I visited a cake shop near Minami Otaru Market for the first time. Oh, there's a notice from Shin Tomi who is a neighbor, saying they are closed. Too bad... Vanilla Sugar, on the other hand, is open only on weekends, and on other days they hold confectionery and bread making classes. It seems like a lovely shop run by a couple. They make cakes that are gentle on the body with minimal additives and delicious. Since it was evening, there were only a few cakes left, but they were all small and cute. I bought an apple pie (330 yen) and two cream puffs (190 yen). When I got home, I had them for a snack in the evening. Cream puff... the top part comes off. I scooped up the cream from the top and ate it. The gentle sweetness was soothing. Apple pie... maybe because time had passed, the crispy texture was a bit lacking. Also, the size was small, so in terms of value for money, it felt a bit unsatisfying. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I want to go earlier and try a different cake.

I have a weakness for limited edition items, so I couldn't resist trying their "Vanilla" chiffon cake. The chiffon cake was fluffy and topped with a cream that had just the right amount of fragrance and sweetness. It was so soft that it practically melted in my mouth. My family intended to get the "Strawberry Cream Puff" and the "Classic Chocolate" cakes, but when we opened the box at home, it turned out to be the "Vanilla Cake" instead. Well, it wasn't a big deal, and we enjoyed it nonetheless. The "Strawberry Cream Puff" is made with custard and whipped cream and has a refined sweetness, just like the chiffon cake I had. The shop also operates as a confectionery school on days other than Saturdays and Sundays. According to my partner, it has been used for events by school mothers as well. It's a local cake shop with a strong community connection.
