I parked my car in the underground parking lot and was heading to the front when I saw a curtain hanging in the middle of the aisle with a sign saying they were open for lunch. I checked on Tabelog and saw that their tempura bowl looked delicious. So, I decided to have an Ebi Tendon for 1,100 yen. It arrived in about 5 minutes, and the portion was just right for my stomach. I feel energized for the training session in the afternoon.

I visited the restaurant to eat tempura rice bowl, but ended up ordering the "Daily Special Set" which had "Miso Simmered Mackerel" written on it. Once I saw it, I was completely in "Miso Simmered Mackerel" mode. Although the portion was not that big, the strong impact of ginger made it really delicious. The rice went down smoothly. I got full and fell asleep instantly when I got on the JR train, haha.

When you go down the stairs next to the front desk of Sapporo Garden Palace, you will see a white curtain restaurant next to the izakaya. That is "Itamae Washokujo Ebisu Tenan". The interior is neatly arranged with a counter and table seats, and it is quiet except for the sound of the TV. I decided to spend less than 1,000 yen for a solo lunch, so I ordered the "Joten Don" for 980 yen. I have always loved tempura. I prefer donburi like tempura don, katsu don, oyako don, gyudon, etc. The Joten Don includes 2 shrimp, eggplant, pumpkin (quite thick slices), chrysanthemum greens (I think they are thin), and a small fish called "kisu". The tempura, soaked in sweet and salty sauce, goes well with rice and I find myself eating more and more. The side dishes include miso soup with tofu. It has a basic flavor. And pickled white cabbage. It's a bit salty. But it's perfect for summer. I finished it in no time. If I didn't have work in the afternoon, I could have eaten more. It was delicious!

This is a tempura restaurant located in the basement of a hotel called Garden Palace, about a 10-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station. I visited this place for a second round after drinking near Sapporo Station and dropping off a friend who was staying at this hotel. Although it is a tempura restaurant, you don't have to order tempura. They offer a nightcap set to encourage hotel guests to use the restaurant, which includes carefully prepared appetizers and drinks at a wallet-friendly price. Dishes like squid sashimi and udo with vinegar miso dressing were all delicious, making me think that their tempura must be good too. I would like to come back for a tempura bowl for lunch next time.

Stayed at Hotel Sapporo Garden Palace for accommodation. When I come to Sapporo, I almost always stay here. It's been about 3 years since I stayed at a hotel in Sapporo due to the influence of Corona. Arrived at the hotel at 19:20. Checked in, put my luggage in the room, and entered the restaurant around 19:30. It is located on B1 of the hotel. It's convenient that you can go directly there by elevator without going outside. I was the only customer. I sat at a table and ordered a draft beer for ¥550. The appetizer was edamame. I had a plate of assorted sashimi (plum) for ¥3,000. It included botan ebi, saltwater sea urchin, octopus, scallop, medium fatty tuna, and squid. Everything was delicious. I also tried the seasonally available mountain vegetable, Hamaboufu vinegar miso salad (I forgot to take a picture). It was delicious with a unique aroma and texture! I had 5 medium-sized draft beers and around 21:00, I settled the bill and returned to my room. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I came to eat tendon. I visited at the opening time of 11:00. When I looked at the menu, there was tendon for 900 yen, and upper tendon for 980 yen. I asked what the 80 yen difference was, and they said the upper tendon has one more shrimp tempura. So, I ordered the upper tendon. After that, they provided tea and a wet towel. However, even though there were two women, they showed no signs of starting to prepare the food. Finally, a man appeared after 15 minutes and they started preparing the food. It was served in about 8 minutes. The tempura included two small shrimp tempura, kisu tempura, pumpkin tempura, shungiku tempura, and green pepper tempura. The tempura was moist. The rice was firm, and the sauce on the tendon was mildly sweet, which I liked. The miso soup had tofu in it and was a bit strong. The daily special was an appealing set meal with mackerel miso and mixed vegetables.

On a certain weekday, I visited a quaint tempura restaurant in the Garden Palace Hotel basement for lunch. The restaurant had a traditional Japanese counter and tables, with a raised seating area in the back. The atmosphere was quiet, with no background music playing. The only sound was the sizzling of tempura being fried in front of me as I left. I decided to try the "Jou Tendon (980 yen)" which had a variety of tempura toppings. The tempura batter was thin and crispy, suggesting it was fried at a high temperature. The shrimp was small but flavorful, the sweet potato was soft and not too thick, and the kiss fish had a nice texture. The dipping sauce was sweet and salty with a strong dashi flavor, and the rice was freshly cooked. The meal also came with miso soup with seaweed and tofu, and pickled Chinese cabbage with shichimi spice. I hope the hotel can overcome the challenges they are facing and continue to do their best. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The location near the prefectural office is always crowded during lunchtime, but the underground area of Garpare seems to be a hidden gem as you can enter without waiting in line. The tempura is authentic, crispy, and delicious. The tempura set meal costs 1200 yen, but I think it offers good value for the price. There are also other menu items besides tempura, so I might want to come back to try them if I have the chance.

Saury miso set meal for 900 yen. The restaurant in the basement of the hotel is quite empty during lunchtime, so it's convenient. I wonder if the shrimp tempura bowl is a specialty!? But I chose the saury miso with a rebellious spirit. The set includes saury miso, squid sashimi, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The rice portion is generous. The squid sashimi is a bit small... I wish there was a bit more. The saury miso has a rich flavor, making it delicious and easy to eat with rice. The miso soup is average. The price might be a bit high for this. Maybe it's because it's in a hotel!

It's a shop in the basement of Garden Palace. It's a bit of a hidden gem because the shops next to it are quite popular. The freshly fried tempura was delicious.

Requested menu: Tempura bowl (850 yen) "Ebi Tenan" is located in the underground floor of Hotel Garden Palace, just a few minutes' walk from Odori Station. Upon entering, you will find a counter and table seats with a traditional Japanese interior. The tempura bowl ingredients include shrimp, whiting, squid, pumpkin, and eggplant, which are quite orthodox. The seasoning is just right, not too salty or too sweet, and complements the rice and tempura well. In addition to the tempura bowl, the set menu options are also plentiful, and the fact that you can have unlimited rice refills makes the lunch experience very satisfying. You can also enjoy watching the chefs cooking from the counter, which adds to the enjoyment. They also offer fish dishes and sukiyaki, so I would like to try those next time.

There is a restaurant called Katenan located in the underground dining area of the Garden Palace hotel, right in front of the Hokkaido Police Headquarters in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. I visit this place with my colleagues 2-3 times a week for their delicious set meals. Their tempura is a must-try, but they also offer a variety of other set meals and a la carte dishes. My personal recommendations are the mackerel miso set meal, pork miso soup set meal, and tempura set meal. They offer free extra large portions and unlimited rice, which is great for salarymen looking for a satisfying meal. The owner seems strict, but the kind and thoughtful landlady, as well as the handsome and friendly chef, make the dining experience enjoyable. They seem like a family. I'll definitely be going back again tomorrow!

I often have lunch at a set meal restaurant located in the basement of Sapporo Garden Palace. You can enjoy various dishes for less than 1000 yen. As the name "Ebi-Ten-An" suggests, the tempura is delicious. The sukiyaki set meal is also highly recommended. The portions are quite generous, making it a perfect place for lunch. However, it can get crowded during lunchtime, so sometimes the staff may seem a bit overwhelmed, but it adds to the charm of the place. Highly recommended.

I casually dropped by a restaurant in the basement of Sapporo Garden Palace Hotel for lunch. There were various lunch menus available, such as bento boxes, tempura, sashimi, and pork miso soup, making it a safe choice for people with different tastes. Although the restaurant is probably mainly focused on tempura and other Japanese dishes, the pork miso soup was delicious (although a bit salty). When I asked for a little extra rice to balance out the saltiness, they kindly topped up my miso soup as well. The friendly chef and tasty Japanese food made me feel at home, especially as a business traveler. Thank you, I will definitely come back.
