In September 2022, I revisited "Kamon," a private room izakaya for the fourth time. Although all rooms are private, the counter seats are not considered private. However, on this day, there were no other customers, and I had the counter seat area all to myself. I started with a "draft beer" to quench my thirst and ordered a "sashimi platter" as a side dish. Instead of a set menu, you can choose your favorite sashimi from the various fresh options available that day. I chose tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Another must-try dish at this restaurant is the "Kamon tempura," made with shrimp, corn, edamame, and sprinkled with salt. After finishing the beer, I decided to have "Sanchosakura" sake as my second drink. Sanchosakura Sake Brewery originally located in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, has a history of over 140 years. The sake has a rich flavor yet is easy to drink. Lastly, I want to mention the highlight of this restaurant, the "otoshi" (appetizer) which this time was a 7-item platter. With three dishes, two drinks, and the otoshi, the total bill came to 2,950 yen, which was quite reasonable. Despite the recent price increases, the dishes were modest in portion size but ranged around 600 yen each, giving you the advantage of being able to order a variety of items. Located in the back of the entertainment district from JR Chitose Station, it is definitely worth a visit.

We visited GoTo for the first time as a couple. The pork belly seared dish was 430 yen, the chicken thigh karaage was 560 yen, the rolled omelette was 460 yen, the salmon and pickled mustard leaf fried rice was 580 yen, the chilled sweet red bean soup was 430 yen, and the appetizer was 450 yen. The restaurant has a dignified appearance and used to be Obanzai Tei. We were seated in a private room with sunken kotatsu seating. The atmosphere was dimly lit and had a calm, traditional Japanese feel. We usually order similar items, but this time we also tried the pork belly seared dish which looked delicious in the photos. The rolled omelette was more like a dashimaki (rolled omelette with broth). I almost finished the fried rice by myself and was quite full. The appetizer was priced at 450 yen, which was reasonable considering the quality. It seemed like the couple running the restaurant, with the husband cooking and the wife serving. The wife didn't engage in small talk at all. There were many menu options and the food was served quickly and was delicious. They also had an impressive selection of local sake.
