these kinds of cool places.
