Sapporo Odori, Bus Center area. Open for morning business from 8:00 to 10:45 Lo. It seems like a jazz cafe, but there is no morning performance. Smoking is allowed in the spacious store. The customer service is unfortunately not at a high level. Prices range from 350 yen for coffee to an additional 250 yen for a toast set, making it quite reasonable. The original blend coffee (350 yen) is served at the same time as customers who arrived five minutes later. It has a slight aroma and a noticeable bitterness, with little sweetness or acidity. There doesn't seem to be any particular emphasis on the coffee. The An Butter Toast (+250 yen) is made with thick toast from "Okameya" and homemade sweet bean paste, balanced well with the saltiness of the butter and very delicious. The boiled egg (+70 yen) is easy to peel and tasty. Overall, it felt uncomfortable as they seemed to be behind on preparations, even when I was the only customer. They accept PayPay but do not provide receipts. Thank you for the meal.

"Paper Plane" is taking a break for now! I need to rest after indulging in steak hamburgers followed by soup curry, especially since I fasted the day before to prepare for visiting many shops. It was difficult to find a time when the restaurant was open, as they are closed on Sundays and holidays, and I finally managed to visit on a Saturday. According to their website, in addition to the drink menu and dessert menu I attached, they also offer a grand menu, which might be listed on the back of the drink menu. On the day of my visit, there was an event happening in the restaurant, but I will focus on the food experience in this review. I ordered the "Homemade Cake (¥430)" which was the "Kumquat and Ginger Brownie" and a drink, "Harmony Blend (¥330 with a ¥200 discount as part of the cake set)." You can choose from 5 different cakes displayed in the showcase next to the register. Unfortunately, the Kiwi rare cheesecake was sold out on the day I visited. I opted for the brownie with kumquat and ginger, which was a daily special. The brownie was dense and had a satisfying texture. It required some effort to cut through, but it had a rich and moist interior with a crispy outer layer. The combination of kumquat and ginger added a refreshing flavor, and the nuts added a nice crunch. The brownie had just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the slight bitterness, making it a delightful treat. The event happening in the restaurant was a jazz live performance, which I stumbled upon during my visit. The soothing music captivated me, and I wished I could have stayed longer to enjoy it fully. The live performances may require a cover charge on certain days, but on the day I visited, it was free, and guests could contribute as they pleased. It was a unique experience to enjoy live jazz music while savoring food at a cafe, and I recommend staying to listen if you happen to visit on a day when a live performance is scheduled. Overall, "Paper Plane" is a smoking-friendly establishment, so it may not be suitable for non-smokers. However, the combination of delicious food, great drinks, and live jazz music creates a memorable and enjoyable atmosphere that I will cherish."

Today, I was walking down the main street and came across a shop with a sign that caught my eye. I saw customers smoking outside, which suddenly made me crave a cigarette. I decided to enter the shop. Inside, jazz music was playing, creating a great atmosphere. I forgot to place my order at first, but the food was delicious. I will continue to work hard in the afternoon. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant located near the Bus Center Station entrance during lunchtime. The daily lunch special is priced at 730 yen, which is quite reasonable. On this day, they served hamburg steak. It was a soft type with a strong meaty flavor, very delicious. The meal also includes salad, two small side dishes, and miso soup. During lunchtime, there are people who come here almost every day. The restaurant has a piano and plays jazz music, and they even hold live performances sometimes, but during lunchtime, they focus on serving set meals to satisfy the nearby working people. It's the type of place you could visit dozens of times.

Sapporo has many jazz cafes in the city center, and this one also serves a morning set. I sat next to the grand piano and enjoyed a classic combination of coffee, boiled egg, and thick toast, similar to Singapore's traditional kaya toast. The salt shaker filled with coffee beans was a nice touch. The coffee at lunch is 470 yen, and this morning set is only 520 yen, which seems like a great deal. It was delicious. The jazz music playing softly in the background, occasional live performances, and flyers from a musician I once knew in Sapporo added to the charm. As I left the cafe and looked up at the Sapporo TV Tower, I was reminded of a similar scene at a jazz cafe called "YURI" in Nagoya. I hope to perform here again in Sapporo someday.

This is a café located near Exit 3 of Bus Center-mae Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line. I arrived around 14:45 on a weekday and there were about 4 customers already inside. I ordered a blend coffee for 460 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. I paid in cash. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After 1 pm, I visited the restaurant and there was only one other customer inside. Lunchtime was over, so it was understandable. I saw a sign indicating that the daily special miso cutlet was sold out, which must be popular. Since I was using the cafe this time, I thought about getting the cake set, but then I noticed the apple pie. I haven't had it in a while, so I decided to have it with ice cream (for an additional 100 yen) and a drink set with coffee. I think it was around 780 yen. In less than 10 minutes, my order arrived. The coffee was decent, probably around a 70 out of 100 in my opinion. The apple pie was also good, just what I was craving. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, with a spacious interior and occasional jazz live performances. I think it's better than some of the trendy places these days. They seem to take pride in their food menu, so I might go back to try the daily special lunch next time. Thank you for the meal!

Yesterday's heat seems like a lie, as it feels chilly without wearing long sleeves. The rapid change in weather signals the end of summer in this town. I walked under the almost rainy afternoon sky, feeling as if I could start over at any moment. Another part of me suggested that it was okay to skip lunch if I let go of my own will. In front of an old-fashioned coffee shop, the lunch sign was barely noticeable. Inside, the spacious and gentle lighting embraced me. I ordered the daily special "tonkatsu set meal" and a coffee after the meal. While cafe-style places are popular in town, the nostalgic charm of a classic coffee shop brings back memories of a good era. Looking back at the past only seems to be a collection of good memories. The small tonkatsu with tomato sauce was decent, considering it's not a tonkatsu specialty shop. This coffee shop is all about reviving past fragments as pleasant memories. The hot coffee after the meal confirmed that this was indeed a coffee shop. The coffee is the main focus here, and the "tonkatsu set meal" is just a side product. There are no customers flaunting their MacBook here. Let's immerse ourselves a bit more in the relaxed atmosphere of the good old coffee shop while listening to a bit more of the uplifting jazz music...

On a certain weekday, during a confusing time in various areas around the capital region, I stopped by a "THE" café in the Bus Center station area for a walk. The smoking allowed interior is relatively spacious with wooden tables and a small counter, and there is a grand piano in one corner. Old Western music plays in the background with nostalgic sound quality. From the menu on this day, I discovered the Morning Set (500 yen) just in time, even though I had plans for lunch later, so I ordered it with an additional 50 yen for an iced coffee. After a while, it was ready. Oh, it's not too filling this time, which is a relief. Let's take a bite... The bread is moderately thick with a light spread of butter and average tasting jam, while the boiled egg is slightly smaller than usual. Next, the iced coffee was slightly bitter with a sweet aftertaste, a delicious coffee typical of a charming café. Thanks to this, I was able to spend a peaceful time. Thank you for the meal.

During a business trip in the city, I had the daily lunch special (stewed hamburger steak set meal) for 700 yen and a coffee for 100 yen. Today, I walked around the Seisou River East as usual. Finding a place to kill time during walking appointments is tough. In the end, I always end up here. This place operates on a different time axis compared to the hustle and bustle of the city. This set meal was my first time trying it. The rice portion was just right, and the warm miso soup was appreciated. The stewed hamburger steak was the star today! The well-cooked main dish with a generous serving of vegetable sauce on top was delightful. I quickly finished my meal while enjoying the post-meal coffee and listening to the background music. I love this atmosphere. It reminds me of the jazz cafe I used to frequent in Goryokaku-cho during high school. Before I knew it, it was 12:54. It's time to head to the client's place. I love this unique space at Seisou River East. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

On a busy day in April when I didn't even have time to go out for lunch, I made time to visit a restaurant called "Paper Plane". I had been curious about this place for a while and decided to refresh my mind and stomach. They have a daily special menu in addition to their regular menu, but on this day, they only had "set meals" available as the "lunch special" was sold out. It seems like it can get quite crowded during peak hours. I ordered the daily special, which was the chicken with green onion sauce set meal (700 yen). I also wanted to have a coffee (100 yen) after the meal. The restaurant is a smoking establishment, so I enjoyed a cigarette and read the newspaper while waiting for about 12 minutes for my meal to arrive. The chicken with green onion sauce set meal arrived and I found the portion size to be quite modest. It was just right for me, but may not be enough for those who want to eat more. The chicken was crispy and coated with a sweet and sour sauce. The skin was crispy while the meat was tender and delicious. The sauce was not too sour, making it easy to eat with rice. The meal came with cabbage, lettuce, and a side dish of burdock and lotus root stir-fry, which had a rich flavor and complemented the meal well. The rice was cooked firm, but seemed to be of lower quality. The miso soup was made with granulated dashi and had some seaweed and green onions as toppings. I thought 700 yen was a bit expensive for this meal, but considering that you can have coffee for 100 yen, the cost performance is decent, especially since a cup of coffee alone costs 450 yen. After finishing my meal, I enjoyed a cup of coffee, which was strong and bitter, just the way I like it. I spent about an hour leisurely enjoying my meal, coffee, cigarette, and reading the newspaper. It was a nice place to relax, and I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

This shop is an old jazz cafe full of Showa era vibes, located a bit east of the bus center building. On this day, I went to listen to live piano and bass performances. Instead of a regular live show, they play live music as background music while operating as a regular cafe. There is no fixed music charge, and customers are free to put any amount of money in the basket next to the register on their way out. The menu is not a special live show menu but a regular cafe menu. The lunch special for the day was Yakiniku fried rice (with soup & mini salad) and a choice of drink or mini dessert for 780 yen. I decided on this because I had tried the Yakiniku fried rice during my last visit and found it quite delicious, plus the set was reasonably priced. I opted for the mini dessert of the day, a chocolate brownie, with my set and ordered a Cream Soda (520 yen) during the break after the first set. I wanted to try ordering Cream Soda at an old cafe influenced by Namba Rina, who is famous for her retro cafe tours and Cream Soda book. Everything was delicious and satisfying. The shop allowed smoking throughout, but luckily there were no smokers nearby, so it wasn't too bothersome. If I had been seated closer to someone smoking, I might not have been able to stay until the end due to feeling unwell. I was lucky to be able to listen to all three sets of the wonderful performance. If I had more money, I would have liked to give a larger tip, but being a struggling person barely making ends meet, I gave the minimum amount of cash. It's truly a blessing to be able to listen to live jazz during the day at this shop. I used to go to jazz bars occasionally to listen to live performances, but after my health deteriorated, I rarely go out to listen to jazz at night. I will definitely visit again to listen to jazz. Thank you for the meal!

This shop is located a little to the east of the bus center. On this day, I went to listen to a lunchtime jazz piano concert during the holidays. The music charge is 1500 yen plus a mandatory order. The live drinks are all 500 yen (even though it's lunchtime, alcohol is available), but it's convenient that you can just order food. It's an old-fashioned jazz cafe with a Showa-era atmosphere. First, before the performance started, I ordered the yakitori fried rice for lunch. When you hear yakitori fried rice, you might imagine thinly sliced meat, but this one had slightly thicker meat sautéed on top. The fried rice is lightly seasoned and easy to eat without being too heavy. It comes with salad and soup for 700 yen, so it's reasonably priced and convenient for a live meal. After the first half of the performance ended and the break began, I added an apple pie (400 yen) and a set of tea (+250 yen). Hmm, it's delicious, but when I think about the price, the cost performance is not great. I was satisfied with the performance, so I would like to visit again when I have the chance. Thank you for the meal♪

I had the recommended lunch special today which was curry spaghetti with a blend coffee for 800 yen during my business trip in the city. It was a disappointing week and even my work results were not great. I need to figure out how to report this to my boss. To think things over, I always come to this place. I arrived at 12:15 and as soon as I opened the door, I could hear Jazz music playing, creating a cozy atmosphere with the smell of coffee in the dimly lit interior. The curry spaghetti I tried for the first time was just right in terms of spiciness, with a hint of saltiness probably from the boiled pasta. It was delicious. The soup and salad that came with it were also appreciated. For an additional 100 yen, I enjoyed their house blend coffee after the meal, which had a well-balanced and smooth taste. The BGM in the restaurant was a piano solo, which I really liked. I left at 12:55 and realized I had forgotten to think of excuses to report to my boss (laughs). I might just have to report it honestly. This is a longstanding Jazz cafe established in 1977. I will definitely come back here again in the future.

365 Days Paper Airplane is a restaurant name that brings back memories. I thought someone might be using it, and indeed, Papa-san was using it! "Looking up at the morning sky♪ Hoping for a day filled with smiles♪ I quietly made a wish♪" Eat and go! Try eating! Eat and go! Try eating!... However, it turns out that only drinks are available in the early hours (^_^;) But soon, it will be lunchtime, and more importantly, the atmosphere... Ultimately, just drinking coffee and leaving might have been the right choice. They use original blend coffee made from self-roasted coffee beans. Classical music plays in the background. There is a hint of tobacco flavor mixed in, but surprisingly, this tobacco flavor is not unpleasant. In fact, various smoky flavors were detected. In this cozy environment, I quietly sipped my coffee. The coffee itself, however, did not exceed my expectations. The balance of acidity that becomes more assertive towards the end was not bad, but the flavor felt a bit weak. I felt like it could use a bit more intensity and seemed like it might have been pre-made... It was a cafe oasis for smokers. Overall rating 3.0, Taste 3.1, Service 3.3, Atmosphere 2.0, Cost performance 3.2, Drink 3.1. Location: Sapporo City, Chuo-ku, Minami 1-jo Higashi 2-7, Mizu-Kyokai Building 1F, Paper Hikouki Sapporo Main Store ☆☆☆ Next Episode Preview ☆☆☆ "Life is a food-walking plane♪ Going to eat at various places♪ In the wind, with all your might♪ Just keep moving forward♪ Rather than competing for distance♪ It's more important how you eat, where you choose♪ That's what matters the most♪ Now, follow your heart♪ 365 days♪" Reference song: 365 Days Paper Airplane, Artist: AKB48, Lyrics: Yasushi Akimoto, Composers: Hisakazu Kakuno/Hiroki Aoba

This is in front of the bus center. I entered without any particular purpose. I saw the sign for Misuzu Coffee and felt like having a coffee... It seems like a cafe that fills the stomachs and lungs of the salarymen around here. It has a strong Showa era vibe. The place is filled with smoke. I was surprised when I entered! I was once again puzzled when I looked at the menu. The coffee was expensive, so I ended up getting the thick toast set for 600 yen. I got the coffee first. The coffee didn't have much aroma or richness. Hmm, not the best... The toast arrived. No margarine or butter, just strawberry jam. I wish I could choose or have both. The bread is delicious. I'm not certain, but I think it's from that bakery? Well, I got some nutrients and the place is smoky, so I left quickly. It's nice to have a place where salarymen can have various lunches and take cigarette breaks. Thanks for the meal.

The self-roasted coffee here is delicious. The basic blend is rich and aromatic. It offers a taste that you won't encounter at Starbucks or Doutor. The calm atmosphere with jazz playing in the background. You can stay for hours without feeling rushed. If you want to relax near the TV Tower, this is the place to be.
