"In February 2022, at the Super Arcs Chitose store (formerly Big House Chitose store), there is a bakery corner. During the Big House era, a Yamazaki Bread-affiliated "Sapporo Paris" operated as "Gran Charrio" in the location where the current drug store is located. There was a kitchen at the back of the sales floor where bread was baked on-site, but eventually the sales area was removed and turned into a game corner. However, the kitchen at the back remained, and the bread baked there was now sold in a bakery corner set up in a corner of the deli section. When the store was rebranded from "Big House" to "Super Arcs," the interior underwent a major renovation, and the drug store was relocated to its current location, leading to the removal of the original bread kitchen. However, the bakery corner itself has continued to exist and remains to this day.
This raises the question of where the bread here is made and who is selling it. The official website of "Sapporo Paris" currently lists "Gran Charrio Nagato store," but there is no mention of "Gran Charrio Chitose store." However, the signage at the bakery corner still bears the "Gran Charrio" name. This suggests that the bread is likely manufactured by "Gran Charrio." Currently, "Sapporo Paris" operates under the "Gran Charrio" brand at two stores in Sapporo, two stores in Ebetsu, and one store at the Nagato store in Chitose, so it is probably being baked at the Nagato store and transported here, or they have been commissioned to manufacture it in the backyard of this Super Arcs Chitose store.
The bread at this corner is typically priced at 100 yen including tax, with sandwiches, pizzas, sweets, and other slightly more expensive items sold a little further away. One downside, as is common in many stores, is that the sizes of the bread can vary significantly depending on the type. In other words, bread that uses more expensive ingredients tends to be smaller, while bread that doesn't require as much cost is larger, so it is important to be aware of this when making a purchase. The variety is quite good, and being able to easily purchase bread at the same price range as bagged bread in the bakery corner is convenient."
