There was a time a long time ago when I visited this place, and the pre-made side dishes were delicious and the hostess was very friendly. The counter was almost full, so we sat at a lively table in the back. 10 minutes after entering the restaurant. - Super Dry Beer 550 yen - Appetizer 350 yen - Broccoli and Mongouika Garlic Stir-fry 420 yen - Udo with Soy Sauce 400 yen 20 minutes after entering, I ordered a second drink: - Aoki Onoe Niseko Junmai Ginjo Sake 800 yen - Lemon Salt Fried Chicken 3 pieces 420 yen The grilled fish that I had initially ordered didn't arrive, but the staff were thoughtful and kept apologizing for the delay. Eventually, after over an hour of waiting, the Salt-Grilled Herring with Mountain Wasabi arrived for 780 yen. The saltiness was mild, so I wished it had a bit more flavor. In the end, waiting for the fish dish led to ordering more food and drinks than planned.

"Obanzai Fuu" in Asahikawa, I am alone. My wife told me, "Bring takeout to the hotel and drink sake!" I thought what my wife said was important, so I went out to get some takeout. So far, I haven't been able to get any takeout, so I ended up eating at three different places. I had planned to go to three places today, but I still feel a bit restless. There was a store that I had passed by a few times and was curious about. I thought I had been there before, but finally decided to check it out. Turns out, I hadn't been there. The layout inside the store was different from what I had seen from outside, so I hesitated. When I entered, there was a man at the counter who had been playing with his phone the whole time, even before I arrived. And in the back, there was a man sitting at a raised seating area. I wondered what this man was doing alone at the raised seating area. Suppressing my excitement, I realized that he must have been drinking with someone. The mama, who was managing the store alone, seemed curious about where I had come from. Out of the four places I visited today, three of them seemed to be curious about where I had come from. At each store, I changed the story of where I had come from. At this store, they asked me to write down my name and phone number. I wrote it down properly. I sat at the counter and ordered a beer. The appetizer was pumpkin and minced meat, I think. But I'm not a fan of pumpkin, so I didn't touch it. However, by the time I was ready to leave, it was gone, so I had to eat it. The food at this obanzai restaurant was delicious. After the man at the counter left, I had to endure mama's attacks, so I had to eat while connecting my chopsticks and mouth. The man at the counter passed away, and we both forgot about the man at the raised seating area, so we had a friendly conversation. Mama might not have forgotten about him, though. It's already December, and suddenly the flow of customers coming towards Sanrok has stopped, which made mama very upset. She also seemed to be annoyed by me, who came from outside. She didn't hide the fact that she found it annoying. There were obanzai dishes lined up on the counter, but they were at a height that even I, who boasts of my height, couldn't see. I ended up not seeing them until I left, and now I regret not looking at them. The beer was delicious, and I realized from looking at the photos that I had ordered fried food simmered in sauce, which was also delicious. It's a weekday, so it's understandable, but I hope more customers come on weekends. I prayed for that while asking for the bill. When I showed the "GO TO Hokkaido" coupon, mama had a strong rejection reaction and almost spat out her drink. I quickly put it back in my bag and showed her cash. As expected of an obanzai restaurant, they only accept cash. The rejection reaction disappeared, and she raised both hands saying, "Obanzai~". It was a cheerful meeting. Thank you for the meal. Anyway, please do your best. I thought that no matter what I ate, it was a delicious restaurant. And I wrote about various things, but it was a fun mama. Mama will never say that I was a fun customer, but I believe she thought so.

During the consecutive holidays, I was walking in the Sanroku area of Asahikawa, and I came across a restaurant called "Obanzaiya". It seemed like a cozy and clean place, so I decided to go in. I ordered a classic bottled beer and a sashimi platter for 1,000 yen, as well as simmered pork cheeks for 650 yen. The appetizer was simmered bamboo shoots and fuki leaves, which was warm and comforting. The pork cheeks were thick and moist, with a deep flavor. The sashimi included sea bream, octopus head, flounder, tuna, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp, and although it's not a seafood-focused restaurant, it was still good. I also ordered an additional sake, "Tachibana's Risshun Morning Squeezed". I tried the beef tendon stew that another customer had ordered, which was spicy and rich in flavor. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal, and the bill came to 3,900 yen. It's a nice place for casual dining.

Before meeting my drinking buddies, I arrived a little early in the city center and decided to stop by a place I had always wanted to try but was always too crowded. Since it was early after opening time, I was able to get a seat. The counter was lined with homemade side dishes prepared by the proprietress, all of which looked delicious. I started with a draft beer (500 yen including tax) and was served a simmered dish of butterbur and fried tofu as a complimentary appetizer. Let's order some of the side dishes that look appetizing! It was mentioned in the menu that most side dishes can be ordered in half size, except for a few. Many solo business travelers seem to enjoy the fact that they can try a variety of dishes. I ordered the "Simmered Chicken, Eggplant, and Thick Fried Tofu" in half size (350 yen). The fried chicken, eggplant, and thick fried tofu were simmered with a slightly thickened sauce that had a relatively light soy sauce flavor, which was very delicious! Next, I ordered the "Japanese-style Rolled Chinese Cabbage with Soy Milk Miso Flavor" (380 yen). The soy milk sauce, which also had a hint of miso flavor, was generously poured over the rolled Chinese cabbage. It had a rich taste but was not overpowering due to the soy milk. The sauce itself could be a great accompaniment, but the tenderly cooked rolled cabbage was also delicious. According to the proprietress, they try to create menus that are gentle on the body by using minimal additives. I felt like having some sake, so I ordered the "Honjozo Echigo Masamune" (800 yen). It was a light and dry sake that paired well with the side dishes. How about ordering one more dish in half size? I requested the "Simmered Beef Tendon" (400 yen). The beef tendon was cooked until very tender and had absorbed the flavors of daikon radish and tofu. Overall, the taste of the side dishes was delicious, and it was evident that they were carefully prepared. In addition to the side dishes, they also offered a variety of izakaya menu items such as sashimi, salads, fried foods, and grilled dishes. I thought it was a great place to enjoy some delicious side dishes with a drink!

All dishes were delicious. Especially, the lemon-flavored zangi had a nice acidity and the coating was crispy, making it one of the best zangi I've had. The sake was also good. I found a restaurant that I definitely want to visit again. Next time, I want to try the mini seafood marinated rice bowl.

Today, I wasn't in the mood to cook so I decided to eat out and visited this place. The staff welcomed me with a smile and the atmosphere was warm. I looked through the menu and decided to order the obanzai set, which came with a drink for around 1800 yen. The set included a variety of dishes such as salad, sashimi, stir-fried pork, tofu, daikon and konjac, and more. Each dish had a home-cooked taste but with a professional touch, and they were all delicious. While I enjoy indulging in greasy food and alcohol at izakayas, it was a luxurious experience to enjoy healthy dishes with a drink. I would like to visit again soon.

◆October 2016◆ This is a review of a second party in Asahikawa. The place is near the popular Genghis Khan restaurant called Daikokuya. I was drawn in by the bright lighting and the sign that said "Obanzai Fu." The interior of the restaurant is bright and clean. It seems like a new restaurant. There are counter seats and a raised seating area in the back. [About the menu] There are large dishes lined up on the counter, each priced at 500 yen. On this day, they had Goya champuru, grilled yellowtail with daikon radish, and nikujaga, among others. They also offer sashimi, grilled dishes, and fried foods. The prices are reasonable. [What we ate] We started with beer and the assorted appetizer plate. Then we ordered boiled eel with ponzu sauce and grilled yellowtail with daikon radish. The yellowtail with daikon radish was okay, but the fish portion was small. The boiled eel with ponzu sauce reminded me of the dish Goro-san had in "The Lonely Gourmet." The combination of eel fat and the refreshing ponzu sauce was great. It would have paired well with sake, but I had too much at Sanshiro, so I held back. Lastly, we added garlic stir-fried snow peas. The garlic flavor was strong, but the seasoning was simple and good. I was happy to see asparagus in it. The squid ponzu and squid tempura looked really delicious. Next time, I want to try the nikujaga and dried daikon radish with sake.

I was drawn in by the big street and easy-to-find location, and decided to enter. There were various side dishes lined up on the counter, and there was also a raised tatami seating area in the back, where I was seated. The atmosphere was nice, and I had a feeling that the food would be delicious, which turned out to be true. Even at a late hour, the place was crowded, which was understandable. I also found out that they offer all-you-can-drink courses, making it a very reasonable restaurant. Since the seating is limited, I recommend making a reservation. Thank you for the wonderful meal! :)
