All the dishes were of high quality and delicious. We received a small appetizer from the restaurant as a service, and although the prices were a bit high, considering the service and food, it seemed reasonable. There were many other dishes that caught my eye besides the one I ordered this time, so I would like to visit again when I go to Hakodate.

On August 5, 2021 (Thursday), I visited a seafood izakaya near Hakodate Station. It seems like they are not operating now due to COVID, but they also offer teppanyaki at the counter. I was taken there by a senior colleague from work. We arrived around 7:00 PM as there was no request for shortened business hours at that time. The staff mentioned that they have been quiet due to COVID. We started with a toast with draft beer. We enjoyed some delicious dishes such as Taraba crab sashimi, fresh squid sashimi, and medium-sized live oysters from Akkeshi. The squid was in season, and although I had tried fresh spear squid in spring, I felt that the squid had more sweetness and a chewier texture. The oysters from Akkeshi are always a treat wherever you go in Hokkaido. The live squid from Hakodate was incredibly delicious. I would love to have it again. The fresh seafood dishes were delightful. Thank you for the meal!

This is a sister restaurant of a seafood izakaya located in front of the station. I decided to visit this place for my next visit to Hakodate because it looks clean and has private rooms that can be used by small groups. Despite being closed for a long time due to repeated states of emergency and the winter season, they were open when I visited. The staff's uniforms are chic with a black base, and the building's decor is sophisticated with Chinese-style paintings and ornaments, creating a calm atmosphere that I appreciate. On this day, I had the following: live squid for 2200 yen, appetizer for 1100 yen, draft beer, hot sake for 605 yen, snow crab shell for 1320 yen, marinated squid for 495 yen, asparagus butter for 780 yen, Hakodate Bugyo Junmai Ginjo for 935 yen, Chitose Tsuru for 660 yen, scallop cheese gratin for 990 yen, white wine glass for 550 yen, squid and eggs teppanyaki for 1078 yen, Shiretoko chicken charcoal-grilled for 1078 yen, Asahi beer bottle for 660 yen, shrimp battleship for 1056 yen, tuna for 418 yen, octopus for 168 yen, and cod roe roll for 275 yen. Well, I ate a lot. I requested the live squid in advance if they had it in stock. The presentation is completely different from the one in front of the station. The prices are slightly higher overall, but it's not a problem at all considering the environment. By the way, in many regions, live squid and its internal organs are often grilled, but here, they are mostly served as sashimi. I will definitely visit again next time.

It's a high-end restaurant produced by Kikisaburo, so the high prices are understandable. The restaurant exudes a sense of luxury. I entered alone and was seated at a private table instead of the counter, which was nice. The food was delicious, but on the pricey side. It seems to target tourists, so frequent visits may be difficult.

I visited the restaurant on Saturday at 7:30 PM. I made a reservation in advance on the Tabelog website. I started with a "Sapporo Classic" beer. I ordered the "Crab Shell Platter," "Saltwater Purple Sea Urchin," "Corn Butter," and "Butter-grilled Surf Clam." The crab was easy to eat and delicious. The sea urchin, corn, and surf clam were all very tasty as well. Although the staff seemed busy and it took a bit of time to place our order, they were friendly and we had a great time.

I went to this restaurant when it was relatively new, so there weren't many customers and I was able to get a table easily even after 8 pm. Every dish I tried was delicious and I was impressed. It was completely different from the usual appetizers. Eating at this restaurant made me realize that dining in Hakodate is totally different from dining in Kanto. I wonder what makes it different? Maybe it's because everything is so fresh? I definitely want to go back when I visit Hakodate again.

◆June, 2019◆Hokkaido to Hakodate◆Teppanyaki Hokuto-bo◆Goku Shiraoi Beef Course 10,000 yen (at that time) "Because a friend is working hard as a teppanyaki chef" A acquaintance of mine, A, who I have been grateful to when I was producing a teppanyaki restaurant, is now running a new teppanyaki restaurant in Hakodate, so I visited with them. The restaurant is located right in front of La Vista Hakodate Bay, and it just opened in May, so the store is sparkling new. We were guided to the counter with about 9 seats, where there is a teppan in front and a water tank in the back. The atmosphere is full of live feeling. Now, onto today's menu. ◆Goku Shiraoi Beef Course◇Appetizer - Ezo oysters with seaweed jelly◇Sashimi - Uni and crab◇Teppan - Shiraoi Abe beef tendon stew wrapped in dashimaki tamago - Shiraoi Abe beef tenderloin with burdock sauce - Asparagus and young corn with Japanese lemon butter - Shiraoi Abe beef sirloin steak◇Cold dish - Deep-fried eggplant in broth◇Meal - Shiraoi Abe beef grilled rice ball in soup◇Dessert - Teppan pancake with Hokkaido red beans and vanilla ice cream◇Option - Live squid sashimi◻︎ Head Chef Chika Hiroshi Of course, it was a full course of A's beloved Shiraoi beef. Starting with the flavorful Ezo oysters and bite-sized uni and crab, we moved on to the teppanyaki dishes. The tendon stew wrapped in multiple layers of dashimaki tamago was even more delicious due to the effort put into it. The Shiraoi Abe beef was consistently delicious. I recommend cooking it to medium rare, but Head Chef Chika suggested cooking it a bit more to medium, which was perfect. The grilled rice ball in soup was also delicious, and the optional squid sashimi was enjoyable. We mostly paired the food with red wine, but the craft gin from Beni Zakura Distillery that was brought out midway was exceptional. We stopped by the distillery and purchased several bottles. This is a izakaya located in the center of Hakodate city. The location is convenient and easy to access. I ordered a sashimi platter and some sake, and the sashimi was fresh and delicious with firm texture. They have a wide variety of sake, which is perfect. I would like to visit again in the future.
