In July 2020, Kentucky Fried Chicken in Japan celebrated its 50th anniversary! They were selling a special anniversary pack from July 1st to 7th. I saw a TV commercial with actress Mitsu Dan promoting it, so I bought the 1000 yen pack (5 pieces of original chicken) and the 1500 yen pack (5 pieces of original chicken and a potato box) through the drive-thru and enjoyed them at home. One of the 5-piece packs had a piece of each part neatly arranged, while the other had 2 drumsticks. The original chicken brings back memories of when I first tried it in elementary school and was amazed by how delicious it was. I used to look forward to having it as a treat when visiting Sapporo, especially at the now-closed store on Minami 1-jo. The perfect blend of 11 herbs and spices, cooked in a pressure cooker, makes their chicken unique and tasty. It's tender, easy to eat, and the skin is especially delicious! I always pair it with cola at the store and with beer at home. As for the fried potatoes, I prefer the shoestring cut like McDonald's fries. I heard soaking them in salt water before frying can make them tastier. By the way, I recently learned about their popcorn chicken on their website. I would love to try that someday!

I visited for lunch. It was my first time at this KFC. I wanted to try the limited-time Red Hot Chicken, so I came here. This time, I purchased the "Red Hot Chicken Pack A." It includes 2 Original Recipe pieces, 2 Red Hot Chicken pieces, and potatoes. I'm happy that I can compare it with the Original Recipe. Personally, I highly recommend the Red Hot Chicken! I usually go to the Kankyo-dori Higashi store, but for a change, I decided to try the nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken. My family heard about a special deal on the 28th, which is apparently Chicken Day, so we decided to go. It had been a while since we had KFC, so it was a nice treat. Did you know that you can choose the portion size at KFC? When I was in Yakumo, the Harvest manager told me about it. There are different parts of the chicken that have different flavors. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of commercials with cute voiceovers by Mitsuhashi Mitsuki asking if we want KFC. The combination of KFC and beer is also tempting, although I personally prefer malt and hops. "Hey, how about KFC today?" 😊

I received some takoyaki from the neighbor as a snack, so I decided to have dinner at KFC after crossing the road. The parking lot is close by for drive-thru customers. The interior of the restaurant is compact, with a fast-food vibe, and there is a non-smoking section that is not completely separated from the smoking area, which was a bit surprising. There were no customers in the eat-in area, which was strange, but there was a steady flow of customers coming in to pick up their orders. The menu mainly consists of family meals with sides like potatoes, but I opted for individual items to avoid filling up on potatoes. I ordered the "Spicy Boneless Kentucky (270 yen)," "Normal Chicken (250 yen)," "Fried Fish (200 yen)," and a large oolong tea (270 yen). The Spicy Boneless Kentucky had a nice level of spiciness and a good texture, but lacked juiciness compared to the Normal Chicken. The Normal Chicken was juicy and satisfying, but seemed to be lacking in flavor compared to previous visits. The Fried Fish was crispy and oily, which paired well with the tartar sauce. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but ordering individual items can be pricey. It might be better to go for a bucket deal for better value. Thank you for the meal.

I tried the baked cheese hamburger sandwich that I was curious about. It had been a while since I had a hamburger. The bun was more like a bread for a Japanese-style chicken cutlet sandwich or hamburger. The hamburger patty was juicy and substantial, almost as thick as the bun itself. However, I wished there was more cheese flavor in it. The taste was more like hamburger than cheese. As a huge cheese lover, I wanted it to be cheesier, maybe four times more cheese! It was a bit pricey even with a 20 yen discount coupon. I also tried the fried salmon sandwich during the three-day weekend campaign. The bread-to-salmon ratio seemed off, and the salmon itself lacked flavor. I wish there was more tartar sauce to enhance the taste. The bread was slightly chewy. The sandwich was okay, but I might have preferred just the fried salmon without the sandwich. The freshly made box potato was delicious, and the chicken nuggets had a KFC-like taste that I enjoyed. I always end up going back to the classic menu items. Overall, be careful of pedestrians when using the drive-thru!

Since it's just for evening drinks and I don't have a family to share a family pack with, I'm thinking of my favorite food to eat~♪ It seems you can use your Ponta card points here. Today, in June 2015, I came here next door to have soup curry for lunch. I also went shopping at the nearby supermarket, but since it's not open yet, I decided to rest here for a bit. I ordered an iced coffee, which I love, and also wanted to have my favorite fried fish and some french fries before lunch. The staff recommended a special set that includes fried fish and chips, so I ordered that. It took about 5-6 minutes for the food to arrive, and the french fries were freshly fried and generously portioned. I ordered a large size set, but I knew I couldn't finish it all before lunch, so I asked for a takeout bag. The hot french fries were delicious with just the right amount of salt. I always end up eating too much of them. The fish fry, which I love, has become even more delicious now. The iced coffee was also easy to drink without any bitterness. Thank you for the meal!

In the Sapporo area, Kentucky Fried Chicken is franchised by Ito Construction Group, a subsidiary of Ito Group. They have an impressive 36 KFC stores. The first store is still in existence in Makomanai. I was lured by a commercial to try the "3-Piece Big Satisfaction Pack (1200 yen including tax)". It includes an original 3-piece, a crispy chicken, a grilled rice ball, a biscuit, and an extra item all for 1200 yen including tax, which is a great deal. Crispy fried chicken that makes you crave more, and a satisfying promotion to eat to your heart's content. Recently, there has been a noticeable quality gap among KFC stores, but this particular store fries the chicken very well - crispy, not greasy, and tasty. There is another store nearby that needs some re-education, so be cautious. The original recipe is as delicious as ever, juicy, crispy, perfectly spiced. Even though fried foods usually give me heartburn, I can eat this endlessly. The crispy chicken has a strong garlic flavor, adding a different dimension. It goes well with beer and is a favorite taste of mine. The grilled rice ball used to have a reputation for being hard, but now it is soft and delicious. I stopped by for takeout right after lunch at a store located along Minami 24-jo Street in Higashi-ku, Sapporo. The store is usually not crowded on weekdays. I decided to buy four pieces of my favorite "Red Hot Chicken" for takeout, along with some fried potatoes for my companion. I also ordered a ginger ale without ice. The "Red Hot Chicken" was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a spicy flavor perfect for summer. The skin was delicious and not too oily. The portion sizes were slightly smaller than usual, but the taste was still great. The fried potatoes were a bit thick and would have been better if eaten fresh. The ginger ale, a product of Coca-Cola, was served without ice. Overall, I enjoyed the "Red Hot Chicken" and would definitely buy it again, despite the slightly higher price compared to the original fried chicken. On March 30, 2013, after eating ramen for the first time, I stopped by KFC. It was my first visit to the Sapporo Motomachi store. Recently, there was a flyer in the newspaper advertising the delicious salted chicken, and my wife and I wanted to try it, so we ended up buying a comparison pack. We also bought 3 pieces of the delicious salted chicken for 150 yen! It will be a great snack with alcohol when we get home. The delicious salted chicken was available for a limited time last year, I think. This is so tasty! Literally! The crispy skin and slightly spicy flavor are just perfect. I really like it. And the delicious salted fried chicken is also amazing! It has a crispy and fragrant taste, and the small pieces of meat are rich in flavor, perfect for a snack with alcohol! Oh no...even though I already ate a large portion of ramen, I couldn't help but eat too much! Another surprise was that since we bought the comparison pack, we also tried the original chicken. It was surprisingly delicious! KFC's taste varies from store to store. The Sapporo Motomachi store may be the best KFC I've ever had! Even though it was cold, the crispy texture on the surface remained, and there was no greasy feeling. I used to think the KFC at Hiraoka Aeon was the best, but this one surpassed it. It may not be worth going all the way to Motomachi just to buy KFC, but I recommend it! Sometimes it's good to try the original chicken from a different store. Takeout Red Hot Chicken Thighs are crispy and crunchy with a decent level of spiciness. The meat was softer than the original, but it might have been my imagination. The Original Chicken Drumstick was easy to eat with a good balance of meat and coating. The wings had a mix of tender and chewy parts, with juicy skin. I still don't like the coleslaw. The Japanese-style Chicken Sandwich had a good sauce, and the buns were surprisingly good. The coating was tastier than usual at the store I always go to. It must have been good timing. Not related to KFC, but I almost cried when I heard the news of John's return.
