Hakodate is hot this year! It's been 10 years since I last lived here (lol) so I visited "Nonchan Shokudo Kisakiya". I went there after work. Since my wife and kids are not here, I can focus on my food log activities! It's hot, so I chose a seat where the air conditioner's breeze hits directly. We don't have an air conditioner at home... Menu mainly consists of set meals. They also offer bento for takeout. It's conveniently located across from MaxValu, so if the food is good, I might buy bento from here next time! A glass of draft beer costs 500 yen. It's Asahi Super Dry. A cold glass of beer is much appreciated on a hot summer day. This one glass makes it all worth working for! The crispness of Super Dry goes well with summer. Fried horse mackerel set meal costs 920 yen. Rice and miso soup are refillable. The rice is average, not particularly delicious but not bad either. This is important because some places serve bad rice. The miso soup with nameko mushrooms is delicious! I had a refill. The fried horse mackerel has a crispy coating and tender inside, very tasty. It's a perfect match with beer! Vegetables are also appreciated for someone living alone. It's great to have a full meal for under 1000 yen. A Black Nikka highball costs 450 yen. It's not as impressive as beer but it's refreshing for summer. You can even have a daytime drink here! This place is perfect for a lunch on a day when you finish work in the morning. If I were on a solo business trip, I would come here three times a week (lol).

I had lunch at Kikiya. It is a restaurant located near MaxValu in Matsukaze-cho, which serves as an izakaya at night and a lunch spot during the day. The lunch menu is diverse, offering dishes like ginger pork, stir-fried vegetables, fried horse mackerel, grilled salmon, sashimi, and curry. Due to a decrease in squid catch in recent years in Hakodate, they also recommend dishes like fried yellowtail. The restaurant has a small counter with 3 seats, two 4-person tables, and one raised seating area. I ordered the fried chicken set meal, which had a nice portion size and even came with a bonus meatball. It was satisfyingly filling. Hmm, I still want to drink alcohol... Thanks for the meal.

Located on a three-lane road facing one side, with a compact parking lot for three cars on the west side of the store... it requires some skill to park there. They offer a wide variety of set meals, with over 10 options, making it hard to choose. The dish featured on NHK this morning was the "Buri-tare Katsu," but I opted for the 2020 version to avoid any confusion. I ordered the set meal (¥800), which came with five thick pork cutlets. The thin crispy coating had a great texture, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. As I bit into the third piece, the juices started flowing. The taste was rich and slightly salty, simply delicious. If you enjoy fried fish, you will definitely love this dish. Dip it in the sweet, sour, and spicy sauce, and you won't be able to stop eating. The miso soup had a rich flavor with a shrimp head in it. The rice was soft and came in a large portion by default. It also came with a wiener, side dish, and pickles. The meal was very filling and suitable for those with big appetites. It seems like this place might become as popular as the shop that used to operate at the morning market with its wide variety of fish dishes.

On this day, I visited "Non-chan Shokudo Kikiya" for lunch. I arrived at 10:30 am and was the first customer. I ordered a draft beer right away, and it arrived promptly. The brand was "Asahi Super Dry." Shortly after, two appetizers were served - white fish sashimi and simmered burdock. I was thrilled to see sashimi as an appetizer! I ordered another draft beer and also tried the "Yamitsuki Kyuri" (addictive cucumber). I had a nice chat with the owner about our shared hobbies. I then switched to bottled beer, choosing "Sapporo Lager" Red Star. It was nice to see more places offering Red Star. I also ordered fried natto as a snack, which turned out to be a great accompaniment to the beer.

Welcome. When you come to Hakodate, one of the must-visit restaurants is "Rime Sawa"! To start off, their "oden" is delicious and full of flavor. Even though there was a bit of a wait, the staff still remembered me. Next, I went for their "manpuku set meal" and it was worth it!

Welcome.---------- July 2020 ----------Walking from Hakodate Station, I found a surprisingly close and brand new dining place |o| °д°)ﾉ Galarala When you slide open the screen door, you'll find a cafeteria-like space called "Non-chan." They are open all day, so you can have a drink during the day. Non-chan used to be a talkative bar, and there were rows of congratulatory notes. Do Hakodate locals know "Canonball, Chiyodai"? Despite being Non-chan, the reason for the name "Kikikiya" is because they have a cat named "Kiki." You won't feel lonely even if you're alone. Let's start with the scallop soup, which has a nice scallop broth. It has a gentle seasoning. The recommended menu item, Non-chan's tamagoyaki, is excellent. I love tamagoyaki, and this one is packed with eggs, giving a slight sweetness and a satisfying texture. Finally, we finished with the classic lemon sour. The "one cup" sake they serve may be rare, sourced from all over the country. I wish they had "Kumamon" one cup sake.

I use it for lunch with my colleagues because it's close to the workplace. It was delicious.

I had fried rice, it was okay but had a comforting feeling that made me want to root for it. Next time, I think I'll go for curry rice.

I used to avoid this restaurant near MaxValu in Matsukaze-cho because it seemed like they served large portions and the parking lot looked difficult to navigate. However, I decided to try ordering through Uber Eats. The owner used to run a snack bar in Matsukaze-cho, but now they have established themselves as a proper dining establishment. I tried the mixed fry and saikyo-yaki (grilled silver cod) and they were not greasy at all, just right.
