I thought it would definitely be crowded, but I went to Otaru during the Snow Light Path Festival with a friend who wanted to eat seafood donburi. We headed to Takinami Shokudo, a place I had always wanted to visit. It is located in the Triangle Market right near Otaru Station, making it easy to get to. As expected, it was crowded (haha). However, they took our order in advance and called out our names, so we didn't have to wait long and were able to enter the restaurant smoothly. When we sat down, they served us a dried delicacy of shellfish as an appetizer. They told us to enjoy it while waiting for our donburi to arrive – how thoughtful! It was delicious ❤️ I really appreciate this kind of consideration! The donburi arrived quickly! I chose the "selfish donburi" where you can choose the toppings. You can choose 3 toppings, and I selected the small size with less rice (comes with miso soup) for 1500 yen! Such a good deal! When I looked at it, there were plenty of toppings – salmon roe, crab, and sea urchin! So generous! This is a great deal. When I tasted it, I was even more impressed! It was delicious! The crab was not the usual bland kind, but sweet and flavorful. The sea urchin was sweet and had no strange taste or smell. The salmon roe was creamy and not too strong in flavor. The rice was vinegared and plentiful! I was so full! (haha) The miso soup was made with seaweed, but I could taste the crab broth. It was delicious! I was satisfied with everything I ate ❤️ I also ordered some scallop sashimi, which was sweet, had a good texture, and was fresh. Everything I ate was satisfying.

This might be the busiest shop in the Sankaku Market. I visited around 3 PM on Saturday, told them my name, and came back 40 minutes later. I finally got my seat and my seafood bowl at 4 PM. I ordered a seafood bowl where you can choose your favorite 4 kinds of seafood. I chose salmon, crab, tuna, and salmon roe. The portion was so huge that you couldn't tell from the picture. The sashimi and crab meat just kept coming out from the bottom... it was a huge serving! In the past, the Tsukiji Outer Market used to serve overpriced seafood bowls with poor quality sashimi for tourists. I didn't have good memories of seafood bowls in bustling markets, maybe because of that. But this restaurant in the north completely changed my perception. The tuna was natural and fresh, the salmon and salmon roe were delicious, and the crab was surprisingly flavorful and tasty. I hadn't eaten such delicious crab in a long time. I was amazed at how tasty the crab was! I wanted to eat delicious food on my Hokkaido trip, and waiting in line here was definitely the right choice. This, this is the freshness I wanted to taste! It was a completely satisfying seafood bowl experience!

I had a seafood bowl at the Sankaku Market in Otaru. I visited around 10 am on a weekday and had to wait for 30 minutes. It was very busy. I chose bluefin tuna, sea urchin, and salmon roe for my seafood bowl. The visual presentation was impressive. The bluefin tuna had a strong and delicious flavor. The sea urchin melted in my mouth without being too salty. The salmon roe was plump and made my mouth happy. I was really impressed by the overall presentation. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I'm going to eat seafood! I lined up early in the morning as planned, and sure enough, there were lots of people lining up since morning. You can choose from 3 or 4 seafood dishes, but the more I looked at the menu, the more my desire increased, and I wanted 5 or more dishes... It might be a good idea to adjust by choosing items like sashimi. You can reduce the amount of rice, but even with a small amount, the bowl is packed full of rice, so there is quite a lot of food.

I came to Otaru! At the popular shops in the Sankaku Market! I arrived before 11 am on a weekday and there were about 10 groups waiting in front of me, but the turnover was fast and surprisingly I was able to get in quickly. The donburi was smaller than I imagined, so I was able to eat deliciously without feeling too full. The sashimi was all fresh and delicious as expected.

I went to Otaru Station to eat the famous seafood bowl! I arrived at Otaru Station around 10 o'clock on a weekday. The train was full of foreign and Japanese tourists. I thought it would be a battle for the coin lockers! I dashed to the coin lockers from the station. Five years ago when I came to Otaru, it wasn't like this at all. I was able to safely store my luggage and headed to Takinami Shokudo! There were already many people waiting, so I wrote my name on the waiting list. When I asked the staff how long the wait would be, they said about an hour, so I strolled around sightseeing while waiting. It was reassuring to know that I wouldn't lose my spot even if my name wasn't called. I chose the seafood bowl with four options for 2,980 yen, and added sea urchin for an extra 330 yen. I opted for regular rice. I also ordered a Sapporo Classic beer and got a free crab soup with a coupon. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the seafood bowl arrived! It was incredibly delicious! The amount of rice was quite generous, so I was satisfied with a full stomach!

The menu has a lot of options, and it's appealing because you can create your own bowl to your liking. Everything was really delicious! We went right when it opened and had to wait about 30 minutes. About an hour later, there was a huge line.

I visited Takinami Shokudo. It is a popular restaurant located in the Sankaku Market near Otaru Station. I was torn between this restaurant and other shops in the market, but based on the reviews and ratings, I chose Takinami Shokudo. I arrived in Otaru for my trip and visited around 6:00 PM, but they were already closed for dinner service. So, the next morning, I skipped the hotel breakfast and arrived at the restaurant around 8:00 AM, as they opened at 7:30 AM. There was only one available table when I arrived, showing how busy the restaurant is. Their specialty is the "Wagamama Don" (selfish bowl), so I ordered the regular size with 4 toppings (2970 yen) - ikura, crab, bluefin tuna, and sea urchin. I also added a crab miso soup for an extra 330 yen. I also couldn't resist ordering the tobiko for 550 yen and scallop grill for 330 yen. The freshness of all the toppings was excellent, especially the sea urchin was creamy and delicious. However, the tobiko was quite salty. Even though it was a normal portion, the meal was very filling. The service was average, but with such delicious food, it didn't bother me at all. I highly recommend this place for those who want to enjoy fresh seafood bowls, seafood dishes, breakfast, or lunch in Otaru. It seems to get quite busy depending on the season and time of day, so I recommend arriving with some extra time to spare.

I wrote my name around 1:00 PM and there were about 30 groups ahead of me. After waiting for about an hour and a half while exploring the area, I was finally able to get inside. The prices for the seafood bowls were slightly cheaper compared to other shops, and I ordered a bowl where you can choose 3 types of seafood (2400 yen + 330 yen for sea urchin). The sea urchin was incredibly delicious. The crab soup was also amazing. I will definitely come back here next time.

On the second day of my trip to Hokkaido, I visited this restaurant for breakfast in Otaru. The main purpose of coming to Otaru was to buy glassware, but after researching breakfast options, I decided to visit here based on high ratings. It was a weekday morning at 8 am, and there were about 10 groups waiting. We were seated after about 30 minutes, and we were able to place our order while waiting in line. One of the perks of traveling is having morning beer, which was delicious. Since I had eaten a lot of sashimi the night before, I ordered the silver cod set meal, while my wife ordered the small mixed seafood bowl with tuna, sea urchin, and scallops. I didn't have high expectations for the food, thinking it might be geared towards tourists, but the silver cod was surprisingly delicious. It was fatty and the meat was tender, cooked perfectly. The rice, miso soup, and side dishes like salmon with green onion and tuna were all delicious, making it the best breakfast. My wife's mixed seafood bowl had sea urchin as the top choice, followed by scallops and tuna. I tried a piece of the tuna, which was a bit watery. However, despite not usually eating breakfast, I was able to eat so much thanks to the power of alcohol.

Around 4:00 PM, when I went to check, there was a huge line as expected... I wrote my name down and waited. While waiting, I looked around and could leave the spot, so I could pass the time. I ordered the "San-Shoku Don" and the unique Eight-Angle sashimi that can only be eaten here! During the wait, I bought lots of souvenirs at the adjacent shop, so they gave me a free salmon! The donburi comes with miso soup, but you can add crab soup for an additional charge. When I asked the staff, they said that there is always a line from opening to closing every day. Even so, the staff were friendly and provided great service. The Eight-Angle fish is a rare fish. The sashimi was delicious, with a light yet fatty taste, similar to Engawa!

Visited during the Obon period. Arrived at exactly 12 o'clock noon, as expected, there was a long line. Signed my name in the register, waited for about 5 minutes, then received the menu and placed my order. While waiting, I checked the progress of the register from time to time, and at 13:40, I was seated. Had a Sapporo Classic (bottle), Kitano Homare (cold sake), Wagamama Donburi (salmon roe, botan shrimp, purple sea urchin), octopus sashimi, female shishamo, and a pack of Bafun sea urchin. Everything was exquisite. No regrets in Otaru.

During the Obon holiday, I went to the restaurant at 11:50 and had to wait until 13:30 to be seated, which took over an hour and a half. However, I was able to write my name and wait outside, so I didn't mind waiting too much. And the food was so delicious that it was worth the wait! First, I had the octopus sashimi, which was incredibly tasty with a rich flavor and a satisfying texture, like a combination of squid and yellowtail. It was truly impressive. Next, I had the seafood bowl (with 4 kinds of shrimp, salmon roe, sea urchin, and crab), which was generously filled with ingredients and made me feel so happy. The crab soup (additional 330 yen) had plenty of crab meat and even came with a crab fork, providing a satisfying meal. I highly recommend upgrading to the crab soup. This restaurant made me want to visit again when I come back to Otaru. ^_^

I started lining up around 8:50 a.m. and was able to eat before 9 a.m. I ordered the Selfish Bowl (uni, ikura, crab) in a regular size with a crab soup upgrade (+330 yen). It was impressive and delicious, but honestly, I thought the sushi I had at a 12,000 yen per person sushi restaurant the night before was better. I got the order of visits wrong, but in terms of cost performance, I think it's very good. I was told by a rickshaw driver the day before that it's better to go in the morning because the wait time is ridiculous at lunchtime. I highly recommend upgrading to the crab soup.

The seafood was delicious as it was famous for, so we decided to try it! It was incredibly tasty. The sashimi was thickly sliced, and I thought it was completely different from sushi restaurants in Tokyo. The crab miso soup also had a crab broth that was really delicious. The oysters were also amazing!!!! (I felt like I waited about 15 minutes from ordering to being served.) I would recommend this restaurant if you are going on a trip to Hokkaido♪

It was more like early morning than midday. I went to the seafood company's direct store, which opens at 7:30. I arrived about 10 minutes early, but it was already full and I had to wait. I chose the three-item special donburi with homemade salmon roe, sea urchin, and botan shrimp. The content would likely cost over 5,000 yen at the morning market in Hakodate, but it was 2,750 yen here (2,420 yen + 330 yen for sea urchin). I also changed the miso soup to crab soup for an additional 300 yen. If you visit Otaru, I recommend going here for breakfast instead of choosing the hotel breakfast.

Before heading to Asahikawa, I decided to have lunch in Otaru and came to this place. We arrived at 10:45, but finished eating by 12:15. There was a long line. The scallops were lukewarm, the crab flakes seemed pre-made, and there was only a little bit of salmon roe. The grilled salmon that we ordered separately was delicious. The seafood bowl with three kinds of seafood cost 2420 yen, and the grilled salmon was 550 yen, totaling 2970 yen. It seems that there are no good restaurants in busy tourist areas after all.

We waited for about an hour for lunch and enjoyed a seafood feast at Takinami Shokudo in Sankaku Market. We bought the seasonal Hanasaki crab for 6000 yen and ate crab until we were full with our family. We chose a bowl with fresh sea urchin, tuna, salmon roe, and salmon negitoro. I have been here before during lunchtime. It was extremely crowded, and I had to wait for over an hour in the waiting area outside. Even though they said I could leave and come back later, I didn't have confidence that I would be able to do so. The place was quite hot and humid in the summer, even though there were fans. You choose 3 or 4 dishes (with varying prices) and select your favorite ingredients. The ikura was delicious this time, but the uni was watery and didn't taste good. I would like to try a different restaurant next time.

The restaurant is famous for its donburi, but this time we decided to try individual dishes. The sea urchin was rich and delicious, and we also enjoyed grilled oysters, assorted sashimi, grilled mackerel, grilled belly, and crab soup. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
