I stopped by a new shop in my neighborhood after shopping. It's a handmade side dish and dashi rice ball shop, where the rice balls are made to order by the staff. I bought edamame & salmon and salted kelp & edamame rice balls. The rice was moist and delicious with the dashi flavor, and the ingredients matched well, creating a gentle and lovely taste. I also got a thick dashi rolled omelet for 300 yen. It was fluffy with a juicy dashi flavor, and the slight sweetness was delightful. They are also working on crepes, so I'm looking forward to trying them. The staff was friendly, and I definitely want to visit again. ✨

I purchased an "onigiri" as a snack on the way. The bonito onigiri costs 250 yen and is made to order. The size is just right, with a weight of around 120g including the filling. I wish they used better quality rice, but the texture is good with a nice balance of salt. The seaweed used is similar to the one I used to offer, which brings back nostalgic memories. The bonito is a bit too salty, but the seaweed has a good flavor and thickness. Overall, I think this onigiri is quite good. However, the size and price should be more in line with everyday food expectations. They should not forget that onigiri is a daily staple. I am a bit concerned about their new ventures like crepes. It all comes down to where they place their concept.

In December 2022, near Maruyama Class, there is a deli and onigiri shop. After reading a MyRebi article, I visited the shop right away. They have a parking lot in front of the store. This shop sells dashi made with Hokkaido scallops without any additives, which is used in their side dishes and onigiri. I was surprised to find out that all the side dishes are priced at 290 yen each, and they all look delicious with a satisfying portion size. This time, I bought the shrimp and avocado Caesar salad and the cheese and bonito onigiri. The onigiri is made to order, and while waiting, they offered me some dashi, which had a beautiful color and a delicious aftertaste. The shrimp and avocado Caesar salad was delicious with the shrimp properly prepared and tasty. The fried chicken is made with chicken thigh meat, no noticeable tendons, and a little fat. The batter is thin, with a light seasoning that tastes great. The cheese and bonito onigiri is small and easy to eat, with delicious seaweed and rice. This shop is very charming and worth a visit!

It was a place near Maruyama Class. I went inside and ordered onigiri. They made it after I placed my order. While waiting, they offered me a taste of Ezo dashi. I chose the plum onigiri (290 yen) and the fresh tarako onigiri (290 yen). I ate them after returning home, so some time had passed, but they were still delicious. The salt was light, and the rice was tasty. They also sold side dishes, and the sweet tamagoyaki was sold out, so I would like to visit again next time. Thank you for the meal.

The next day's takeaway lunch! Let's go to "Douya"! This is the restaurant that many reviewers have mentioned sells a "3000 yen onigiri". I wonder what's inside, but I'm curious if anyone has actually bought it before, even if you split the cost with 10 people, it would still be 300 yen each. The takeaway item I got was "Salted Kombu & Edamame (¥250)". It's great that they make it fresh on the spot instead of pre-packaging it. While waiting, I had a cup of the "Ezo Dashi" shown in the 4th photo. The taste I get from one sip is the flavor of kombu and bonito! It's warm and delicious... The onigiri is neatly shaped into a triangle, and the salted kombu is spread evenly throughout! The rice used in our store is cooked using the Ezo Dashi mentioned earlier, and the color resembles cooked-in rice, which clearly indicates its deliciousness! The gentle yet enhancing touch of Japanese taste leaves a lingering flavor that is wonderful! The salted kombu has just the right amount of saltiness, and the edamame also had flavor. It seems that edamame is delicious even in onigiri, so I might consider it as a reference for my lunch onigiri when I start living alone again closer to summer. Next time, I will also purchase some side dishes! Thank you for the meal.

On a certain holiday, I visited a relatively new onigiri and side dish shop near Maruyama subway station that I had bookmarked. There is parking space for about 2 cars in front of the shop. The interior is compact and looks like a bento shop, with various side dishes displayed in the showcase. I purchased a few onigiri and side dishes from the menu that day. "Ume (290 yen)": I tend to play it safe with onigiri these days, so I chose the plum flavor. The onigiri was of average size with firm grains of rice. I could faintly taste something like soy sauce on the rice, and the dark-colored plum inside had a slight sweetness and a strong sourness. It was of the high acidity type. "Akeshio Salmon (310 yen)": This onigiri was also of average size, with seaweed wrapped all around. The salmon on top was not in flakes but in pieces, with a light saltiness that complemented the rice, which had a hint of soy sauce flavor. There was plenty of salmon inside, which was nice. "Kansai-style Rolled Omelette (300 yen)": Considering the current situation, I was surprised by the size of this onigiri. When I took a bite, I could taste the egg flavor along with a light saltiness from the dashi, making it an excellent side dish. I hope they continue to do well and not lose to Arinko, the famous onigiri shop in Sapporo. Thank you for the meal.

Oni activity in December 2022! New opening in the back alley of Marukura on December 1st, 2022. Introducing a small shop specializing in dashi-cooked rice balls. The space is tight, suitable for two groups at most. Rice balls start at 210 yen and go up to a whopping 3,000 yen for one with gold leaf! I wonder if they'll sell well in Maruyama? As a commoner, I opted for the red salmon (310 yen) and side dish set (230 yen). The rice was delicious, cooked with "Ezo dashi" and perfectly seasoned. The red salmon was generously portioned and the side dish had a homemade feel with a gentle flavor. The dashi in the miso soup was tasty too. Next time, I'll try buying some Ezo dashi to take home. Thank you for the meal!

Title may surprise you, but it's actually on the MENU - "Gold Leaf Onigiri @3,000". Of course, I didn't eat it... If you're interested, feel free to try it with your own money. Located on the south side of "Maruyama Class", a bit south of Ura Omotesando. It used to be a bento and side dish shop, I think. Inside the shop, there are two friendly women ready to take your order. The MENU includes items like "Salt Onigiri @210, Bonito and Tuna Mayo @250, Cheese Okaka @290, Beef Tendon @460, Eel @560", and other side dishes are also available. I bought "Mentaiko @290" and "Fresh Tarako @290" - why did I choose two types of cod roe? Looking back, I see they also have items like "Egg Yolk (limited to five) @310, Edamame & Salmon @270, Minced Deer Meat @310", and more interesting MENU options. I started making the onigiri after ordering. While waiting, they offered me a pot of "dashi" broth, poured into a paper cup. The gentle salty flavor of the well-made broth warmed me up. It would go well with an onigiri like the ones with okaka or umeboshi. I took my order to go... Actually, I bought another onigiri from another place afterwards (I know, I'm silly). The rice was slightly softer than I prefer, and the saltiness was just right, not too strong. The "Fresh Tarako" had a unique touch with butter mixed in, giving it a mild and delicious taste. The "Mentaiko" was pretty standard, but seemed to have less filling. I also recommend the assortment of six side dishes for only @230 - that's a great deal, right? They will start selling crepes soon, so I look forward to that. I'll visit again when it gets warmer. Thank you for the meal. * If anyone tries the "Gold Leaf Onigiri", please share a review. m(_ _)m

The shop is open from 11:00 on the opening day. It seems to be a shop that manufactures and sells something called Ezo dashi, and the rice is cooked with that dashi. I bought the basic salt onigiri for 210 yen, wakame rice for 240 yen, cheese okaka for 290 yen, and mentaiko for 290 yen. I also bought Totoro's dashimaki tamago for 290 yen, as all the side dishes in the store are sold for 290 yen each. The rice cooked with dashi is delicious. The salt onigiri and wakame rice have a mild flavor, so the dashi flavor comes through well. I will try the others later. There are various side dishes in the showcase. The dashi tamagoyaki is made in Kanto and Kansai styles. I chose the not sweet Kanto style. It might be a little expensive, but the rice is delicious, and it's good for a light snack. They will also start serving crepes soon. It might have onigiri in it too (laughs).
