I visited again. I used to come near Konoe, but I haven't been here for a while, so maybe this will be my last meal at this store? However, there is another store in Odori, so I might go there next time. The addition of vegetables makes it colorful. The most notable thing is the soup. It has a thick and rich sesame flavor. The ultra-thin noodles are not my favorite, but they go well with the soup and are delicious. I want to drink up the soup here! It's getting hot, so maybe next time I'll try the chilled tantanmen at the store in Odori. Thank you for the meal!

Wandering new curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solo middle-aged man. This is a memo-like review from an old man. For those who want to see "concise information" about the restaurant & food, please move on to other people's reviews around here. I had been aware of the existence of this restaurant for a while, but I hadn't visited it. After hearing feedback from a companion, I decided to try it out since it's in my area. I ended up visiting twice. The dish that I found relatively satisfying was the "Special Rich Tan Tan Men" (warm tan tan men). The first time I visited, it was a hot day with heavy air and glaring sunlight. I didn't feel like going on an expedition, so I decided to visit this nearby place. Naturally, I ordered the "Famous Cold Tan Tan Men." The restaurant is located in Nishi-ku, Kotoni 1-4-4. It is on the second floor of a building facing the "24-ken Teine Street" (the first floor is an izakaya). It is right above the Kotoni Station on the Tozai Line, next to the bus terminal. If you refer to the image of the exterior of the building, you should be able to find it easily. Upon entering at around 1:10 pm (Friday), I was pleasantly surprised by the cool air inside. The interior of the restaurant was clean and nice. There is a ticket machine on the right side after entering. First-time visitors often miss the ticket machine and head straight to the empty seats, so they are reminded to use the machine. The customers at the time were two middle-aged men dining alone, a middle-aged couple, and another middle-aged man dining alone. I ordered the "Famous Cold Tan Tan Men with Crispy Fried Shrimp" for 1,150 yen. I was intrigued by the "Crispy Fried Shrimp." The dish came out in about 7 minutes. The cold soup made the rich and flavorful aspects of the tan tan men less pronounced. The noodles were thin and wavy, offering a good chewy texture. The "Crispy Fried Shrimp" was surprising in size and did not add much flavor. The soup was not overly salty, making it easy to finish. The price was a bit high, so those with a big appetite might need to order extra noodles or rice. The service aspect also left something to be desired. The staff's attitude and energy were lacking. It's okay to have different personalities, but in the food industry, a certain level of enthusiasm is expected. Overall, I couldn't wholeheartedly recommend it. On my second visit, the weather was still hot, but the restaurant was cool. I arrived around 1:20 pm (Saturday), and there were no other customers. I decided to try the "Special Rich Tan Tan Men" for 950 yen.

The location of the restaurant is right near Kotoni Subway Station, and it's easy to find as it's on the 2nd floor of Izakaya Furusato. The operating hours are only 2 hours from 12:00 to 14:00, so you need to make sure to go on time. This was my first visit and the restaurant is very clean. I chose the rich tantanmen. The water had lemon in it, making it easy to drink and showing the attention to detail. The tantanmen that came out quickly was artistically presented. The flavor was rich, with various umami flavors concentrated in the soup. The noodles matched perfectly with the rich soup, and before I knew it, they were gone - I even ended up getting two extra servings of noodles. (Extra noodles cost 100 yen each). There were condiments like Sichuan pepper, chili oil, and black vinegar on the table, allowing you to change the flavor and make it even more delicious! Without a doubt, it's the best tantanmen I've ever had!

I discovered a new shop while passing by and decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon. The interior of the shop had only counter seats, with about 10 seats available. First, I purchased a meal ticket. They had a soupless tantanmen, but I decided to try the rich tantanmen. You could choose between regular and extra spicy. Since I'm not good with spice, I chose regular. The tantanmen arrived fairly quickly. I was surprised by how thin the noodles were. They were as thin and curly as somen noodles. The soup was rich, with small shrimp adding a nice flavor that coated the thin noodles well. There were condiments for flavor enhancement, including chili oil, Sichuan pepper, and black vinegar. The Sichuan pepper added a subtle, not overpowering, numbing sensation and a floral flavor that complemented the dish well. The black vinegar also had a strong acidity that changed the flavor profile, and I would recommend trying it as well. I was surprised by how thin the noodles were, and wondered if regular thickness noodles would also be delicious. I look forward to trying their soupless tantanmen next time!

Today, I visited a new restaurant specializing in tantanmen noodles called Ichiryu, which opened this month. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building and has only 11 counter seats. While they offer cold and soupless tantanmen, I decided to play it safe and ordered the rich tantanmen with rice. I was tempted by the extra topping of minced meat, but I'll save that for next time. I ordered at the ticket machine and when handing it to the staff, they asked about the amount of spicy oil. I chose the normal level. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. The sesame on the noodles looked brighter and bubblier compared to other tantanmen I've seen before. The noodles are imported directly from Hong Kong and are cooked for a short time. They are thin noodles not commonly seen in Japan. The soup has a rich sesame flavor at first, followed by a unique spice aroma often found in Asian cuisine. It's delicious. Despite the short cooking time, the noodles maintained a good texture until the end. The thin noodles mix well with the soup, allowing you to enjoy both at the same time without any need for chopsticks. Lastly, I planned to mix the rice into the soup for a porridge-like dish, but the rice was surprisingly mushy and it killed my appetite halfway through. Disappointing.

"Tantanmen Ichiryu" has three stores in Tokyo. The "Tantanmen Ichiryu Kotonishi Store" is the second store to expand nationwide, which opened in December 2021. I visited for the first time with my usual companion right after leaving the hospital. The store is located in the "Furuzato Grill" near Kotonishi Station on the subway in the Kotonishi area of Nishi-ku, Sapporo. Check the exact location of the store on Tabelog. I visited as the first customer before 11:30 am on a weekday. The store is located inside the "Izakaya Furuzato Grill." It used to be where "Fujiya Kotonishi Store" was located. As it was a new opening, the friendly president of "Izakaya Furuzato" was also working as a staff member. When you enter the store, there is a ticket vending machine on the right. Both my usual companion and I ordered the new menu item "Vegetable-rich Cold Tantanmen for 950 yen." The inside of the store has counter seats and table seats. There were no customers before us, and there were a few customers behind us. We sat at a table. The "Vegetable-rich Cold Tantanmen" can also be made with extra spiciness. I chose "Extra Spicy," while my usual companion chose "Normal Spicy." The water served had a good flavor with five types of fruits and herbs. While waiting, I met a reviewer I knew. After waiting for about 10 minutes, our two bowls of "Cold Tantanmen" arrived. The "Vegetable-rich Cold Tantanmen" has thin, straight noodles that are easy to eat. The soup is mild and creamy, with a gentle flavor despite the chili oil in it. The saltiness is just right. The ingredients include ground meat, green onions, white onions, fried onions, and plenty of vegetables (120g) such as carrots, bean sprouts, cabbage, and arugula. The vegetables are prepped for easy eating. The price is 1000 yen (tax included). The "Vegetable-rich Cold Tantanmen" has both the noodles and soup well-chilled. The soup is rich but has a creamy and mild taste. Even with extra spiciness, it's not too strong. Additional spices like Sichuan pepper can be added from the table. It's cold but has a delicious and easy-to-drink soup. With 120g of vegetables, it's plentiful and of good quality, making you want to add more toppings. This "Vegetable-rich Cold Tantanmen" is rich in vegetables and has a flavor that would particularly appeal to women. Next time, I might try the "Soupless Tantanmen for 850 yen." It was delicious, thank you.

The ramen shop without a parking lot is not easy for people from outside the area to use. I had to climb the stairs next to Furusato on the first floor. I'm not good with stairs, but I managed to climb up. When I entered the shop, it was abnormally hot! It must be close to 30 degrees. The humidity is probably around 80% too. Despite this, the staff were all in T-shirts, sweating. Are they telling customers to wear T-shirts too? There is no ventilation, so the humidity and temperature keep rising. It felt like being in a sauna. I quickly slurped up the thin noodles, similar to somen, without needing to savor the taste as I had eaten at Hokkaido Ichijo before. I had it with numbing spice, so my mouth didn't get numb, and I enjoyed it.

This is my second time here. Definitely delicious. The soup is thick and the noodles are very thin. Even though I usually prefer thick curly noodles, this one is really tasty.

The Sansho pepper flavor is very strong and delicious. However, it lacks depth and richness in flavor. It is quite light and refreshing. It would be better if more umami and richness could be brought out from the ingredients.
