The warm voice echoes in the town's soba restaurant. The squid tempura is thick, but I prefer it to be a bit smaller in size. The amount of soba is generous, and the broth is just right with a delicious sweet and salty taste that makes you want to drink it all up. It seems to be a beloved restaurant by locals with many families dining there.

This was my first visit to Marunan's branch near the public office in Toyokawa Town. The parking lot in front of the store is often full, but there seems to be a second parking lot available. I tried the recommended menu item, the large shrimp tempura soba. The shrimp was indeed large and delicious.

Near Hakodate City Hall for lunch. I've been curious about it for a while... Nanachan in ○ is a traditional soba restaurant that is far from the trendy world of touch. Its atmosphere matches the retro feel of Hakodate City ♫ Old things, old places, they can either deteriorate over time or gain more character. This place falls into the latter category, with the elderly owner still energetically walking around the restaurant. The maintenance of the restaurant may not be perfect, but it has a unique charm. The storefront may lack appeal, but the name is nice. Although it doesn't look like a soba shop from the outside, the interior is a traditional soba restaurant. Now, I'll have the large serving of soba with extra noodles. I've heard that Hakodate has a high ratio of more soba, but I haven't encountered the Edo-style more soba that I long for. However, the soba here in Hakodate is still good and I can enjoy it without regrets. The soba, served in a typical countryside style, is of medium size, so even I can finish it without regret. The dipping sauce is the typical mild Hokkaido style soba broth. Slurp, slurp, slurp... Mmm, it's delicious. The soba broth is a bit cloudy, but it's tasty to gulp down. By the way, they also have ramen on the menu, but it's strange to see ramen in a long-standing soba restaurant. Such places always seem to have regular customers enjoying ramen... Well, despite that, the soba was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

First time at this restaurant! The parking lot in front was full, so I parked on the side of the road like some other cars. Inside the restaurant, there were a few customers, some seemed to be on a work break. The seating area was not too big, just the right size. The wait wasn't too long, and my tempura soba arrived! The noodles were slightly thin with a decent firmness. The broth and soba soup were okay. The flavor of the soba was a bit light. Overall, it's a decent soba restaurant. The tempura in the tempura soba was honestly a bit lacking. I felt like one or two more pieces would have been nice. The portion size was average. For women, a regular size would be enough, but for men, a large size might be better. Hmm... if I'm craving "delicious soba," I probably wouldn't come here. But if I'm in the area, I might consider revisiting.

It's quite hot today, isn't it? I was worried that summer wouldn't come around the beginning of July, but it's definitely here now. On days like this, cold soba noodles are perfect. Today, I had lunch in the area near the station where I had been before. I ordered the "Squid Tempura Soba" in a large portion for 850 yen. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. The squid tempura was served separately, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought it would be mixed in with the noodles. The soba noodles were machine-made "Hakodate-style" and tasted good, although they were a bit lacking in firmness. The dipping sauce was typical of soba restaurants, slightly salty, and went well with the grated daikon radish. The squid tempura was light and fluffy, which I really enjoyed. The large portion left me feeling satisfied. Thanks for the delicious meal! I'll definitely visit again!

The restaurant is located 90 seconds from the "Uoichiba-dori" tram stop and has a luxurious exterior. Upon entering, you will notice the tables, ceiling, and walls with colors that evoke a sense of history. The restaurant was established around 1950, but it is hard to tell. There are 4 tables for 4 people each and 3 tatami rooms for 4 people each, providing a comfortable space. In addition to the regular menu, there are recommended dishes for summer and winter. The mori soba is priced at 450 yen, with an additional 100 yen for extra large portions. I ordered the mori soba this time. The portion size is not as large as the ones in Hakodate, but it is still satisfying. The soba broth was served piping hot, and it was clear that the water used to boil the soba was fresh. They recommend the set meals, although they also have a curry series during the winter season.

Marunami-san.. It seems that it is pronounced "Maruminami" (confirmed on the website). My colleague from Hakodate calls it "Marunan," quite a few people seem to read it that way. Marunami-san was founded in Meiji 24 (1891), the main store. The Toyokawa branch was established in Showa 25 (1950) as a branch. There are 3 other stores in the city, and I plan to visit all of them soon. Today, I had lunch with my colleague as usual. The Toyokawa branch has a great lunch deal! I ordered the "daily special lunch" for 650 yen. The daily special that day was a "mini oyakodon + mini soba." I asked for the soba to be served cold. It was brought to me in about 7-8 minutes. Oh! It's quite big for a mini size. Is it half size? 7/8 size? This should fill me up. Let's dig in! The soba is machine-made, Hakodate style. It's just regular tasty soba. The dipping sauce is also typical of local soba, a bit salty maybe? Well, when it comes to soba, Hakodate tends to have this kind of flavor, so I'm enjoying it. The oyakodon had ingredients like onions and bamboo shoots, with a taste similar to the soba dipping sauce. It's delicious too! The ramen here seems to be popular as well. Many people were ordering it. I would like to try it next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

There are several Marunan restaurants in the city, which seem to be family-run or passed down among relatives. This particular branch is located in Toyokawa. I mistakenly confused it with Yabugen in Sakae-cho. When I visited, I realized they are located on opposite sides of the park road. Both places were crowded during lunchtime. This place was also busy. I was intrigued and decided to visit. The interior of the restaurant had a somewhat old-fashioned and dimly lit atmosphere. There were many manga books and various menus posted on the walls. There were also numerous menus on the tables. I ordered the salt ramen and small rice set for 500 yen (ramen portions at soba restaurants tend to be generous). The food came out surprisingly quickly. The clear soup had chashu, naruto, shiitake mushrooms, and green onions. The chashu was unexpectedly delicious. The noodles were curly, and I prefer straight and slightly chewy noodles for ramen (personal preference). The rice was not very tasty, so I left it untouched. The soba noodles were standard machine-made ones, and the broth was slightly sweet with a flavorful dashi base. The soba dipping sauce was also served properly. The lunch set with warm zaru soba and rice for 500 yen is a good deal, which explains the crowd.

I stayed at a hotel and had soba noodles delivered to my room. I ordered two portions for 840 yen. The soba noodles were thin with a firm texture, and very delicious. They seemed to be machine-made, but I prefer thinner noodles so it was just to my liking. The dipping sauce had a slight sweetness and a rich dashi flavor. I was told I could leave the leftovers in my hotel room, which was convenient. I would like to try the hot soba noodles next time.
