This month's fifth food adventure was at "Yasashii Curry", where I tried their weekend special curry "Katsu Curry" for lunch. The restaurant's signboard mentioned "Curry x Japanese side dishes"... Japanese side dishes with curry? The curry base using Japanese dashi was a unique experience. The main menu offers three types of curry - chicken, beef, and lamb, each with a different base. Additionally, there is a monthly special and a value-packed "Mini Curry Set" featuring fried chicken, pork cutlet, and hamburg steak. The weekend special curry also includes katsu, hamburg, and fried chicken options, as well as soup curry. I chose the Katsu Curry from the special menu, opting for the spicy level "spicy" (out of sweet, mild, spicy, very spicy for an additional fee), and added a seasoned boiled egg as a topping. I also ordered an iced coffee. While waiting for my order, I read a story written by the owner about the concept of "Curry x Japanese side dishes", which showcased their passion and dedication to curry. After a 20-minute wait, a generous 150g pork cutlet atop the curry was served, accompanied by homemade fukujinzuke. The curry roux was rich in acidity, sweetness from onions, and umami, with a subtle spiciness. The cutlet had a crispy coating, juicy and tender inside. The seasoned boiled egg was indeed a highlight with its perfect texture. The homemade fukujinzuke had a gentle flavor. The Japanese side dishes of cucumber, carrot, daikon radish, and onions complemented the curry well. Overall, I discovered a great restaurant that opened in February this year, located behind The Big Express Hiragishi store. The cozy interior had 6 counter seats, 2 table seats, and possibly 1 raised seating area (not confirmed). There is no dedicated parking, so I parked at a nearby coin parking lot.
